*sounds klaxon* 30% GA peel shizzle that you can do at home

thought i ought to do a public service and announce it properly as hardly anyone seems to know you can buy this stuff to use at home - and it works out sooo much cheaper than having it done at a salon even tho it's the exact same stuff.

i've only used it once so far (for 3 mins) but have been properly amazed by the results - as i posted on another thread, my 11s have reduced by 50% [holy grail] and my skin generally looks brighter and more even.

you do it weekly, building up the time over 6 weeks and then have a break.

the magic goo is here: www.bravuralondon.com/glycolic-acid-30.html

don't forget to get the neutraliser (apparently just bicarb but maybe has crushed fairies' castles in it too Hmm so your choice) and use sun block in the day.

anyone a veteran of the stuff and care to share your results?

p.s. i don't work for bravura and i'm a MN regular recently name-changed to separate my S&B chat with my over-sharing on other threads.

For those who are finding it's not stinging, I wouldn't worry about it, I guess we've all got different skin and as such, we're all going to have different reactions. The proof as they say is in the pudding. Give it a few weeks and if you're not seeing results, then maybe it's not for you but I wouldn't write if off just yet.

I can't say it's stung me all that much, indeed, the neutraliser seems to sting far more than the acid itself but I've definitely noticed a difference with my skin.

cybbo · 09/04/2012 18:08

Mine stung like a bastard last night but I AM insisting on cleansing my face directly before hand contrary to leaflet instructions

I just cant be arsed to wait around. I couldnt wait for 3 mins though, had to neautralise at 2.30

GilbertandGeorge · 09/04/2012 18:14

I left my 2nd on for five minutes but that seemed like forever, possibly because I just stood and looked at my face in the mirror.

ggirltwin2pinot · 09/04/2012 18:14

forget the acid girls i have just invested in babyliss ceramic rollers
bouncy hair.com wooah!!!!!

ggirltwin2pinot · 09/04/2012 18:15

gilbertandgeorge-just splattered my red wine at you staring at yourself for 5 mins

cybbo · 09/04/2012 18:20

gg I tried rollers for the first time the other week expecting this

hither

when what I actually got was

so I straightened the lot ,pronto

MissFoodie · 09/04/2012 18:27

just done 3rd SA peel, left on for 7 mins (!)
stung, but not as much as last time, can't see any difference except one massive blocked pore (which I hadn't even noticed) has become unblocked.....all other pores/lines/general ageness looks the same....
just applied serum and oil, now restraining from looking in mirror until tomorrow morning.....
have ordered 20% SA anyway.....

blobtobetter · 09/04/2012 18:42

Nothing comes out of my pores with OCM or SA! Must be on pore lock down.

Maybe I just need to leave it on longer .......

ggirltwin2pinot · 09/04/2012 18:57

cyb-yup i was planning the sultry waves and got the same result
i look about 90!
maybe will try with fewer rollers in or somethiing next time

MissFoodie · 09/04/2012 19:20

blob how long have you left the SA on for? this was my 3rd time, I did 5 mins 2nd time and 7 mins today (3rd time)

blobtobetter · 09/04/2012 20:04

About 3 minutes! Will try longer next time only did it yesterday though! Might be a bit soon.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 09/04/2012 21:51

weesa the point of building up gradually with the minutes is so your skin gets used to the acid before you full on fry it. in salons they get you to use a daily low % cream for a while beforehand instead. so... you wouldn't necessarily see/feel anything happen during the first few peels.

cyb those curls... Grin

gilbert to save myself from watching the acid boil, i go downstairs and generally arse around in the kitchen and then realise the time and have to do a panicky sprint two floors up again to neutralise. will be quite leisurely tonight with 7 whole minutes at my disposal!

MissFoodie · 09/04/2012 22:15

am actually envious of you GA lot and your sizzling...
all I get is stinging heat!

NotMostPeople · 09/04/2012 22:26

Last week I did my first GA peel but the SA arrived in the meantime and it looked to be more appropriate for my skin so tonight I did SA. It didn't sting anything like as much as the GA and no sizzle when you put on the neutraliser. It said one minute for the first time but as I'd done the Ga the week before I did two, can't see much difference tbh but it's still early days.

I'm laying off the clarisonic today and tomorrow as I find it a bit drying (a first for me) but will go back to it for the rest of the week.

MissFoodie · 09/04/2012 23:04

you dont need to neutralise SA, just rinse off with tepid/cold water

WeesaD · 09/04/2012 23:08

Thanks Season. By full on fry it do you mean a longer time, or higher %?

SeasonOfTheWitch · 09/04/2012 23:18

longer time - i guess the 'real' peel is at 6 - 7 mins.

OP posts:
NotMostPeople · 10/04/2012 00:39

Miss Foodie my SA came with neutraliser and instructions on how to use it.

MissFoodie · 10/04/2012 10:12

are you sure it's not GA you have?
I have the SA and it doesn't state anywhere that you're supposed to neutralise, nor did it come with any?

Whitershadeofpale · 10/04/2012 11:19

My face has really peeled the last few days so I think I'll definately leave it a week this time and probably not increase the time.

MissFoodie · 10/04/2012 12:15

Yes, I have peeling nose after yesterday's 3rd peel - will also wait a week

winefairy · 10/04/2012 12:43

I'm two peels in with the GA and getting good results. Am fresher of face. No peeling but stings like buggery.

Is anyone else nearly blinding themselves when they rinse the neutraliser off? I can't find the correct method for washing acid off your face without it going in yours eyes. This may actually account for the fact that I believe I am looking like a radiant fox. I am suffering from blurry acid eyes.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 10/04/2012 13:31

final GA peel of the course last night (7 mins) and the first one i was desperate to neutralise as it was pretty itchy/stingy by the end.

v pleased with the results and no redness or peeling. is that a difference between GA and SA then?

winefairy i kind of pat the neutraliser on and then rinse off in a sinkful of water. never seems to go in my eyes but it shouldn't be a problem anyway as it wouldn't be acid anyway once the alkaline bicarb's been added.

TattyDevine · 10/04/2012 13:33

I did a 7 minute one yesterday

Looking fine.

Pores are microscopic.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 10/04/2012 13:38

my pores are much smaller but i still have some blackheads Sad am wondering if i need the SA for those.

how long will you leave it for the next course?

have just uploaded pic from today of final results
