new thread!

OP posts:
Hopefully · 04/04/2012 12:26

I love it when I get time alone with either DS - it's lovely to be able to pay them one-on-one attention rather than just herding them! Saying that, they're increasingly lovely together as they start to be interested in one another and play a bit.

MIM I love the whole faded denim jacket look, but it's one of those ones that just doesn't suit me in the least Sad.

Annie I chuckled at your brief foray into larkdom Grin

Blue it is extremely exciting! I am perpetually surrounded by scraps of paper now as I try to make the numbers stack up.

Did another 5:45 run this morning. Dare I say I actually enjoyed it again? New trainers are brilliant too - no knee pain at all for the entire run.

OllieinOrange · 04/04/2012 14:22

Running in again - hate not having the time to read and post properly. Hope all is well in W&A land.

Ants is this your first week 'on holiday'? Hope you are enjoying lots of you time and pottering.

Pickled we had a mini in London pre kids and loved it. Have had to put my plan of buying one on hold until DH's job situation is settled. They are the best car I have driven - so nippy and just a joy to drive.

My sister left last night and friend and her family arrive late afternoon. Am feeling a bit visitored out already tbh.
Im now off to make chocolate birds nests out of cornflakes with a jelly bean egg in each one and Easter cupcakes - DSs have a special Easter breakfast at school tomorrow. Have already established with DSs that cupcakes and crispie cakes will not be putting in an appearance on our home breakfast menu anytime soon Smile.....but maybe on mine Grin

Emo76 · 04/04/2012 14:37

big wave to everyone, can't keep up and struggling to dress for the ever changing weather!!

ReineDeSaba · 04/04/2012 15:30

invites self over for breakfast at chez ollie

girls are in bath post (very very messy!) easter egg making..one of DH's brothers comes over from the States tomorrow..am sure he will be thrilled by their(slightly unhygienic due to irrestistabilty)home made gift Wink

We are then away for about a week so am envisaging it to be like having a nanny in tow when actually it will probably be like having another child to look after Hmm

annie we co-sleep too so we do have phases when DD2 will get up early with us so obviously nothing gets done.I do the late night thing when I Have to get something done for the next day as cannot guarantee early mornings will be child free.

emo yes!yes! to confusing weather..did someone say snow..

fritzi hope you have a wonderful time..am currently doing a lot of decluttering and kept thinking of your lovely pig project when sorting through DD1's art cupboard..we have a lot of unfinished projects that look remarkably like piles of painted toilet rolls!

suburban thank you for the compliments re-DDs..all who have met me can attest they don't look anything like me!

pickled 3 hours! I seem to have missed that one..do I need to book in advance do you think?..don't remember doing so last time.am going with my foot/shoe fetish friend so could be interesting(my ex tango partner!)

hopefully very helpful stuff about business.DH home late a lot and no family help so will be quite different here.maybe I can negotiate one early return.
Meant to ask you if you sorted things re-the dentist.also suggest electric toothbrush if you are not already using and let the brush do ALL the work.you can actually buy some sort of smart brush now that tells you if you are brushing too hard.haven't tried, very expensive but obviously may be worth it to stop further damage.

blue and mim I think it's lovely you are already carving out time with your DS1s..I sat down with DD1 a few days ago while DD2 napping and felt like I hadn't managed that in ages.

amber you poor, poor thing..I would be so shorttempered, how you are holding it together,I don't know.I totally agree with marsha re the difficulty of trying to work out solutions when you are sleep deprived Sad

sorry for epic post and waves to everyone.

IceCreamCastles · 04/04/2012 16:47

Quick wave from me too.
Things still going pretty well here. Ds is great (we'll ignore the fact that he didn't really fancy sleeping last night and instead managed to cover my bed with several types of bodily fluid!)

Dd has settled into things too and is back to her usual self. Yy to loving spending time with older dcs. We don't get long though and I do miss her.

Still woefully out of the fashion loop an v Envy at the exercise/running conversations!

Will have to be strict on budget for next few months anyway as we discovered this morning (whilst it was snowing) that our central heating had broken and we're going to have to get a new boiler. Grrr.

V me me me-sorry! Will try to keep up

AmberNectarine · 04/04/2012 19:08

Blimey, it's quiet on here today. You all off being parents or something?

OP posts:
MidnightinMoscow · 04/04/2012 19:26

Hello.

Lol Amber!

Had a lovely day, a good friend came to visit and bought a home cooked meal for DH and I tonight - what an angel she is.

It's our wedding anniversary today - 3 years. It's a good to sit back and look at what we have achieved, we have been very blessed.

Fritzi - thank you so, so much for the beautiful gift for DD. It is such a pretty baby grow and so kind of you. DS has been playing with his bubbles this afternoon too!

Icey good to hear from you and glad things are going well. Annoying about the boiler though.

Blue here is the Miranda Kerr picture - she looks fab. Envy

Ollie thanks for the offer re Boden top, however now you say it's cream I'm not so sure. I think I need white. Am liking the Gap top that Amber linked to yesterday. Your baking sounds wonderful.

I laughed at your DD's gift to your Brother in law Reine, I'm sure he'll love it. Hope you have a great holiday next week.

I am sure I have missed loads, please forgive! Am starting to hit the wall of tiredness, will be hitting the hay for an hour after dinner.

MidnightinMoscow · 04/04/2012 19:27

Meant to say thanks for the denim jacket recs. I have a top to return to H&M so am hoping I might find one in there in exchange.

AmberNectarine · 04/04/2012 19:51

Ah, she looks just like me, that Miranda.

OP posts:
Portia4 · 04/04/2012 19:55

Evening All!

Popped in to Stradivarius a shop that the DDs often shop in and spotted this cute top which is really fresh looking in the white and chambray, and this this one. This jacket has a lovely sheen to it even though it's 100% cotton. . This jacket could be styled a la Wendy, although it's cheap it's not bad quality.

Hope that everyone is having a pleasant Easter break, we have friends coming to stay at the weekend so lots of prep to be done!

Portia4 · 04/04/2012 20:27

Having seeen Kate Moss sporting skinny flares last week, I've been wearing these this week and received two random compliments from strangers! Maybe it's time to revisit... I hadn't worn them for about a year and was wearing a billowy chiffon blouse, a blazer and heels of course.,

MrsCampbellBlack · 04/04/2012 20:39

Amber - we must be twins as when I saw Miranda - I too thought it was me Wink

Portia - I am loving a baby bootcut at the moment - in fact I started a thread on the very subject Smile

Feel huge at the moment - and where has the weather gone - feel all out of sorts and just don't know what to wear anymore . . .

Hopefully · 04/04/2012 21:24

Happy anniversary MIM!

Portia I quite like a bootcut in the right circumstances, but I think a heel is basically essential, and I can't cope with wearing heels daily, I would die and/or fall over.

Icey nightmare! Hope you didn't get too chilly.

Thanks Reine - I've actually been contemplating one of those don't-push-too-hard brushes, as I think my biggest problem is over-enthusiastic brushing, due to a weird phobia about unclean teeth Blush. Sensitivity is actually much improved since I started brushing a lot more gently, but figure I'd better look after what's left of my gums! Can't believe I have tooth issues at 29 Hmm. Well, gum issues. My teeth are the picture of health...

Oh, and fitting in self employment with a DH who isn't home early is definitely more challenging! I find I can cope with lots of odd half hours/hours grabbed during the week as long as I get one good session of 4-6 hours in on the weekend every 3 weeks or so - if I don't get that in I find I slightly lose the thread of what I'm doing and every half hour of work grabbed is spent trying to get back up to speed rather than actually achieving stuff.

suburbanstyle · 04/04/2012 21:38

Mrs CB I feel the same today I wore grey jumper, grey scarf, black jeans and a massive scowl. I don't normally mind the cold, but not when I have been tricked into thinking summer is on the way...

Bad luck with the boiler icecream I keep uncovering bad DIY and am sure we will be hit by something expensive any minute.

Relocation sounds so exciting Hopefully are you going far? We have drifted quite a lot and I feel a bit unnerved to have finally put some roots down.

Reine I look nothing like my DD either, an old lady once came up to us and said how beautiful she was when I thanked her she said, "oh she looks nothing like you dear, her father must have the good looks" Hmm

I am very Envy of all those with snuggly newborns I adored that stage, toddlerhood less so. What a lovely way to spend you anniversary MiM

I have these topshop bootcuts in Indigo and wore a lot with wooden heeled sandals last year.

AmberNectarine · 04/04/2012 21:56

Ah, now you see today I was determined that IT WAS SPRING, so I wore my bright pink espadrilles. Mightily cheering.

mrsCB sadly the only thing Miranda and I have in common is the red jeans, which look like 811s. Oh and dark hair. I'm lacking the megastar husband and underwear modelling career. Model agencies missing a trick there.

Happy anniversary MiM! What a lovely way to celebrate!

In a few days time it will be the anniversary of the 'oh my god' moment I had in the ladies at work involving a very faint blue line after a particularly irrational row with DH over instant messenger. Ah, memories!

Giving Jillian a nice off

OP posts:
AmberNectarine · 04/04/2012 21:57

Or even night off. I think she needs it.

OP posts:
Hopefully · 04/04/2012 22:12

Amber poor Jillian must be knackered beating all of us into submission Grin. Your OMG moment sounds fairly OMG.

Suburban it will be a couple of hundred miles (I think. Haven't even looked at how far it actually is), but to an area we sort of know, and we have relatives within an hour or so of where it is and would be a bit close to my mother, so it's not quite as alarming as it might otherwise be. Plus I'll get to do the work I want to, which is mega mega mega exciting! I bloody hate the newborn stage, but think toddlers are awesome - maybe you and I could come up with some kind of child timeshare arrangement Wink

pickledsiblings · 04/04/2012 22:26

Hopefully, glad you and DH have made a plan and are back in control. I get the feeling that after lots of hanging around waiting on other people you are both raring to move on to the next exciting chapter. Good luck with it all Smile.

Fritzi and Ollie, thanks for the mini info - have sat in one and they are v. desirable, test drive tomorrow. Are you meeting up for a macaroon with Bonsoir Fritzi?

Icey, MiM and Blue, hope you manage to get a bit of extra sleep help over the holiday period.

Big wave to all the W&Aers 'abroad' atm - hope the weather is being kind and that you are happy with your wardrobes.

DD and I have had a Dawson's Creek fest here today as we are both suffering from sore throats - any excuse!

suburbanstyle · 04/04/2012 22:28

sounds good to me hopefully Grin.

I think I will take a leaf out of your book and wear something bright tomorrow Amber. I also had an OMG moment, thankfully not at work, as my uncontrollable sobbing would have blown annie's golden rule right out of the window.

VerityBrulee · 04/04/2012 22:33

This weather is shocking isn't it? I become totally preoccupied with keeping warm which tends to suck the joy out of life. Hopefully it will be over soon, I had just dug my Hasbeens out of a packing box when it started to hail! Icey hope you get your boiler fixed pronto.

I ordered the TS ponte blazer in white when it came back in stock yesterday. The sizing is v generous, I had grabbed the last one in store which was a 12, thought I might shrink it in the wash Hmm Last time I did that, with a pair of Sandro jeans that I knew were too big when I bought them (why, why, why) I ended up in a circle of purchase/return every 2 weeks because of the returns policy. I will never buy there again, at least TS make returns easy.

No RL shopping here due to school hols, not to mention cat with upset stomach which necessitated an overnight stay at vets, drip to rehydrate her and bill of 150 Euro

Fritzi have a fab time in Paris Envy

Amber I really feel for you on the lack of sleep, love how you manage to maintain your sense of humour though, your posts always make me smile!

Annie hope work has calmed down now and you have a good break over Easter.

Ollie I bet you are a fantastic host and people love staying with you Smile

My firstborn will be 14 tomorrow Shock He is a lovely boy and makes me very proud, but I just cannot believe it is 14 years since I was in labour for the first time. It was around this time that my waters broke. I am always very nostalgic around my dc's birthdays remembering the events, but a bit moreso with ds1 as it was all such a new experience.

Hope that those who are in sunnier climes are making the most of it Smile

bretonbee · 04/04/2012 23:10

S&B disaster this week as yesterday I managed to crack the heel on my one and only much loved black patent louboutins at work Sad. If anyone happens to know anywhere to get them fixed, would be very grateful.

Apart from that have been very busy with work. DS is potty training this week with his nanny - it seems to be going well although after she left this evening he had an accident on the kitchen floor Hmm so slightly concerned about taking over for the long weekend.

Hope everyone has lovely Easter weekends. I am treating myself on Friday for long overdue trip to Selfridges - have a voucher that needs using for a facial and want to try on lots of stuff. Mainly I need jeans for summer....thinking MIH Paris but not sure what colour. Hopefully will have lots of links after that. My only other shopping was jumping on the boden top bandwagon and have ordered the navy...

Have enjoyed keeping up with other bits of the thread here and there in quiet moments. Definitely feel for you Amber and the other sleep deprived mums and it brought back memories of my attempting to go back to work when DS was 9 1/2 months and wondering why my brain didn't actually function anymore - took me ages to actually admit it might be sleep deprivation. I also read the no cry sleep solution and despite really not understanding how making the bedtime routine more strict would help with nightime wakings it did Shock ...although he is still far from perfect at 28 months.

surburban also wanted to say that I like your blog and I bought the Benefit eye paste on your recommendation which is really good.

NSG I have the BR trench in cream. I wear it mainly for work but I really like it and have had a lot of compliments.

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/04/2012 07:11

Suburban - you are so pretty and slender and love your peplum top. Did you see Lisa Armstrong in the telegraph in a See NY peplum - it looked fab.

Breton - if you take the shoes back to wherever you purchased they should get them repaired for you - friend has done this recently. And have a lovely time in Selfridges.

I still need to potty train DD - after the easter holidays.

Verity - I am getting much stricter now about only ordering or buying from shops who I can rely on for good return policies.

MidnightinMoscow · 05/04/2012 07:29

Morning All.

Wet and grey here today - although it doesn't make much difference to what I am wearing at the moment! My goodness, this time round my scar is much more uncomfortable.

Meant to say to NSG I have the BR trench too, I find it comes up quite big and long in the arms. I bought the petite version in the end.

I know what you mean about the whole returns policy...VB and MrsCB, I just cannot be bothered with any store that makes it anything other than simple. Agree TS is good, given you can return in store. That blazer does come up big, I ended up with a 10, rather than my usual 12 in jackets.

Trip to Selfridges sounds great Breton and well deserved.

Sorry about the sore throats pickled.

blossoming · 05/04/2012 07:36

Hola a todas!
Greetings from a not so sunny and rather chilly, Roxy and 50/50s wearing Spain.
Flight was cancelled on Monday, meant heading to another airport, overnight stay, 4am start Tuesday, landing in another region of Spain and an eye wateringly expensive taxi ride.
Still, there is CAVA in the breakfast buffet!!!
Also managed 20 laps of front crawl in the hotel pool and the VL bikini stayed in place, even when pushing off the side. Will definitely get another after ebaying next week.

Brilliant blackout linings mean the dcs are still asleep at 8.36. Unheard of.
Hasta luego!

blossoming · 05/04/2012 07:38

Forgot I meant to say breton, I fell down stairs in Jimmy Choos, broke the heel, phoned the store, sent them to them and they repaired them. Came back as new.
