FLE I have read it, and my trying the pull off method. I really wouldn't mind if it were genuine hunger, but she really is using me as a dummy, and that is what's frustrating. I managed to get her to sleep today for the first time EVER without bf, so I'm feeling quite pleased. And she slept for nearly an hour, IN HER COT

It's a start amber! Hope things continue to improve. And if i were you I would inform your DH that it's time he learned to function on less sleep. People who can't cope on less sleep irritate me when I'm having to cope on less sleep. . I have to say that DS2's sleep improved a lot when I stopped feeding, because he was taking absolutely tiny feeds - he was genuinely hungry at night, but we replaced 8-10 BFs with 2-3 bottlesa night, some of which DH could do.

Blue poor you, hope you feel better soon. I was lucky in a way to have such an atrocious sleeper in DS1 - expectations were low for DS2 (and he was actually a worse sleeper than even DS1, but at least not as miserable with colic).

Slay hope the wedges are good!

Have just spent most of my April clothing budget on running shoes. They are, dare I say it, even less attractive in RL, but are like running on air (vital for me and my knackered, operated-on knees). A really satisfying way to sink money Hmm

Tried on aviators on the weekend. I may have to admit defeat, as I suspect I look like a lunatic in them. I seem to only suit small sporty shaped sunglasses, like this sort of thing.

MarshaBrady · 03/04/2012 14:45

That's good Amber. Ds2 is only now falling asleep in his own bed, holding my hand. Takes minutes so not bad at all.

The one thing I got from no sleep book was permission to relax a bit about how bad it was. I agree it's being used as a dummy v hunger at 9months. I think we did one midnight then 4 or 5am then breakfast.

MarshaBrady · 03/04/2012 14:48

I need new trainers for running Hopefully I've had the same ones for... Too long to say.

MidnightinMoscow · 03/04/2012 15:02

Hello All.

Sympathies on the sleep front Amber, I am just starting to remember that hazy sleep deprived feeling. DS was a dreadful sleeper, we ended up co-sleeping until he was one-ish, purely out of desperation to get some sleep. If it helps, he is a great sleeper now and rarely wakes.

Interesting to hear about all the owl/lark talk. I am 100% a lark, maybe from years of starting work for 07.30 am has trained me. I am useless at staying up late. 9pm is easily my natural sleep time. Total rock n roll here. Grin

Sorry to hear you are feeling ill blue, that will always make tiredness feel far worse. Hope you are on the mend soon, take care of yourself though.

Having a very nice few weeks here with DH at home. DD is being delightful, she is certainly far more relaxed than DS. She had her first bath the other night and didn't flinch. I was amazed! However, she is full of cold already and so sleep is minimal here too.

Meant to say Amber I have seen that Kooples top you linked to the other day, it's lovely but somewhat flimsy material for the price.

I am kicking myself for not ordering the Boden top that a few of you have. Now out of stock.

OllieinOrange · 03/04/2012 15:28

Oh MiM I wish I knew that - Ive literally just sent mine back today to exchange for the navy. The cream just didn't do anything for me - esp on the arms, just clashed with my skin tone! Maybe you could ring them to ask if you could recieve mine (happy for you to tell them my name etc - can even send you the order number to help them track it?). Would have love it in white but navy will hopefully be a good colour on me.

Dauphin · 03/04/2012 15:58

Yes, I am contemplating new running shoes too Marsha . Want light, streamlined ones. My trainers get very mucky running around here. That said, I haven't managed a run so far this week. Am going for short one tonight as really need it.

Mim so glad its going well.

It's raining here. And am sporting a cardi-coat over my ensemble.

Dauphin · 03/04/2012 16:02

Oh, am on the hunt for a pretty silk, kimono style dressing gown...anyone seen?

pickledsiblings · 03/04/2012 16:27

Ollie, thought of you today when I saw this star print shirt. The fabric is really lovely, 30% silk/70%cotton, v. nice indeed.

Amber, saw this striped maxi - looks good! About the broken sleep, rubbish as it is, as long as you get at least one 4 hr stretch per night, you won't go insane Smile.

DS1 has been at Rugby Camp today in our nearest city so I have had the opportunity to do some shopping in a real life store - bought nothing but it was fun looking Grin. I also saw a white white breton for Bloss but I can't remember the label, 2 words and French but not FC...??

pickledsiblings · 03/04/2012 16:29

btw, it's impossible to look 'round the shops nowadays without thinking of you guys.

Also, Slay, which Chloe wedges did you get? Hope you love them.

hopefully you must have such a well trained DH. Well jeal. I have tried to have the 'you need to man up' conversation but he just gets defensive and it's all to tedious. I, fortunately, am a lot tougher, and we WILL get there. Thanks for article link annie I remember you telling me about your methods which I thought sounded great. My main issue is DD's room being next to DS's with a paper thin wall in between. I can handle a bit of wailing, but don't want him disturbed.

Funny you should mention the kooples top mim as I bought this as a substitute today. It was lovely, but as you say, way to flimsy for the price, especially factoring in baby and toddler damage! Hope your little lady gives you some rest soon, and yours blue!

I like that a lot pickled - definitely worth a try on, will source!

Dauphin - have you been to the Ile-de-Ré? We love Ars-en-Ré in this family and are going there for a long weekend in May with another family - I can't wait Smile.

I haven't made up my mind about the Princesse Tam Tam swimsuit, but bought another one yesterday by D Nu D this one but in khaki. It's very flattering on - the seams around the waist are very slimming.

suburbanstyle · 03/04/2012 19:33

Thanks for the book link NSG have duly ordered. I really like the Banana Republic Trench and think it would be really useful. I think i need a navy mac/parka/trench, I went out this afternoon in khaki trousers and a cream raincoat and looked a bit like I was off on Safari.

Glad you like the peplum blue. I have stretched the Topshop returns policy before as well and they don't seem to mind. I bought some peppermint skinnies too after seeing the J brand ones in Vogue, not sure what to wear them with yet though.

I am in awe of hopefully's DH, mine just can't wake up when DD does, just can't Hmm. Because of this I used to turf him into the spare room when doing sleep training/having a bad night because I found that I found it less annoying if he wasn't in the same room ignoring sleeping through everything. Also it guilted him into getting up early and giving me a lie in so could catch up that way...

Does anyone else like Made in Chelsea? It's my guilty pleasure, I am going to reward myself with Wine and an episode after more wallpaper stripping.

Hopefully · 03/04/2012 19:43

I have to say that we were quite a long way into this whole parenting lark before I realised that DH was remotely unusual in the amount he did Blush. It's actually kind of awful, because he is basically always trying to prove himself after a childhood of his father telling him he was crap, so he feels he has to be super-competent at everything he does, including (especially) parenting.

Marsha I'd been wearing the same running shoes since I was 20 until I bought those ones today. And that decade-long period included a long stretch of daily road running. Whoops.

In other news, looks like DH isn't going to take the job locally Shock as they have mucked him around a bit now and he isn't interested in working for another bonkers company (he wants to leave his current one largely because it is run so very oddly). So we are now doing some fairly serious sums about relocating. Eek!!!

FritziGreenEyes · 03/04/2012 19:47

Off to Paris with our nephew (10) tomorrow. DD at my parents'. Have to iron some tops and pack and get nephew to take a shower. Our train leaves at 6a.m. tomorrow.

Have missed too much of this thread to check out all links properly...

Hope that the reds have arrived safely in SA and enjoying the sunshine in Cape Town.

notyummy's holiday update sounds fantastic!

pickled Love my Mini but not sure how practical it would be for ferrying around three children + sports kit or whatever paraphernalia they need to take to school with them as the boot is really tiny.

bloss Have you already left? Chanel April is the color red wore at MU. Hope you can get a bottle at the airport. Enjoy your holiday! Fingers crossed the weather will be better than the forecast predicts.

blue2711 · 04/04/2012 01:56

Exciting news about the relocating hopefully! Your DH does sound very helpful indeed. I am very grateful that mine does pretty much all the cooking but don't go on about it too much to him in case he stops!

slay I think I'll wear the peppermint jeans with plain neutral things like a loose white or grey tee, a cream knit, a navy vest etc. I'm not very good at wearing two 'trend' items in one outfit or even two proper colours. Have failed completely at colour blocking! Did absolutely love your blue floral peplum with pale punk jeans, however, so perhaps should be more adventurous.

bonsoir loving your new luxe swimwear. Would like a one piece myself but need serious padding in the chest area and haven't seen anything that would work yet.

mim lovely to hear you so cheerful. Often think of you and your DD when I'm up with mine like now. Hope icey is well too.

Still full of cold but the horrible sinus pain has eased and hoping the worst is over. Ended up having nice day though as a lovely new friend came over with her DC.

blue2711 · 04/04/2012 01:58

Meant pink jeans of course, not punk!
Have fun in Paris fritzi!

blue2711 · 04/04/2012 01:59

Argh, I meant to address peppermint jeans chat to suburban not slay! Sorry. Clearly this middle of the night posting is not as effective as it could be...

MidnightinMoscow · 04/04/2012 07:23

Good morning.

Up with DS for a change, is nice to spend so time alone with him again.

I often think of both blue and Icey in the small hours too. Grin

Hope you have a wonderful time Fritzi in Paris.

Have decided to not purchase anything now until I am back to my normal weight. I have far less to lose this time, (I think that earlier food poisoning episode helped Wink) and so I shall wait. However, I am hankering after the picture of Miranda Kerr that suburban linked too, skinny red jeans, grey T and a cropped denim jacket. She looked so chic.

Which makes me think I want to get a new denim jacket. My one is pretty dark denim and not cropped enough really. Think I would like a far more washed finish. I know that MrsCB rates Gap Kids ones. So maybe I'll be breaking my no buying rule after all.

AmberNectarine · 04/04/2012 08:01

TS had some cute cropped denim jackets in MiM

blue2711 · 04/04/2012 08:02

Hello mim! I really treasure times alone with DS too. DH was home early last night and I really enjoyed doing bath and stories with DS without my lovely little limpet attached!

I missed that Miranda Kerr pic, where was it? she always looks amazing, grrr. I have all three components of that look so will try and imitate - and probably won't look chic at all! My light blue, very shrunken denim jacket is invaluable in summer. Love it with sleeves rolled up over dresses or skirts but haven't really tried with jeans. Mine is TS (of course!)

DS has just woken up - must go!
