Marni for H&M

Anyone had any luck? I'm at work and refreshed the homepage for 1 our solid before finally getting in. I ordered three sleeveless v-neck blouses, a skirt and a set of bracelets. The dresses were all sold out unfortunately. Anyone bought irl? What's it like?

Have ordered the silver sandals, as they were the only thing that might suit me. Think it's a lovely collection but not really my style.

CointreauVersial · 08/03/2012 19:32

He he! Someone is even selling Marni for H&M coat hangers on eBay.

MarshaBrady · 08/03/2012 19:34

They are quite good aren't they Grin

mirpuppet · 08/03/2012 19:45

Managed to pick up a coat; a belt; sunglasses & a silk shirt in store. Will see if can coordinate with some existing items & if not back it goes or it will be Ebayed.

I had no idea it was going on just wandered into the store at 2pm and picked the pieces. As all but the shirt were the only ones I assume someone had planned to purchase multiples and got denied at the till so back to the shop floor it went.

snowmummy · 09/03/2012 00:29

Coat hangers? Really, is anyone going to buy those?

maz78 · 09/03/2012 13:07

There are still a few things left, well there were this morning. I bought the v-neck top yesterday, I was on my iphone when I finally got onto the site and everything I wanted seemed to be sold out. I was feeling rather disappointed but this morning I managed to get the top I really wanted and a skirt. I can always take things back if they're not 100% right for me.

PlumSykes · 09/03/2012 13:12

Have just done big try on, currently hanging out in silk maxi and big white necklace, ignoring the stack of jobs I should be doing.

Bonsoir · 09/03/2012 13:17

Sounds lovely Plum. Did you get any bracelets?

maz78 · 09/03/2012 13:37

I'm jealous, I really wanted to big white flower necklace. Is that the one you have?

PlumSykes · 09/03/2012 14:02

No bracelets, Bonsoir, I never wear them, find a watch irritating enough.

Necklace has cup shaped flowers, I also got the one with more open flowers in black

Of my 12 items, only 3 def going back. Should really select another 2.

corygal · 09/03/2012 14:24

OOh, I got online! We have very fast broadband at work, so I refreshed every 3 secs and only queued for an hour to get in. Got the lot, but it's in the post.

Pseudonymity · 09/03/2012 14:34

Looking at the Grazia pictures I had a sudden realisation that Marni on more than a size 8 figure = Boden Shock. Thinking in particular of the spot skirt.

Kudos to those of you who managed to get stuff, it does look seriously lovely - the best of the designer collaborations I've seen. I am no good at shopping in a hurry and refuse to be budged from my position.

Loads of Marni stuff for good prices on the outnet. Some of it rather lovely.

Bonsoir · 09/03/2012 17:39

PlumSykes - I know exactly what you mean about bracelets being irritating, and I would probably not have worn them even if I had managed to grab them from the heaving crowds in the Champs-Elysées store.

I had the cup-shaped white flower necklace in my bag as well as the other white one and its black twin. I am rather regretting having put the cup-shaped flower necklace back on the shelf - it is very pretty. But it was very hard to get it right yesterday - so many people, so little time and rather dark lighting to boot that made choosing difficult.

What are you thinking of returning? Have you put together whole outfits or are you going to mix and match with other clothes?

GavisonandOn · 09/03/2012 17:42

I thought it was totally Emperors new clothes - poor tailoring and Boden-esque jewellery.

I did think the swimming cossie was cute, but they had sold out of a 12 by the time I got there Sad.

Ach well. Overrated, imo.

herecomesthsun · 09/03/2012 18:04

Yes, I was also thinking that it looks like the remnants of the Boden clearance sale, from what I can see, lots of dingy, would-be vintage prints, circle patterns, chunky plastic jewellery...

MrsCampbellBlack · 09/03/2012 18:15

You see in my opinion tis boden that tries to be mumsy/cut priced marni Smile

But each to their own.

Bonsoir · 09/03/2012 18:23

MrsCampbellBlack - I find it hard to entertain the idea that Consuelo Castiglioni has even heard of Johnny Boden Smile

The5thFishy · 09/03/2012 18:36

The necklace and collar are very funny.

GavisonandOn · 09/03/2012 18:40

Its 'trendy' middle-aged though, isnt it? Not the look I aspire to, to be frank.

MrsCampbellBlack · 09/03/2012 18:44

Marni clearly isn't for everyone but I think the stuff looks fab on all the photos I've seen online.

Beats a nice tunic anyday of the week Smile

Bonsoir - you just know she's scrutinising the boden preview right now for inspiration Wink

Bonsoir · 09/03/2012 18:51

Yes, and wishing she could swap her Formentera finca for a nice Norfolk beach Smile

ReadyToDie · 09/03/2012 18:55

Oooooh catty...

Yes I confess, I am secretly well jel of your plastic tat necklaces and sack dresses, honest

ReadyToDie · 09/03/2012 18:56

Grazia thinks you're cool, anyway

MrsCampbellBlack · 09/03/2012 19:11

Lordy - its just clothes - if you don't like it then don't wear it.

But when people are posting about how pleased they are with things they've bought - I just feel its a bit mean to say how horrid you think it is.

But then I know Bonsoir and Plum are both uber-chic and glam so am going to trust their judgement Smile

ReadyToDie · 09/03/2012 19:34

I thought Avid and Wise was for harping on about purchases yoi are pleased with? this thread is called 'Marni at H&M', so I thought we were invited to give our opinions?
