i know I think i did.
ALl bagged up, flat boots, look of grim determination. In my day it was all combat trousers, quilty gilets and timberlands.
now its ugly Fly boots and ill fitting skinnies

Just returned from the (very busy) park, where I conducted an unscientific survey. ALL mothers of toddlers were either in jeans, trainers and jackets, or leggings boots and tunics. Or shalwar kameez.

As it's unlikely that each and every one of them is totally unaware of current fashion, or physically incapable of wearing a skirt, I conclude that such attire is chosen because it's practical, comfortable and washable. Who knows, these abberations may even change into peplum blouses or pyjama suits, or whatever else is 'on trend' at the moment, to go out in the evenints.

ok Im a scruffy mum; need some new cons.. have a black anorak, never get time etc, but would wear more makeup if someone could recommend me

*eye makeup remover that works on sensitive, contact-lens wearing eyes
*narrow shoes for big size 9 feet

  • I like the idea of a mini over leggings, but fear Im the wrong side of 30?

well i think with toddlers it gets a bit hard to grab on sm stylish stuff becoz u want to make sure u r not going to make thingz harder for urself by getting very conscious about ur outfits, want to keep thingz simple but as im in my pretoddler phase,i feel i would love to wear sm gud styles becoz as thingz get tough the tough gets going so i think at toddler phase of my motherhood, ill be more confident about my outlooks n have new looks n classy touch,y cant we hav it,we r worth it

Have to say I really can't blame my lack of style on my toddlers. I have always been a bit like this - was thinking tonight even if I'm feeling good about myself if I have one or two decent outfits that make me feel okay, I kind of stop thinking about it. Some people never stop thinking about outfits, ideas, potential ways to look. If I have a pair of jeans that look good, some shoes I love, a great bag and a good coat... I'm happy. I rarely buy dresses, never go for prints, am a bit of a monochrome/shades of grey person, and struggle to think beyond what I know. Often wish I wasn't like that but am 41 and don't think I'll change.

It's the same if you ask me as all the glossy magazines trying to convince us that all new mums have an immaculate home. Lovely in theory but highly unlikely in real life, unless you have OCD.
When will we all admit that motherhood is quite enough for most of us to cope with thank you very much and if we earn a living, still have sex and wear eye liner well that is a bonus.

Saina123. Try typing in normal English

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 26/02/2012 08:52

Saina - you seem like a lovely person. A word to the wise Wink - we write in plain English on this site.

It makes it so much easier for all of us (English-speakers) to decipher what each of us is writing about. I had to go back and read and re-read your post due to all the misspellings - it was too much like hard work.

It would be nice to see more of you around here, but please write in English; not text-speak.

Thanks. :)

Are you Cheryl Cole, saina?

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 26/02/2012 13:56
