is size 8 a big foot?

I don't mean a yeti.

But if you are a size 8, do you every have difficulty finding shoes that don't look like they are made for clowns?

I was just looking for some nice plain shoes for everyday, and struggling to find them in my size without them being men's shoes/looking Clyde-built. When I was a teenager it was worse, as I used to be sent to the men's shoe section of shops, so at least there are some places that cater for the larger of foot now.

what are the extremes of foot size, would you say, and what size are you? Do you think your feet are big or small?

dead, these ones are lovely, and in your size

great for summer

Jellykat · 19/02/2012 21:07

I'm a size 10 - very looooooong (and very thin) 'chicken feet'..
So size 8 sounds absolutely perfect to me! Grin

Mrsrduvall I'm with you 100%!!

Mrsrobertduvall · 19/02/2012 21:10

Oh do fuck off cyb. [ grin]
i got all excited then.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 19/02/2012 21:10

aniseed I am the same as you, size 9s but very narrow.

I don't have a problem finding shoes which are size 9s, but I do have trouble wearing court shoes or ballet flats as they just fall off my feet.

I also have ugly toes from cramming them into 7s and 8s when I was younger and size 9s were unavailable.

Oh god at being a size 10 - that must be bloody near impossible to find shoes.

SharkBite · 19/02/2012 21:10

My mum is a 9.5AA. She used to have to go to the small & tall shoe shop in London, but there is a specialist shop in Surrey she goes to now.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 19/02/2012 21:11

I always feel self conscious wearing skinny jeans and flat shoes since one joker said I looked like a golf club.

Melpomene · 19/02/2012 21:14

I would say size 8 is big from the perspective that I know it can be difficult getting shoes that size, but I don't think I have ever looked at a woman and thought "ooh, her feet look big".

I'm 5ft 2in with size 7 feet (had to buy size 8 trainers recently) so think I have pretty big feet for my height and in a weird way I'm kind of proud of it (as I'm short I'm kind of glad there's one part of me that's big!) My dd1 is aged 8 and has size 4 feet already.

cybbo · 19/02/2012 21:14

Flat shoes and skinny jeans on a tall person deffo a no no

unless you go for a pair like these

Mrsrobertduvall · 19/02/2012 21:16

Oh the bastard GetOrfMoiLand.
I too feel self concious in skinnies and flats, even though I think I look like Audrey Hepburn I am really channelling Pennywise the Clown.

I am so bored with my wardrobe at the moment and can see nothing inspiring in the shops. And it's going to be 16 degrees on Thursday......white linen trousers and breton tshirts anyone?

Mrsrobertduvall · 19/02/2012 21:17

Did you take that in New Malden cyb?

cybbo · 19/02/2012 21:18

Lol

I've enjoyed googling 'giant shoes'

workshy · 19/02/2012 21:18

it is all about proportions

I'm a size 10 but people are always shocked when I tell them as they don't look that big -but I'm 6ft tall so in proportion

DD is only 8 but already in a 3 so I guess she has inherited my size which I actually feel a bit bad about

agree with how anoying it is to have to buy the shoes before the outfit though :(

cybbo · 19/02/2012 21:19

16 bastard degrees!?
Bloody hell

Piffpaffpoff · 19/02/2012 21:19

I'm an 8 too, and very wide so I have real problems finding nice shoes.

Anyone else enjoyed a lifetime of sales assistants coming back from the stockroom saying 'well we don't have an 8, would you like to try the 7?'. Oh yes, hang on til I cut off my toes.....

GetOrfMoiiLand · 19/02/2012 21:20

Why am I a bastard mrsrob? Grin

I got a pair of 7/8th trousers and some kitten heels last year, I looked like an absolute twat, in that it seemed that my trousers and shoes had shrunk. It is a fallacy that if you are tall and slim you can wear anything. Sometimes you have to be small to carry things off.

cybbo · 19/02/2012 21:21

Yes getorf I find being tall and slim an absolute bind

arf

Mrsrobertduvall · 19/02/2012 21:24

Not you getOrf Smile
you may laugh cyb, but it's hard being tall, slim and gorgeous.

mrspnut · 19/02/2012 21:25

I have wide size 8.5 feet and need a size 9 usually but with an inner sole. I hate having such big feet and I hate buying shoes.
High heels kill my feet, ballet flats kill my feet, breaking in any shoes at all kill my feet. I spend most parties in bare feet and I have hundreds of pairs that I have bought and never wear because they make my feet hurt or they don't fit properly.

Mrsrobertduvall · 19/02/2012 21:25

Ooh cyb- I'm going to Faint Balls in a couple of weeks to see Kev.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 19/02/2012 21:26

Oh I am not gorgeous. I am hatchet of face.

You may laugh but it's true. I always feel paranoid when I get dolled up in platform shoes and false eyelashes and the like in case someone accuses me of being a transvestite.

Trills · 19/02/2012 21:28

Are you hatchet-of-face even with your ByTerry makeup GetOrf? I thought you were supposed to be glam!

Mrsrobertduvall · 19/02/2012 21:30

You're too hard on yourself.
[ but I know where you're coming from]
dd has size 8 feet which look as if they've stopped growing.....

cybbo · 19/02/2012 21:30

Why are you seeing Kev?? How exciting I'll be next door!!

Mrsrobertduvall · 19/02/2012 21:32

I am going to make him swoon with my size 9.5s.

I may be doing some work there.
By next door do you mean infants or pub?

Jellykat · 19/02/2012 21:32

workshy Hallelujah! Another size 10er, i luvs you i do..
