What is the word for the kind of shoes that Converse are?

I want some silver ones.

Sequinned or glittery.

Not in the slightest bit bothered about them being "real" converse.

But I can't think of the right word so it's quite hard to google.

Baseball boots? Sounds weird but they are called that for kids. I'll have a little google.

wildstrawberryplace · 19/02/2012 15:43

sneakers, pumps, canvas

tinierclanger · 19/02/2012 15:44

I think you want a 'low top sneaker'. Smile

ArcticRoll · 19/02/2012 15:44

Also try hi-tops

wildstrawberryplace · 19/02/2012 15:44

although pumps in US seems to mean court shoes, dunno why

Trills · 19/02/2012 15:44

I used to have baseball boots in the 90s!

I mean flat ones.

"pumps" could be it but that word seems to be used for so many different kinds of shoe.

Like this:

silver boots

usualsuspect · 19/02/2012 15:45

Plimsolls?

Trills · 19/02/2012 15:48

"I mean flat ones" - helpful. I will do the Hmm face at myself. I mean I want ones that are not boots but are low-rise or low-top.

Trills · 19/02/2012 15:49

IN fact I want these but they are only left in a size 3

FayKnights · 19/02/2012 15:50

silver shoes

FayKnights · 19/02/2012 15:51

Google 'silver pump shoes' in images and a few pop up.

Trills · 19/02/2012 15:52

Dammit - this would be great if they had a 7!

FayKnights · 19/02/2012 15:55

Bugger, my links are of the same thing! Sorry Trills.

Next have a similar on to the New Look pair you like, it comes up on the same Google page.

MN rocks btw - that was very quick work!

Office say that in women's shoes an EU 41 is an 8, and in men's shoes an EU 41 is a 7.

This is
1- ridiculous
2- annoying when I am trying to order a pair of unisex trainers

FayKnights · 19/02/2012 16:01

The Converse are lovely!

noddyholder · 19/02/2012 16:02

plimsolls

Trills · 19/02/2012 16:03

Some other shop says that converse UK 7 are 40 and 8 are 41 1/2. I'll go for the big ones then.

Trills · 19/02/2012 16:03

Plimsolls is a very good word!

dd got some gorgeous gold ones in tesco last year, and I had black glittery one and silver sequinned ones frm primark a couple of years back

I'd call them sneakers, or plimsolls.

Trills · 19/02/2012 16:10

Just ordered the full-on Converse ones from Office - thanks everyone :)

Trills, I bought those exact ones from Branch 309 a couple of years ago ( just checked, sadly no longer in stock but were about 15 quid cheaper ), they have a kind of iridescence to the sequins, very pretty.
