New bowl of crisps, tuck in Ruby!

I am thrilled at this Pixi lust. Another of their things wot I like is the cheek gel in natural. It doesn't stay on very long but while it does it's well pretty.

I felt a bit rubbish yesterday and spent much too long hunched over the computer looking at not very edifying things. Today is better. Have shredded, spot cleaned the stair carpet, written a letter to DD who will be at an outdoor pursuity place with school next week and am now going out to buy some fabric conditioner at Wilkos. When the mice are away the cat does rather boring things, it would seem Blush.

Oh and my feet got soaked for two days running, Ruby (suede boots) so I have been squelching around in trenchfooty manner of WW1 soldier or indeed homeless person frequenting the centre next door to my work.

Blackduck · 18/04/2012 21:22

I did :) at CVs description of MrsS ....
Dp frequently swans off (works) abroad...off to sit in his field in Finland in may and then chile in July. I have done NY (with dp many moons agon). Toothbrush with satnav - am puzzled - tell us more...

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/04/2012 21:28

I think I might hit meltdown tomorrow at work. I have a pile of admin that needs doing asap (mostly medical claims). I have to put an advert out for a new member of my team, a position which needs to be filled asap. And another member has just been headhunted for another job - which is great and he should absolutely take it, but that leaves me with another slot to fill.

The cat piss is getting me down at home. I have piles and piles of clean washing to put away (presuming the cat hasn't pissed on that as well) and the place just looks a bit of a shithole. It took DD1 two hours to rustle up a simple pasta dish tonight, and she was cooking like a man - eg "boil pasta" - so she did, and waited till it had cooked before doing anything else, left it cooling nicely in the colander, before chopping and frying the garlic. Then the chicken. Then chopping nuts and zesting the lemon. Then once that was cooked, she turned that off too, and cooked the broccoli. So we had lots of cold food which needed assembling at the end. I made her heat it up in a big saucepan ("but the recipe doesn't say to do that!") so that we might stand a fightlng chance of getting a meal that was vaguely warm.

God, I sound a right bitch. But I am just so tired of having to cook every bloody night. And DH was moaning because the pate I made last week hadn't been eaten and had gone off...

Blackduck · 18/04/2012 21:39

Hire me... I'll work in the office on Fridays :)
Sorry it's all a bit crap MrsS...

motherinferior · 18/04/2012 21:54

MrsS, that is truly crap.

I will report on the Satnav when I have made the wretched thing work. Or, to be more accurate, when DP has explained to me how it works Blush.

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/04/2012 23:14

Does Mr Inferior need to file tax returns in the US, Mother Inferior? I know how the long arms of the US spread across the globe. (I used to deal with extraterritorial legislation in one dull job, which I kept calling extraterrestrial legislation.) Grin

Aah, DH has his fair share of work jollys to exotic locations. Sometimes I manage to accompany him - we had a fabulous weekend in Barcelona a couple of years ago - but it does usually require some pretty major childcare. MI, can't you farm your little darlings out for a few days next week? Any schoolfriends just dying to invite them for a three-day sleepover??

This squelchy weather is getting me down. DS arrived home from football practice looking like the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and had to strip off in the porch before I would let him set foot in the house. Tomorrow I need to drop my car off at the garage for its MOT, and walk to work, and I am fully expecting to arrive soaked. And my school-run route is heaving with roadworks at the moment; it is taking an hour to drive seven miles, because the rain slows things down even more than usual.

Anyway, my girly night out was fun, but fairly subdued, as we were all driving and we're getting on a bit and can't cope with midweek drinking any more. One of my single-mum friends was "dumped by text" as she pulled into the carpark, so she was a bit tearful. I am soooo glad I don't have any of that dating crap to deal with nowadays.

Blackduck · 19/04/2012 08:43

I have conceded defeat and am unpacking the boxes.

Oh BD, Angry and Sad for you - fingers crossed ruby's right!

I bluddy hate this weather - freezing and wet, grrr.

bigTillyMint · 19/04/2012 19:13

Might be time for a name-change - apparently DS has outed me to at least one friend and his mum Shock

Can't believe they'd be interested in the boring crap I post though Smile

wilbur · 19/04/2012 21:55

MI - I really hope the hot theatre show that MrI will be seeing in NY is GATZ - an 8 hour staged reading of the whole of The Great Gatsby. Tis a sensation, apparently, but still 8 hrs. It's coming to London in June. A shopping list would be very good. make him go to Abercrombie and Fitch on 5th Ave - he will have to queue to get in...

Blackduck - sorry about the unpacking, my fingers are still crossed for you.

CointreauVersial · 19/04/2012 22:53

Noooo BTM, that's awful!

I'm pretty sure DS can't even pronounce my MN name, let alone tell someone else what it is.

Wilbur, remind me, what happened re: your prospective house move?

Blackduck · 20/04/2012 05:55

Oh BTM Blush pretty sure ds neither knows nor cares :) I did have a friend ask what my nickname was and I studiously avoided responding :)
Yes it is :( but I can't live like this, so I either unpack it or it needs to go in storage.whole thing is crap - just need one reasonable offer, just one, not asking for a bidding war!
Yes, wilber what is happening on your house move front?

Blackduck · 20/04/2012 18:17

Grrr another crap offer, do people really think we will take over 25% below the asking price?! (and we are not over priced)......
Dp thinks boxes everywhere means they may think we are desperate......

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/04/2012 19:43

Oh BD, that really does stink. So sorry. Sad Have a glass of Wine this evening.

I spent 400 euros at the vet today, not having the kitten neutered - she apparently has a bladder infection and "anxiety issues". She got very upset when the vet picked her up and sprayed him with diarrhoea. So we are going to go back next week spending the same amount of money, no doubt, getting the job done. She has been chipped now, as has Big Pussy Boy, and he has had his jabs. But oh my god, the cost! ShockShock

My boss is pulling power tricks with me at the moment, and I am feeling stabby. He asked me to dial into a meeting (scheduled to last for an hour and a half in the middle of the day) when I was on leave earlier this week. I said, sorry, I am on leave and have arranged to do something with the DDs. He was really Not Happy about it.

He has also selectively quoted from some of the feedback for my annual report (the person who wrote it bcc'd me in, so I know what was actually said) - so the quote is "Mrs S took a long time to research her recent policy paper on X" Which makes me sound slow and a bit of a slacker, yes? What the quote actually said was "Mrs S took a long time to research her recent policy paper on X, making sure that head office and the regions were consulted fully and that the document was going to deliver what was needed. The paper was excellent, comprehensive and well thought out. It was delivered bang on time, and is being used as a basis for developing our strategy in this area." Which I think is quite different?

I think I am going to have to speak to Uberboss about this...

bigTillyMint · 20/04/2012 19:47

400eurosShock You see! I said pets were overrated. Just think how many nights in the Groucho you could have had for that (OK maybe just the one?Grin)

Maybe he's feeling jealous/insecure?

BD, 25% lowerShock

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/04/2012 20:29

Not even the one night for that, BTM. (Did I tell you I found a couple more receipts from that night the other week when I was clearing out my purse?) Grin Shock It was a bloody good night though. Grin Sadly not to be repeated for a while as Groucho Friend has gone to Rio for six months.

Blackduck · 20/04/2012 22:08

Oh MrsS yes conversation definitely in order... I am getting the measure of new boss here. Copied him in to email, response 'I'm bored of this already'.....humm..interesting times ahead.
Yes 25% after moments of doubt dp and I pulled ourselves together and have said if they go up in either an increment of 5k or 10 k which we suspect they will we will be telling them to stop wasting our time.....(longbow v signal...)

motherinferior · 21/04/2012 10:08

MrsS:

Speaking as someone with long experience of Bosses Who Are Arses (not my current one your current one is an Uberarse. Definitely speak to Uberboss.

herbaceous · 21/04/2012 10:18

Oh lord. This sort of ArseBossery makes me dread going back into the workplace properly. I never did suffer fools gladly - which may be part of the reason for my lack of career progression - but now am a good deal more vocal about it.

I was in my old office yesterday. 90 minutes to get there, and 13 people (plus desks, computers, etc) in a room the size of my sitting room. Remembered why I'd left! Still it's near a totally wizard charity shop, where I bought three dresses for a grand total of £20. Including one that's a SIZE 10! Admittedly a Next size 10, and it's an elasticated waist, but still.

Had the most unpleasant sandwich for lunch. One of those chicken mixes that is 95% mayonnaise. Knew it was a bad idea as I ate it, and it's given me gyppy batty every since.

Er... what else. In throes of booking a hol for the end of May. Dear Little Cottage in either Pembrokeshire or St Ives. Both blasted miles away, but I do like cliffs, bays, etc. And I LOVE St Ives. Is there anywhere similar, but nearer, I wonder? Needs beaches, dear little cafes, and stuff to do if it rains.

motherinferior · 21/04/2012 10:21

We had a divine week here once.
