BB Cream my arse

What is it supposed to do again? (It's the Garnier one btw).

Supposed to smooth wrinkles and illuminate?

I think it is absolutely horrible. Thick and gloopy and looks strangely plasticky when on. Plus is far too dark. I look like I did when I gave tinted moisturiser a go in the mid-90s.

What a waste of time.

Oh that thread title doesn't look too clever.

FWIW I put it on my face, not my bum. Blush

it's like a mixture of highlighing illuminating stuff and tinted moisturiser
i tried it but it def wasn't too dark on me, there must be a few shades available cos I am not dark toned

I wasn't that taken , not enough coverage for me but ok as a base for mineral makeup

sassyTHEFIRST · 18/01/2012 20:15

Might it make your arse look dewy and youthful?

motherinferior · 18/01/2012 20:17

BB cream is meant to do the lot - moisturise, give cover, sunscreen, anything else that might be required. I personally am dubious.

HappyWilly · 18/01/2012 20:21

It has given me back the skin I had in my 20's.

Spotty, lumpy, bumpy and horrible...

AgentProvocateur · 18/01/2012 20:30

I thought I liked it. I thought it made my skin dewy and took years off me, but then I went to the brightly-lit loo in the station on my way to work last week and OMG, I looked like one of these odd-coloured old women that you only see in BHS cafe.

My bathroom is badly lit, and I put it on before I put my lenses in. Back to the drawing board for me now.

RebelWithoutaCause · 18/01/2012 20:31

Seems to be a triumph of marketing over reality. Looking at the adverts and fashion magazine articles you'd think BB was an amazing breakthrough - definitely didn't work for me or DD.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 18/01/2012 20:33

lol at women in the BHS cafe.

It had no positive effects whatsoever. I put it on in the car (so in bright sunlight) and was aghast at what I looked like. It is so thick and gloopy as well, like PVA glue. It reminded me of that Estee Doublewear make up.

I was about to start a thread on this, I tried a free sample of the garnier one today and was surprised how thick it is, I only used 3 dabs and blended furiously but it felt very heavy and greasy and I felt oily all day. The coverage was good but I was conscious of blending so not to have a tide mark. I usually use mineral foundation so think perhaps I used a little too much or that I might need a lighter shade. I have a No7 voucher so might get their version in light and see what that is like. I usually have quite dry skin but after the greasiness of the garnier one I'm wondering if i'll need to buy the one for oily skin.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/01/2012 21:30

I think it's okay as a base under Bare Minerals, although could deffo do with being lighter. The No 7 light one is even darker than the Garnier light one btw.

StellaAndFries · 18/01/2012 21:34

Ahh I think I'm going to have to have a look in boots and take a mirror and an honest friend with me. My mineral foundation is not cutting the mustard at the moment, although my youngest dd is 3.5 the dark patches from the mask of pregnancy are more noticeable atm Hmm

culturevulture · 18/01/2012 21:34

I have the 17 one and it's actually OK, not too thick and he medium is sill quite light.

I was looking for something a bit 'dewy' - no idea if it is really filling wrinkles etc but for 6 pounds I can recommend it.

StellaAndFries · 18/01/2012 21:36

I tried the no17 one on my hand in the shop the other day and preferred the consistency, I was just being tight and wanting to use my voucher even though immsure the 17 one still works out cheaper Blush

AtYourCervix · 18/01/2012 21:37

i rather liked the no17 one. untill my eyes went all red and sore and puffy and itchy.

may try it on my arse.

TracyK · 18/01/2012 21:39

I like it, but only use a small amount and really warm it up on my fingers before putting it on my face.

upahill · 18/01/2012 21:45

I have the dark one and the light one.
Dark on me is best for evenings only.(on me)
The light one is good. You need a little (you can always add more!) and I use a foundation brush. I give it time to settle before I put make up on.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/01/2012 21:48

It totally knackered my skin.

Don't know what I was thinking, I am normally careful with what I put on my skin and this has to basically be chemical soup.

ceebeegeebies · 18/01/2012 21:52

Reading this, I am worried now about what I look like in daylight Shock I used to use the Garnier one and then got the no7 one and thought it looked ok. Not sure that it does everything it says it does and I am prone to a greasy forehead at the best of times and, even using a shine-free primer, I notice that I am greasy again within a couple of hours.

I don't want heavy foundation - just want the infamous 'dewy' look but now I am paranoid that I am going to work with tidemarks and everyone is too polite to tell me Grin

Will check in daylight tomorrow.

Gincognito · 18/01/2012 22:04

I've got a Japanese version and a Korean version and they are both very different from the uk version it seems.

They are very light but with much coverage at the same time, if that makes any sense. They remind me a little of PVA glue Confused but I really like the way my skin looks when I wear them. Blemish-free and dewy.

The Garnier one leaves me looking like an oil-slick after half an hour but the Asian ones... I don't even have to put any pressed powder on!

MWB22 · 18/01/2012 22:05

I'm also worried about how my Garnier BB looks in daylight! It looks OK in the bathroom mirror under a bit of bare minerals foundation powder, but that's last time I look at my face in the mirror hours. And there I was thinking I looked groomed with minimum effort!

I hear Clinique have got a BB cream now. Anyone tried it?

oldqueenie · 18/01/2012 22:18

shocked recognition here! I too bought the garnier one and thought it was really rather good.... until I caught sight of myself in proper lighting..... yuk. binned it. am using bobbi brown tinted moisturiser and it is fab.

AgentProvocateur · 18/01/2012 22:21

The worst of it was that I'd almost finished the tube before I saw myself in proper light - that's months I've had an odd-looking face!

ceebeegeebies · 18/01/2012 22:29

Oh crap, it is always dark when I put my make-up on in the mornings and leave the house so haven't seen myself in daylight for quite some time...surely DH would have commented if it looked really odd??

CointreauVersial · 18/01/2012 23:53

I had a sample of the Granier one - yuck - it was like wearing a grease-mask all day. It didn't look too bad, but I couldn't bear the feeling on my skin.

brighthair · 19/01/2012 01:05

Gincognito which have you got and where from?
the garnier one was far too dark on me
