BB Cream my arse

What is it supposed to do again? (It's the Garnier one btw).

Supposed to smooth wrinkles and illuminate?

I think it is absolutely horrible. Thick and gloopy and looks strangely plasticky when on. Plus is far too dark. I look like I did when I gave tinted moisturiser a go in the mid-90s.

What a waste of time.

I also have a korean one. Its really light and blends very easily with your own skin tone and provides a good coverage which lasts the day, much more coverage than a tinted moisturiser for example. I was worried it would make my skin oily as its quite oily anyway so chose the Skin79 one as its matt.
Have only been using it a few days but very happy so far.

What does BB stand for?!!!

FreeButtonBee · 19/01/2012 09:08

I have it but I don't really love it. It sits looking at me every morning in my bedroom and yet I still guiltily use something else.

It is quite good for covering bumpy red upper arms on a night out.

SimoneD · 19/01/2012 09:20

merlin - it stands for blemish balm or beblesh balm. Think it was originally developed to help laser surgery patients protect their skin & for providing coverage for the post-laser scars. Its basically marketed as primer, moisturiser, tinted mois, smoother etc all in one cream

MABS · 19/01/2012 09:30

didn't like it at all

merlin · 19/01/2012 09:33

Thanks Simone!!!!

BarryShitpeas · 19/01/2012 11:07

Oh!

I have the Garnier one, love it.

I have been putting it on in the dark...

Now paranoid I look like a lump of bacon fat.

QuietOhSoQuiet · 19/01/2012 11:12

reading this I think has decided me,I will not be trying it and will just stick to my boots no7 tinted moisturiser that looks lovely when I first put it on but by the time I have rushed around, walked the dog, exercised I still look like total shit glowing and youthful Wink

Its bluddy AWFUL stuff. Made me look like a greaseball and gave virtually no coverage. I looked far better without it on. Its the Emperors New Clothes I reckon.

StellaAndFries · 19/01/2012 11:26

I just tried the garnier one again only using a little bit and applying it in bright sunlight and finding loads of rogue eyebrow and chin hairs and it looks much better and doesn't feel so greasy. I think as I'm a liquid foundation novice I must have slapped far too much on yesterday Blush

pocketandsweet · 19/01/2012 11:30

This wins my award for scariest thread! I have been wearing it for a month on and off for about a month. hating the way it feels and smells but thinking it looked quite good.... Now wondering if I have been walking around all weird and orange looking. Back to my Nivea tinted moisturiser. Who needs the stress!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 19/01/2012 11:38

Ohh - if it looks good for upper arms it may well act as a good leg foundation for when mine suddenly emerge from opaque tights in the spring.

Still is probably too dark though.

I agree - emperors new clothes. Just because beauty editors have raved about it being a miracle product heavily bunged by garnier doesn't mean it is true.

I haven't tried it but the Beauty Blog I read doesn't rate the UK ones. The swing of publicity started in the Asian markets but as said above, their formulas are superior to the hogwash being marketed to the UK.

I'm very happy with my Lily Lolo minerals at the mo anyhoo.

handbagCrab · 19/01/2012 16:19

I bought some the other day at boots as it was on offer. I'm still undecided. I didnt look great in asda yesterday. Just loved the idea of a 1 min routine as a new mum. The eye roll on thingy that's on offer too seems ok though.

I love Barry Shitpeas barryshitpeas :) Fab username

HipHopOpotomus · 19/01/2012 16:26

Barrys Hit Peas?

herbaceous · 19/01/2012 16:40

I actually KNOW Barry Shitpeas. Bow before me.

As for Garnier BB cream, I too love it, once I'd realised you need hardly any. But now of course I'm worrying I look like I have a plastic mask on.

handbagCrab · 19/01/2012 17:03

It's a bloke off Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe hiphop. He's like a send up of the talking heads you get on clip shows.

Do you get him to do an amusing round up at the end of every occasion you see him? :)

To be on topic, I imagine neither Charlie or Barry use bb cream, but if they did they would be humorously scathing about its benefits, particularly any pseudo-science in the ads.

AlmaMartyr · 19/01/2012 17:06

I've tried the Garnier one and really didn't like it. Didn't go on easily at all and did look really plasticky. Seems like a very odd colour as well, was horribly unflattering.

FGM · 19/01/2012 18:03

Sooo... someone let their toddler loose in their wash bag and got lucky with the resulting goop.

Personally I'd rather moisturise, sunscreen and apply foundation and concealer etc in separate stages depending on variables such as:-
UV levels/ season/ central heating leading to dry skin/ spots and breakouts/ dehydration/ activity/ occasion etc... obviously.

Gincognito · 19/01/2012 19:54

Brighthair, I've got Japanese family so I get it sent over.
