Can someone please find me a magic changing bag that...

...is neither a boring black man bag or covered in girly tweeness and pink crap (I'm looking at you , Pink Lining)? There must be a happy medium.

...is under £70?

...has a shoulder strap?

...can fit baby stuff and change of pants/book/pencils for a 3.5yo?

...is waterproof on the outside? I live in northern England, so lovely absorbent canvas is not an option.

So far I have identified the Skip Hop Duo

and the Ju Ju Be Hip .

Any other recommendations?

Hi, can't do a link but I use a babymel "big slouchy" twisted geometric patterned red bag which I got from jojomaman et bebe for £45 a few months back. Its nice'n'waterproof, makes a change from pacapods and if you spill/leak etc, then its not your nice expensive leather bag you'll want to throw out (that's why I use a changing bag rather than handbag nowadays)!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 16/01/2012 11:50

I bought the skip hop duo and absolutely hated it. Too many pockets but not enough space. I ended up with an Anya Hindmarch.
Have you looked at Pacapod?

notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 16/01/2012 11:56

I have this which is slightly over budget but meets your other requirements.

I'm using it with a toddler (still in nappies) and a baby and it's plenty big enough as has the zip section on the bottom for nappy stuff.

cairnterrier · 16/01/2012 11:57

Just to confuse you, I've got a skip hop duo and I love it! Plenty of room inside - for when DS is at the CM's all day, I pack in a complete change of clothes for a 2 yr old, 5-6 nappies, full pack of wipes, hats and gloves in various combinations, variety of snacks etc. And that's without using the pockets on the outside, which to be honest I tend to forget about Blush. When I'm out and about, also plenty of room for purse, keys and phone. The over the shoulder strap clips on and off really easily and there are also two other straps for strapping to pushchair/shopping trolley.

Mine's a stripy one (?uptown stripe I think) and doesn't look either very girly or dull colours for a boy either.

PuraVida · 16/01/2012 11:58

Just buy a normal bag

I've got a nice mulberry satchel (years old)

For DC1 I had a storksac, style was called Jess. Neither girly nor too boring and I think about £70 from John Lewis

BuntyCollocks · 16/01/2012 11:58

Love my skip hop duo!

Haziedoll · 16/01/2012 12:00

I bought a Boden one in the sale. Very poor quality the zip broke after a couple of days. Although it is quite a funky design from afar it actually looks quite cheap and nasty so I wouldn't recommend it.

GreenEyedMumster · 16/01/2012 12:00

Babymel Amanda I think is the style I have. Brilliant and has Velcro to attach to buggy.

Clarabumps · 16/01/2012 15:14

I have the JujuBe BeAll in perky perenials- its a very girly pattern but they do others different ones. I love it- ive had it for over 3 years now and it holds everything and is comfortable to wear. well worth the money!

KnittingNovice · 16/01/2012 15:29

Another vote for the skip hop duo.
I used mine with 2 in cloth nappies, now have change of clothes for both ds (3.6) and dd (23 months). Snacks, nappies etc all fit in. Love it to bits.

openerofjars · 16/01/2012 20:33

Thank you, all v useful!

I now have drool all down my chin from perving the Orla Kiely website, but DH is giving me the old "I'm not carrying that " look, so I think it might have to be a Skip Hop, dash or duo.

I have an oi oi changing bag, yes it does have a pink lining but it is brown - look on amazon - if you want it pm me and we can come to some arrangement Grin it is nice but am no longer needing it! Was going to ebay it.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 16/01/2012 20:40

A lot of families I know have 2 change bags Grin

theseventhdwarf · 16/01/2012 21:58

Fleurville - lovely changing bags - meet most of those needs - love mine!

Figgyrolls · 16/01/2012 22:01

lin and leo, very nice

NewYearsRevolution · 16/01/2012 22:06

This is a bit over budget but fab. It is waterproof. The outer pocket is good for stuff like bibs you might want to keep away from nappy stuff. It has quite a few internal pockets (plus change mat) and holds a ton of stuff.

In the actual shop, there are more designs. They are dead friendly too so worth a call if you're not keen on the colours.

BikeRunSki · 16/01/2012 22:15

I have a North Face courier bag. Big, strong, waterproof, manly enough for dh and fairly ordinary. Good quality. About £70. I have a three yo (stil needs spare clothes, snacks etc) and a 3 month old.

BranchingOut · 16/01/2012 22:24

I have a Skip Hop Dash and have been pretty happy with it. It is a bit shallower that a Duo, but I have generally been able to get everything I need in it. Love the buggy clips.

My key thing is to always put the same thing in the same pockets, which helps me to do a quick check before i leave the house. Keys in outside left end pocket, bottle of water in the outside right pocket, nappies in the two pockets facing me on the inside, sacks in the elasticated pocket, spare clothes in the outside zipped pocket.

Jcee · 16/01/2012 22:28

I have a skip hop duo which i love - lads of room and pockets. My sister has one like this that is also fab and roomy.

Jcee · 16/01/2012 22:29

Lads? Loads! Damn you iPad

Superene · 16/01/2012 22:29

I bought a really nice but hugely expensive Lin and Leo, but it was far too big for everyday. I ended up using the free Boots one you get when you join the parenting club to get extra points. It is perfect. And free, yay.
