Yes, get DH to do it. Grin

I bought some more of the primeur today. It is cheap and delicious and as it is white, does not contain any alcohol.

Mmm, lamb shanks. Am off to market in the morning as MNers finished all my cheese. Grin

Me too ruby - Envy that MrsS lives too far away for me to drop round with food and drink!

DS is also at a Halloween party, but his is a sleepoverWink

Just back from Anonymous with DD and DH. We enjoyed it even though DD thought that the portrayal of Elizabeth was not as she had expected. I don't think Y8 history teachers/sources go into her sex life that deeply Grin

Why do cats wake up at this hour? They have been snoozing peacefully for most of the day and the kitten is now chasing its tail and the large one is thumping around chasing a knitted courgette (don't ask). They spent last night chasing a marble up and down our very long hall, then had a fight on our bed. The neighbours must love us, but as they are the noisiest family known to man, I am not particularly worried about their lack of sleep.

(Yes, yes, I know, do as you would be done by and all that, but the five year old roller blades down the hall at 2 in the morning, the baby screams all night and they have very noisy parties. They drove out the old lady who lived underneath them as she couldn't stand it any longer.)

Praps we should have a Crepeys' Convention in Paris?

Very unproductive here. Just back from Halloween party where ds pinger self in eye with glow stick... Luckily no lasting damage. No idea if any MNs live locally, but doubt if they would turn up with wine and food.

motherinferior · 30/10/2011 09:28

I had a very pleasant evening drinking red wine and eating posh crisps with a MNer (not on this thread - she is far too young for it, although her attitude on life and general joie de vivre would be welcomed by one and all) who lives round the corner from me, last week. Most jolly.

I like this extra hour. Was feeling grimly exhausted last night but am refreshed today. Just as well, as have to draft MS friend's obit. Bought new winter boots for Inferiorettes yesterday. DD1's feet are now the size of mine and she bought the boots I wanted.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/10/2011 13:21

I woke refreshed as well, despite being woken by a kitten patting my nose insistently. Made tea, and thought that as I was up, I should be productive, so made tons of muesli and granola and vast quantities of chocolate chip cookies (quite a lot of which seemed to vanish when I was at the market). DD1 has cleared out her shoes, so we have a vast pile for the charity bag, and DH has cleared out the hall cupboard. Unfortunately, the contents are now sitting in front of the cupboard in the hall and don't seem in any hurry to make their way back.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/10/2011 13:23

MI - worry not about the boots, they will be handed down to you in a few months when she outgrows them. I have acquired a pair of DMs and some worn twice trainers from DD1's room. Grin

motherinferior · 30/10/2011 13:43

Sadly, I am so tight frugal that the Inferiorettes get one pair of shoes - proper shoes, the sort you get fitted and pay lashings of cash for - at a time and then wear them for months solidly. Otoh, I daresay that won't stop me from wearing her trashed boots once finished with...

bigTillyMint · 30/10/2011 13:54

MI I am impressed that you can limit your DD's - apart from the kickers for school, both of mine have various other pairs of fashion trainers / ballet pumps / boots, etc. Never mind the footy boots for both astroturf and studs.....

And both are still smaller than me.

motherinferior · 30/10/2011 14:04

They get the odd pair of canvas shoes and so on, I will admit.

Do bear in mind that my feet are a two and a half Blush

bigTillyMint · 30/10/2011 14:10

Aaah, that helps!

Am pursuing my ongoing obsession with buying a fair isle sweater. Appear to have new results by googling 'shetland' rather than fair isle...

bigTillyMint · 30/10/2011 15:48

I am the tallest in this house, but I haven't got the biggest feetGrin

herbaceous · 30/10/2011 16:44

What the hell is going on with time today? The clocks only went back one hour, but this day has been going on since last Tuesday. I want to go to bed!

And Mrs S - our cats must be cut from the same cloth. Most nights I'm woken up by mine yowling loudly, then getting on the bed, lying on my chest and patting my face. A few times a night. If I shut the door, he just scrabbles at the door and jiggles the door handle for hours until I relent. Then he thinks he's won.

If we lock him in the kitchen - the only other option - he practically wears his paws down to stumps scratching at the door.

Then he sleeps all day.
Tricky blighter.

Stropperella · 30/10/2011 21:06

We returned today from the land of beer and giant pretzels and managed to get ds to a Halloween party this afternoon only 10 mins late. Everyone has now sunk into a post-holiday gloom. dd says that her school is horrible; the town where we live is miserable and boring and the weather in England is rubbish. I am trying quite hard not to agree with her. ds has just spent 30 mins crying (v. unlike him) because he hates sleeping by himself in his own room. And a strong smell of damp is emanating from our not-yet-a-year-old bathroom. Bah.
Did have a wonderful week, though, and I had a fantastic time with an old friend that I haven't seen for 20+ years. But I really want to move back there now. Wahhhhhhhhhh!

CointreauVersial · 30/10/2011 22:25

Welcome back, Strops.

Herbs - I so agree - today has gone on for ever! Possibly because I haven't actually left the house or done anything remotely exciting.

I did try to sort out a few bits and bobs in the loft but was chased out by a load of wasps that suddenly appeared (we have a nest in the eaves and I've a horrible feeling they have recently acquired a back door into the loft, and next year's queens are busy digging in for the winter).

Ah well, back on the treadmill tomorrow. Shoes polished, schoolbags packed, homework up-to-date, Downton Abbey watched....sigh.

Blackduck · 31/10/2011 06:40

House selling/buying dilemma continues.
House A- well, more the location than the house, BUT to afford have to sell ours at a particular level, not easy in current climate and will stretch us to the max, also not necessary a good idea in current climate.
House B - not far from house A but a world of difference, not least the price. So coul potentially market ours at knock down price and still end up with pretty much same mortgage as we started with........

DukesOfTripHazard · 31/10/2011 12:36

CV staggered and slightly impressed by your capacity for alcohol.

I was home alone Thursday to Sunday. It was absolute bliss.

Mum probably out of hospital today. So much better. Thanks for asking after her.
