Oooh, Dukes [v impressed vibe]

I have to go to the main chemist's office in Nottingham tomorrow. And DD1 has been puking. DP is fairly sure he can work from home...

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/11/2011 21:21

Yes, fingers crossed, Dukes!

I spent today at Disneyland Grin with DH, who hates the place. No queues and did the best rollercoasters plus a couple of other rides to calm DH down after the nasty whirly droppy things.

bigTillyMint · 30/11/2011 21:30

MrsS, you never fail to surpriseGrin

motherinferior · 30/11/2011 21:31

She is a Hinternational Woman of Mystery, innit.

CointreauVersial · 30/11/2011 21:39

No shitty-arsed cats and dogs in this house, thank you very much.

Or rabbits. When I returned from the MN meet-up on Saturday I realised that no-one had bothered to take Destiny out of his run on the lawn and put him back in his hutch. Off I went into the garden in dressing gown and wellies, only to find a small hole at the corner of the run....and no rabbit to be found anywhere. Sad

In my heart he is now wild and free, having joined a merry band of wild rabbits. I keep hoping to spot him hopping across the lawn, but my head knows he was most likely a tasty evening meal for one of the many foxes we have round here. I'm quite sad, because he was a real softy, and probably tried to make friends with the foxes, but DD1 has bounced back remarkably quickly; after a few tears (of guilt, mostly) she hasn't really mentioned it since.

Anyway, I had a nice day off today. DS went scootering with mates, DD2 went to a friend's house so DD1 and I went shopping, which was fun (she is the one child that enjoys it). Pretty much got all the Christmas stuff sorted - just needs wrapping/posting now.....

Fingers crossed, Dukes, and chin up Wilbur!

bigTillyMint · 30/11/2011 21:44

CV. I am impressed that you went out to look for Destiny after the Meet-up. But then, they had watered the gin downGrin

DD went shopping with her mates and has spent all her money on a new football for DS for Christmas, and something for me. She decided not to get me a soap from L'Occitane as I'm not keen on soap, even though both her friends were buying them for their mums However, I am now wondering what she did buy me!

CointreauVersial · 30/11/2011 21:57

I did, BTM, with my trusty torch. Spent a good 20 minutes rummaging in the shrubbery. Poor bun-bun.

But then. it wasn't cold. And I was unexpectedly sober. Angry

Mmmm....love L'Occitane. Wish my DCs bought me that for Christmas.

bigTillyMint · 30/11/2011 22:01

Even soap, CV - makes me feel even more crepey!

ANd re; Saturday night, DS came in after me. He is 10 and had been to his BF's Grandms's birthday party at....... an Old People's Home. The shameBlush

Stropperella · 01/12/2011 09:37

Grin at your ds living it up at a b-day bash at the Old People's Home, Tilly.

And Sad for CV's rabbit.

Those cat stories make me look at my dog more favourably. He has a very well-behaved bottom. For a dog. But I did have to steam clean the rug in the sitting-room after his last bout of stress-puking...

Glad to hear that all is going well with ds's eye, herbs.

Looking forward to seeing your play, Dukes!

Have visitor this w/e, which may prove stressful, for various reasons. And dd is prostrate and clutching her head. She says it is "not a normal headache. It feels like a pressure inside".??? And is feeling dizzy and sick. No temperature. No other symptoms, as far as I can tell. Is right in the middle of loads of important assessment tests at school. Hmm. Could it be migraine? She was like this all night.

bigTillyMint · 01/12/2011 13:00

I don't know much about migraines, but it might be worth getting it checked out?

The party was being held at the Old Peoples Home because auntie who is 103 lives there. Apparently she does zumba classes - there is hope for us allGrin

wilbur · 01/12/2011 14:00

Oh, I so want to be doing Zumba at 103! How wonderful, that's now my new life goal. And I also spent my Slapper Years in Brixton, just off the top of the hill before you get to Streatham so not far from Mrs S in Leigham Court Rd (which btw remains well-dodgy in parts - when we were burgled my credit card was immediately used at the Leigham Court Hotel). Actually, I would like to say I was not really a slapper, I was just a young girl in love.... a lot.

Feeling a bit more positive about possible house move having done lots of research and also having been taken over by some kind of que sera sera virus that has rendered me remarkably calm about the whole thing. If it happens, it happens, but I am not going to stress about it. I have better things to stress about.

Glad to hear the meet up was fun - hopefully we can all get together in January for more MN fun.

Herbs - great that ds is getting used to his eye and so glad it's such a successful solution.

And Dukes - everything firmly crossed for your play commission, would love to hear more about it when it's in the bag.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/12/2011 23:38

I have been out drinking. I think one has to do justice to the Beaujolais Nouveau while it is still nouveau. Grin

motherinferior · 02/12/2011 08:50

Strops, there is a Bug Going Around (as ever) - DD1 has been headachy and copiously sick. (To the point where the poor little love wet and shat herself Blush.) Had to juggle everything around yesterday to visit Mothership (wow! HUGE!) and am working from home today.

Another agent has turned down my book idea, although he was nice enough to say I write very well Sad. Which is I supposed some consolation. Although not much. To be honest. Admittedly if he'd said I write bloody awfully, I would feel even worse.

bigTillyMint · 02/12/2011 09:23

MI, shame about the agent and the v&d - things can only get betterSmile

motherinferior · 02/12/2011 09:27

Actually I am working from home today and have to fit in an extra feature (for RNIB) but as it involves talking to the Experts In The Field it will effectively write itself AND be very interesting. All about the horrid things you can get if you shower/swim/generally misuse your contact lenses. Things can GROW in your eye, you know Shock. Spikey amoebae. It happened to a friend of mine. Fascinating (well, potentially blinding, of course, but still fascinating Blush.)

motherinferior · 02/12/2011 09:30

Also o S&B friends I have to go to a party full of Younger People tomorrow. Admittedly it is chez my BIL whom personally I think is very staid (he finds wearing colourful socks a bit daring) but he has always clearly considered me as old as the hills (he is now in his mid-30s) and we are dropping in - avec gurls - early and I have nothing to wear....

I have heard from my friend with the little girl who has cancer. She is almost certainly incurable.

herbaceous · 02/12/2011 12:11

Oh god, MI. How indescribably awful. How does one cope with something like that.

On another, more selfish note, those spiky amoeba things, could they grow under DS's eye shell? Ewwww.

Re party wear, how about something that looks like you're going on somewhere more exciting. Like my sequin dress from DP, plus wellies.

motherinferior · 02/12/2011 12:19

Herbs, re eye: the risk is miniscule: and it's almost entirely caused by poor hygiene and you'll have been told everything you need to know about keeping everything clean. It's over his actual eye, isn't it? Really do not worry!

herbaceous · 02/12/2011 12:31

Thanks MI. It's over the whole of his blind eye. So at least it can't actually go blinder!

So I have something to look forward to, beyond the ordeal of xmas, did we say 20th Jan for CrepeMeat no 2?

bigTillyMint · 02/12/2011 13:04

Oh, MISadSadSad

Yes, Herbs, your sequin dress would be perfect! Will you be wearing it to the meet-up -it sounded like lots of us could do 20th Jan, let's get it in the diary (on the calendar in my case!)Smile

Blackduck · 02/12/2011 17:33

MI Sad

motherinferior · 02/12/2011 17:49

I spoke to my friend F. She is amazing. Really tough. As you have to be, I suppose. There is one trial, which is quite quite horrible (nuking the system with chemo and then freezing bone marrow and then putting in stem cells) which might work. It's a five per cent chance.

I know other people on MN have gone through this Sad
