Oh go on Stropps - you know you want to! We could always do 21st if that is better for people....

Second, marginally less, crappy offer on house, but this is as far as they can go (I actaully believe them on this) so dp and I need to do some serious thinking......

Rby, whats the thinking we need to do. Its not a total no-no, but we need to work out the finacnes. And we are buying in the next stampduty band so will be stung by that (but on the other hand have saved a fortune in EA fees...)

Ahh one we wanted to buy have accepted another offer ....

bigTillyMint · 16/11/2011 13:34

Oh no, BDSad

Blackduck · 16/11/2011 13:38

Yes, we are gutted, so bloody close and yet so far!

Stropperella · 16/11/2011 16:57

How frustrating, BD. Sad

wilbur · 16/11/2011 18:53

So sorry to hear that BD - very frustrating. It's worth saying to the estate agent that if anything happens with the sale and it falls through, they should call you first. That's what happened with the house we are buying - it had an offer on it which fell through due to an issue with the drains (fixable but ££).

I tried the frocks on - the blue was much the nicest although, and you will larf at this, I believed the lovely flattering sales assistant who said I should try a smaller size than I had chosen (probably due to my perennial problem of not having enough boob to really fill a tailored dress). And I got stuck in it. There was a bit of hysterical thrashing and some prayers offered and then I managed to unzip it a little further so it would go over my shoulders. I also tried this which was also surprisingly nice, despite the slightly blah colour. I couldn't work out what you would wear it with though - colour of tights? A cardi or jacket? Shrug? And then earrings? You see, this is where I fall down on the style stakes - I have some nice clothes but regularly fail to convert them to outfits.

bigTillyMint · 16/11/2011 18:57

Scroll down - they've got the styling suggestions there for youGrin I think it's a lovely dress, but other than nude/mink/black or maybe metallic shoes/bag, I'm not sure what I would put with it. It';s not really a cardi-type dress, more a faux-fur short jacket or wrap?

wilbur · 16/11/2011 19:11

Holy cow - look at the price of the fake fur coat they recommend! Yes, maybe a shrug - I need something to wear with it all night as I will get cold [feeble emoticon] otherwise. I do have some cream and gold crystal jewellery, so that would probably be good.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/11/2011 06:53

Fake fur coat? How many teddies were killed in its production? Eh? Eh? Grin

Blackduck · 17/11/2011 07:58

EA have said they will keep us posted but I am not optimistic. Spent last night reviewing our options including House A which with current offer is an even bigger jump than we originally hoped. How much do you think I'd get for one small grubby, but intelligent, boy and one large grubby, dumb dog? Trouble is there is nothing else we like/can afford in the area. Did consider a 'stop gap' move but I think moving twice in a short space of time might kill me...

wilber :) at getting stuck in dress - happened to me with a swimming cossie this summer, I was mortified and redfaced. Kept thinking, don't panic, dont panic... :)

CointreauVersial · 17/11/2011 13:03

Wilbur - not so keen on the cappuchino dress, but maybe it's "better on". Maybe it's because I adore that blue one.

I remember getting hideously hideously stuck in a dress once - it was one of those sheer party numbers with a strappy inner layer sewn onto the inside. I somehow ended up with one of the straps/layers in the wrong place, with the result that I was totally immobilised. After a few minutes struggling and sweating, to the sound of straining seams, I had to admit defeat and ask for help. Of course, there wasn't room in the titchy cubicle, so I ended up in the communal area with a 50-something lady doing "skin-a-rabbit" while I tried desperately to hang onto my dignity underwear.

a good friend once had to be CUT OUT OF a roland mouret dress in a very swank shop. can you imagine Blush Shock Blush ???? She says just the memory brings her out in a cold sweat..
can v new contributors come to a meet up or am i being rather forward to ask?

bigTillyMint · 17/11/2011 18:53

Of course you can - it would be lovely to meet youSmile

Is it to be Fri 20th Jan then? And where?

CointreauVersial · 17/11/2011 19:08

Yes, oldqueenie, the more the merrier.

Ruby - I'm shocked to hear about your toilet-hugging antics. I would never get so out of control in public well, not since that episode a couple of years ago when I had to be fireman's lifted out of a club toilet by my friend's 18yo stepson.

herbaceous · 17/11/2011 19:33

Hi ladies. 20 of Jan would be fine by me for meeting up. My diary in January is as yet a barren, lonely place, with tumbleweeds floating by. Unlike December, which is getting kinda crazy. Not with that endless round of parties one is supposed to be attending, according to the mags, but carol concerts, visiting rellies, organising the play centre's xmas party, etc...

For, indeed, I am now chair of the play centre's committee. I'm already getting annoyed by the admin involved, and people's lax attitude towards correct subject headings in emails. I think maybe I should chill.

I once got stuck in a dress - one of those lace-up fishtail ones so popular when we were young. Then once I was out of that, I fell into a clothes hamper. I was a bit pissed.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/11/2011 19:47

I am shocked at all these tales of drunkenness. Not something I would ever do. Oh no. Grin

Stropperella · 17/11/2011 21:49

I could relate many tales of drunkenness, but none of getting stuck in any clothing. I can, however, think of a few times when I was pissed when it would probably have been a good idea if I had got stuck in my clothes... Grin
