Just popping in to say ny I have won your (well I don't think it's your actual one but you know what I mean!) H&M leopard maxi dress on eBay. It arrived this morning and it's gorgeous. Didn't buy it last year and have regretted it ever since so am very pleased to have one now.

Promise not to wear it to any subsequent meet-ups though!

notyummy · 14/09/2011 11:28

Ooh, good news Fleecy - it is so easy to wear and swishy and glam, no? I haven't worn it for a while actually, but overall got lots of use.

blossoming · 14/09/2011 11:28

Ladies I must lose weight!! I look ginormous on screen (sobs)!

bloss How you look on screen is not how you look in RL!

Had my arms waxed this morning and can't stop stroking my forearms Grin

bloss I cannot believe it, not for a second. You always look very slim, elegant and stylish! Am sure you don't need to lose weight.

annie it's very nice but you could probably get similar in Warehouse or Oasis for less (semi-enabling there Smile)

ny I just tried it on and it fits over the bump so I might start wearing it before the baby arrives rather than waiting. 'Tis fabulous. What shoes/boots do you wear with it and do you think it would be OTT with a tan felt large fedora/smallish floppy hat?

Fleecy - I wear it with either black flat knee length/biker style boots and chunky tights if dressing down, or black high wedge boots if dressing up. Have also worn with bare legs (but with a slip!) and sandal wedges/wooden heels.

You look great in hats so I would say 'yes' to that!

Thank you everyone, but it really is horrific. How thin must eg Giuliana Rancic be in RL if she looks that thin on tv?

Have a safe journey deepleaf.

"There was some really interesting research I saw which showed that humans only have a limited amount of willpower. They were using this to explain how e.g. if you are on a tight budget, it's more difficult to diet as well. Basically your willpower is all used up on the budgeting, and there is none left for resisting cake! It's an interesting theory I think. I know my willpower feels stronger when I'm generally 'up'."

I think this is very plausible; I also think that food (especially sweet foods) are a relatively cheap indulgence/pleasure. I can resist food quite easily, but then I am under no illusions - I can afford (many) other pleasures. If I had very little money for life's pleasures, might I not want to indulge in cake more often?

Hi ladies, sorry to post and run with the school run coat dilemma - work is becoming a bit all-consuming and feel like I'm run off my feet, but in a very good way! I've decided that I would like a yellow parka/raincoat; a lovely lady de-lurked and linked to a Burberry one some time ago (sorry, can't remember the name!) which is what I'd like, but with a much smaller price-tag as I still plan to buy this Reiss coat come pay day. Anyone seen one that fits the bill?

Bloss - are you watching yourself on a screen in screen thingy? Turn it off if so; it's bloody disconcerting watching yourself. Am sure you look nothing but lovely.

Glad you had a good day at work Icey; hope you and DD have recovered eyes today. It would be a wonderful coincidence if you, Ants and I ended up with tickets for the same show. I'm holding out hope; have missed out in previous years.

Fritzi you inspired me to don my red jeans today, although they are looking a little faded. I may have to go for a second pair. I think the EA outfit choice for Friday sounds ideal.

Emo your outfit today sounds gorgeous. What is the leopard scarf like? I contemplated buying the purple one, but didn't quite commit.

DLE I think there's definitely something in that research. I can certainly relate. Although thank goodness I don't have a similar interpretation to Bonsoir - I'd be one giant cake by now.

Very moving words Carciofi, thank you for sharing.

Have had a lovely morning here, a random mum I met on the street invited me along to a coffee morning that a mother of pre-schoolers runs locally. Walked in to a roomful of lovely, like-minded women and have been invited back. A neighbour is taking us along to an invite-only playgroup tomorrow (Ladies, I've made it). I know I've said it before but I think we'll be really happy here.

FritziGreenEyes · 14/09/2011 14:07

red I am sure this doesn't even come close to the Burberry yellow parka and I think it looks a bit shapeless on the model. But might be worth a try? So nice to hear that you have found some people that make you feel at home. Most important thing when moving!

MarshaBrady · 14/09/2011 14:23

Anniemac I love the Vince jumper especially with belt and pencil skirt. Adore it. hmmmm

Emo, it's not me that's in to boats, sorry. Ollie's DH maybe?

Icey, I think Marsha's right with the mother's love, in fact I'd go a stage further and add a 'pregnant' mother's love. It'll be a great story to tell her when she's older Smile. Good thinking to use milk, exactly the right thing!

Fritzi, outfit for Friday sounds good. Wearing my black Agnes with black clog boots and white shirt today, v. comfy.

Red, so glad it's all going in the right direction for you in your new home. Wedding sounds like such fun Grin.

Annie, you must be using all your willpower up elsewhere Grin. I love the Vince jumper too, it's a bit like my TS berry one (in my dreams).

Bonsoir · 14/09/2011 18:28

I've got a really glam ladies dinner on Friday night. Think I need to book manicure, eyelashes and blow dry .

What do you all think about getting my Etro gold brocade dress out? Is that too much for a ladies dinner? It was originally bought for DSS2's Bar Mitzvah last year and I wore it with vertiginous heels. Maybe I could make it a little less formal by wearing my (new) flat black suede knee high boots? The dress is quite short, so there would still be a bit of thigh on show.

wideawakenurse · 14/09/2011 19:26

Hello All.

Big wave to everyone Smile. Been really busy trying to keep the house in tip top condition as we have had a few viewings this week. So, haven't really caught up on the thread that well. But a hello to Fleecy, I can't believe you are nearly there now. Here's hoping your last few weeks are as comfortable as they can be.

For those of you how remember my hair dilemma, I have finally got round to booking appointment...and have been looking at pictures for inspiration. I really love Helena Christensen's cut here. Sadly, I look nothing like her though. Grin

Thanks for the links to wedges, by the way. Today I found a hole in my Office Ballet flats, really annoyed as they were £50 and only bought them a few months ago. I like the R&B ones, but they look fairly slim fitting for my hooves.
