Hi everyone. Come and join in with your lovely links to autumn/winter clothes!

Aaaw! Young love Fritzi! Glad you have good memories.
Love that blue Reiss top Roary. Amazing colour. Good for Australia on their policy. Sometimes the nanny state works well.
NY, a work colleague ordered 4 or 5 pairs as they are so comfortable and as she has size 3 feet, finds it difficult to get them.

Ambernj1 · 29/09/2011 13:10

Argh icey don't clean the oven, have you smelt those oven cleaners? pretty sure they'd do a foetus no good! Tell DH to get on with it, I did and our oven went uncleaned for 9 months

Am on brink of giving up on playgroups - DS seems to have put together a sort of showcase of brattishness for such occasions, carefully crafted to undermine my parenting skills. Magic moments, eh?

red what you say makes sense but I want it now must resist biscuits!

roary I love that kingfisher colour Reiss do!

carciofi · 29/09/2011 13:55

Hi all.

I definitely will not make the meet up, barely see DH and he has already told me he will be working every weekend for the next few weeks. I am feeling pretty tired again as he is gone 8am-11pm and Saturdays too. I might as well move back to Dublin. :(

My sil decided against immunising her son, don't really understand it, tbh.

Amber, you do sell the Davina well!

Blossoming, your DH is a gem but you deserve the lovely pressies.

Fritzi, a Louth man!

My NF parka arrived, just tried it on (and nearly expired with the heat!) and it is too big on the shoulders. I think I will return it and get the Barbour instead.

I went out this morning with the baby and bought the Ants blouse (did you see that there is a scarf to match?) and a drapey navy top from Comptoir des Cotonniers that someone linked to on here before. They have lovely bags, in fact lovely everything in there!

I also bought a pink leopard print top from LK Bennett that is going straight back, it doesn't work with jeans at all. I ordered these Hudsons but starting to think that I should try the Gap jeans and not spend such a ridiculous amount on jeans, well duh, I hear you say!

wideawakenurse · 29/09/2011 14:21

carciofi I am really gutted you won't be there. You are having a really hard time with DH's hours at the moment. Could you have a trip home and see your lovely aunt for a bit? We will organise a mini MU at westfield soon.
As for the jeans - I think that unless you have found a make on the high street that are 100%, then I'd stick with fewer, premium ones. Gap also are a bugger for bagging IMHO.

Bloss, yah for generous DH, you deserve it though. Pinstripe looks lovely.

Amber I love the Davina too, it's an amazing dress. I tried it on just after finding out I was pg. Couldn't justify at the time, but would have bought it otherwise. Classic buy.

Nice whistles stuff red. I really like a navy and white scarf in there at the moment.

icey Sorry to hear about the bad toddler group experience today. We had a similar situation this am too, all over a little tikes ride on car. Oh the tears!
Thanks for the offer of looking out for the Leigh's, but I am going to order on line next week. Let me know how the Seraphine haul turns out.

Nice boots Ants, would they work for you Ollie?

Yes the vaccination situation does cause some angst. Icey I had the swine flu vaccine at 35 weeks with DS, when it was at the peak and there were loads of awful stories about pregnant women getting it etc. We are offered and encouraged to go for the normal flu jab at work. I have vaccinated DS with all the usual, some need to be given in hospital due to his allergies. We see a fair bit of measles at work, children often in ITU with respiratory complications. Awful. However, most of these unvaccinated children are not from parents whom refuse to for whatever reason but from countries with poor/little vaccination provision.

IceCreamCastles · 29/09/2011 14:25

Ok, if you say so Amber. Not much discouragement needed Grin was thinking of trying bicarb and vinegar or something to avoid the chemicals but dh can do it when he gets in as his goodbye to the house.

Will get some oven pride for new house red as determined to keep it nice there.

Oh dear- 3 paragraphs on oven cleaning in one day- have reached a new low.

Seraphine order arrived. All dresses too big. Jeans are very good though- more pricey than I'd like but I guess their resale value is good?

Boiling here now. Hotter than it was all summer I think!

Gosh carciofi- you must be shattered- poor you and dh. Really sorry you can't make meet up.

Poppping in quickly to say have seen Davina quite a lot this week. What did we think of Ed Milliband's wife in it? Also the woman who does the politics on Wales news had it on, she is very skinny. I'm going out on an limb and saying it looks better on the more curvy (that's a good thing in my book!)

Really sorry things are hard for you carciofi. We must meet up next time I'm down.

My cleaner uses the Cif oven cleaner. Did I mention she's coming back? I hate the smell of it though.

And on immunisation, can only be parents who have never had a sick child and never had to spend a long time in hospital in ICU, unable to spend time with their child who would not try to protect that child as much as possible. I know it's an unpopular subject, but really. I'm with rufus.

Thanks, Annie, I shouldn't complain, when I know how hard it must be for you. DH is a quantitative developer in an investment bank. He is managing this project which is why the hours are worse than normal. He is taking a week off in Oct and another in Dec. I feel sorry for him, he must be exhausted.

Unfortunately super aunt is in the middle east until Dec.

Would love to meet up, WAN and Bloss when things calm down.

Icey, meant to say, definitely don't clean the oven! My Seraphine jeans sold pretty well and I wore them a lot, even into hospital. I have a couple of maternity camisole tops if you or WAN would like them? One Isabella Oliver black one and one or two Gap white ones, same as this, I think.

WAN, I'll stick to high end so!

I think I am going to order the Aigle now. Barbour is too short.

Rufus, DD1 shouts "I am not going to leaba", she is picking up some Irish, the little we speak. DH was sent to the Gaeltacht every summer so he is pretty good, mine now consists of random phrases from Peig's tale of woe. :)

carciofi · 29/09/2011 15:32

P.S. the maternity tops are a size 12, I think.

FritziGreenEyes · 29/09/2011 15:48

carciofi That must be hard for you and DH and sorry we won't see you at MU. I'll be in London with DD and DH for the whole week. If you fancy a mini meet-up with the DDs at Westfield or someplace else, just PM me. I'm sure my DH will be grateful for some quiet time with his blackberry in the hotel. (Same industry as your DH. Do I need to say more...)

My contribution to oven cleaners: Get a self-cleaning oven, it's great!

Fritzi, that would be lovely.
Annie, can I come live at your house?!
I ordered the midnight Aigle, it is not available until 24th October due to high demand. Hope I do actually get it now as going to return the NF.

carciofi · 29/09/2011 16:09

I thought Justine Thornton looked really well in the Davina dress. I want one!

pickledsiblings · 29/09/2011 16:19

Carciofi, could you invite a friend over for a few days to keep you company?

Fritzi, I have very fond memories of my Dundalk man - he was sooo lovely.

Icey, step away from the oven Grin. I still have no idea what to wear to the MU, I may buy a new dress. Looking forward to seeing you in all your pregnancy loveliness...no champagne for you this time!

blossoming · 29/09/2011 16:54

It is a fear that I have too carciofi. Shame about the NF after you waited so long for it.

You will look lovely pickled, but any excuse for a new frock!

Fritzi self cleaning ovens???? Genius invention!
Icey I know its a lot of money but my sister gets someone in once a year to clean her oven and its always spotless. Worth a try if you or DH can't face it? Mind you, I think people moving into a house kinda expect to have to do some cleaning so maybe just get DH to give it a quickish once over?

Carciofi and DeepLeaf such a shame about the meet up. Hope we can keep you both entertained via updates on the day tho eg:

  • Post from Bloss - that Ollie has just eaten her fourth cupcake!
  • Post from Fritzi - Where's my scone gone? Ollie was here a minute ago...
  • Post from Ollie - My dress has just split along the side seam. Why?

Agree with all of you re jabs btw. Madness not too.

Isn't this weather amazing? We had part of our Dutch lesson in an amazing community garden near the teachers house - gorgeous seating areas, chinese water garden for kids, huge herb garden for anyone to pick herbs from, lots of apple and pear trees - all made possible via local residents gaining funding and volunteering. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy - and then I got a headache from sitting in the sun and trying to learn imperfect Dutch verbs.

OllieinOrange · 29/09/2011 17:05

Carciofi just seen your post about the Aigle - Bloss and I have ordered the same one. I feel a Aigle Flash Mob coming on for the next meet up!

Ambernj1 · 29/09/2011 17:17

Same boat here carciofi DH working til very late every night and weekends. Yesterday I was pleased as he got home 'early' at 10pm! Combined with toddler and v young baby it can feel a bit of a slog! Like you I compensate by spending! Love that Whistles blouse btw. I will definitely attend a WF mini-MU.

Seriously ladies, Davina is A-MAZING! Agree with bloss that it probably does more for the curvy.

wan also got the jab when pg with DS, only one of my NCT group to do so, they were a bit Hmm

icey glad I convinced you!

PORTIA4 · 29/09/2011 17:56

Carciofi Sorry that you won't be able to attend MU , I've managed to work my magic with DH and have got a kitchen pass for the 8th, with the provisio that I do come home that night!
My FIL was the director of Community medicine in these parts and used to tell very sad stories about children that hadn't been vaccinated, so I'm all for them as well.
DD2 comes home from France tomorrow for the weekend, we are all so looking forward to seeing her.
There are great leather trousers in HOF at the mo, Gestuz is the brand name, they are very reasonably priced and nice on, can't link on iPhone - sorry!

blossoming · 29/09/2011 18:15

portia's leather trousers
Good to hear you're making the MU portia. You must be so excited to have your dd home.

Imperfect verbs ollie, I would be in my element! [geek emoticon]

My dd is driving me round the bend, as is ds. I blame the weather. Hate it. Unnatural.

OP posts:
redllamayellowllama · 29/09/2011 18:45

I am sad I won't get to meet you Carciofi - I take my hat off to you (and you Amber and you Annie) as it must be a bloody slog at times.

Great that you can make it Portia, trousers look to be a v good price. Hope you enjoy your weekend with DD.

Sounds like an amazing place to spend an afternoon Ollie, how glorious.

petitdonkey · 29/09/2011 19:32

Hi Ladies, remember me??

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted in so long. RL has been manic (some good, some bad) which I won't bore you with. I tried to catch up a few times but felt that I was bound to miss someone out and never had time to do a mammoth enough post so just left it. So, if no-one minds I will just wade in here and start as if a newbie!!

A fair bit of S&B news but the main event (which prompted me to post) is that I had my colours done - DunDunDuuuun!!! Actually, huge anti-climax as I am a Dark Summer which is a bit shite. The Winter colours were just a bit too strong for me and everything in my palette is just a bit boring. Was green with envy as my good friend was such an obvious 'Paintbox Spring' - her pop colours were just gorgeous. Is there even a thread for Summers???

Anyway, I hope you don't mind me popping back in and will forgive the selfish nature of my posting - I really will try to catch up - have any babies been born??? Its amazing how many times in the last month I've mentally worded a post but just haven't been able to get to a computer. I missed you girls x

Ambernj1 · 29/09/2011 19:32

To be fair red, and I don't know if carciofi and annie agree with me, while doing everything for the kids can be draining it's the adult company I miss most. I'm really lucky in that my family all live close by so I see a lot of them, but I am the only one in my circle of friends with kids and all my NCT buddies are back at work now so some days I only speak to the nippers!

Have had a lovely day today though - my parents and I took my two and my nephew (who is close in age to DS) to Richmond Park where the toddlers ran riot chased by my folks, while I lazed on a blanket with DD. God bless my DPs, they give me so much support!

portia nice trousers though I think a herd of cows would need to be sacrificed for my thighs, alas. I did have a pleather pair in my slim pre-dc days

Ambernj1 · 29/09/2011 19:36

petit! we missed you!

So S&B news...?
