Hi everyone. Come and join in with your lovely links to autumn/winter clothes!

Hi petit, have been wondering where you were! Just post when you can! No need for a big catch up. I did my colours with a 'summer'. You can wear that airforce blue, and french navy can't you? Love those colours. Had a Marc Jacobs shirt back in the day in airforce blue, but it never looked quite right on me!

amber, I know exactly what you mean about needing adult conversation. I am 7 years into this now and I physically cannot stomach In the night garden or Peppa pig ANY MORE!!

Things aren't so different then Amber, same bugbear for me. Sounds like a lovely day out with parents.

Lovely to 'see' you Petit, I was thinking of you only recently and wondering where you had got to. Have you tried anything in your new palette to see if it works?

carciofi · 29/09/2011 19:59

Amber, yes I agree, the DDs are lovely but being at home can get a bit tedious. I never intended to be a sahm, but a couple more years and then I can go back to work (if I am still employable by that point!) I do know quite a few sahms and have met a lot of people since DD1 started school but what I find hard is that I have no one I can rely on for a bit of extra help sometimes. Just got to suck it up really! I may get Sitters for an occasional afternoon.

Ollie, sounds like a lovely afternoon and I would love a blow by blow account!

Petit, I was wondering how you were. The next baby due is Fleecy's!

Pickled, all my friends from home have DC so they are busy themselves. I'll see them in a few weeks and we are planning a night out. :)

Bloss, my usually sunny baby was in terrible form this afternoon, due to the heat. Don't think I will need a parka for a while so I am happy to wait for the Aigle. I also remembered that I bought something like this but knee length so that will do until it is really cold.

AntPants1 · 29/09/2011 20:13

Hello all

So pleased I did not offend with my rant about vacinations. We really do cover everything on this thread!

Ash boots have arrived. They are lovely. Am keeping!

pickledsiblings · 29/09/2011 20:30

Hello again petit, don't worry too much about the whole 'colours' thing. You've looked fab in bright colours up 'til now and I'm sure that's not going to change. The only time when it might be an issue is if you are in a room with loads of other gals who have had their colours done and are wearing their 'pop' colours but even then you'd have the fabbest hair so it wouldn't matter if you weren't popping Grin.

Carciofi, good to hear you have a girls night out planned.

Bloss, are you counting down the days to half term yet?

Well, I spilled a glass of water over my wireless keyboard and it is behaving v.v. badly indeed now, DH is away and going out to dinner with a female work colleague and I haven't decided what to dress the DSs as for Roald Dahl Day - any ideas?

redllamayellowllama · 29/09/2011 20:35

Surely a Mr Twit Pickled, would be an easy one. Perhaps a Willy Wonka with any velvet scarves/odd hats/anything remotely eccentric?

I too am in a grump. Must be the weather.

ApuskiDusky · 29/09/2011 20:38

Finally have a bit of time to myself, so I'm settling in for a catch-up!

Spotted your return petit, hello!

pickledsiblings · 29/09/2011 20:40

Thanks red, Willy Wonka it is, I knew those old hats would come in useful Smile.

ApuskiDusky · 29/09/2011 20:45

Pickled, you're not the only one, a whole thread of ideas.

carciofi · 29/09/2011 21:01

Apuski, hope your job is going well. Have you chosen a bday present for yourself?

Ants, great boots. So are you going to wear them with the Whistles blouse to the reunion?

I dread the whole costume side of things at school, I am no good at it. DD1 has to go in one day next week dressed as what she aspires to be when she grows up (a doctor, she tells me). We have a toy stethoscope, just lacking the white coat!

Portia, have a lovely weekend with your DD. Bet she can't wait to come home.

My Gap down coat has just sold for over £70 on ebay, I think that's what I paid for it 5 years ago!

pickledsiblings · 29/09/2011 21:02

Ha ha Apuski, thanks.

blossoming · 29/09/2011 21:18

Wow carciofi, that is brilliant! Between ebay and discount codes, I am in awe!
Wondering when I can ebay last winter's dcs clothes. Might take photos this weekend. Won't be able to monitor it all so avidly now though!

Dd was fast asleep 6.30, so I did a quick shred between then and DSs bedtime. That might be my new shred time. Have been finding it difficult to fit in.
DH now home from London. Will want pandering to I'm sure!

OP posts:
ApuskiDusky · 29/09/2011 21:39

Oh god bloss, I'd forgotten about the very existence of shred! (hides from NY).My workplace has apparently got a gym on site but I haven't had a chance to go near.

Carciofi, the job's going pretty well I guess - the commute is a drag but I can work from home a bit so that makes things easier. The ds's have spent the last two days with the nanny at the beach though, so I'm pretty jealous of that. And the nanny and I have been discussing Mulberry, I might try to get to the outlet store and see what they've got.

DH has just calculated our spending over the last few months and it's pretty horrific, with one thing and another, so I need to calm down now I've mostly got my working wardrobe sorted.

Which means I need to shop from my wardrobe for the MU - I may well wear my great plains dress (which I wore for my 40th dinner) but opaques will be required! Red, I will pm you to see if our travel plans may coincide. Glad you can make it Portia, really sorry to miss those that can't.

Ambernj1 · 29/09/2011 21:53

Sadface, all my pals are going out tomorrow night and I can't go because of stupid bf

ApuskiDusky · 29/09/2011 22:03

Amber, sorry if you've already said, have you tried seeing if she'll take a bottle from someone else? Sometimes having the source of bf close by acts as a strong deterrent to bottle taking! (maybe shouldn't tell you that ds1 never took to a bottle so had to always bf until he could use a cup...)

Would second a cup - takes a lot of patience though. The lids of a Medela bottle are perfect for this. We tried loads of different bottles with DD but what really worked was her taking it from someone else and me being well away.

Apuski am booked on quite an early train to get some stuff (read hair and make-up) done on arrival. Would you be this way inclined? Will wait for PM. Glad work is going well and sounds like you have a lovely nanny there.

Am watching Appropriate Adult. Good grief.

Amber get your DH to give baby a bottle every night at 9pm regardless of them wanting or not. Worked for me.

Carciofi so cute about the "leaba"! Am impressed with you guys using your Irish. I grew up on Irish speaking home and I don't use it as much as I should.
Welcome back Petit. Was wondering where you were!

roary · 30/09/2011 07:48

Amber, dd would not take a bottle and ds we never bothered. By the time they were about 3 months they could reliably go 3-4 hours between feedings and that's enough time for dinner and a movie! If they woke early then whoever was babysitting would just cuddle. If our nanny often no prob at all; dh more of a panicker but he would put them in sling. And I never worried about alcohol in milk , on the basis I was not getting smashed.

Ambernj1 · 30/09/2011 09:04

Thanks all, am so cross with myself as i swore I wouldn't let this happen with her, but when you're knackered fannying around with a steriliser is the last thing you want to do when you can just get 'em out! To be fair as DH hasn't been around I haven't actually tried getting him to offer it, so who knows... He has faithfully promised to leave the office at 4pm tonight so we will try then.

roary 3-4 hours you say?? I seem to breed massive little beasts who cannot even be relied upon for 2 hours until solids are introduced.

If DH and bottle isn't successful will give a cup a whirl!

I feel like a right whinger as I know the benefits far outweigh any minor inconveniences to me, but I'm getting cabin fever (not helped by DH rolling home merry last night obviously having had a great evening!)

notyummy · 30/09/2011 09:11

amber - Good luck with your mission! I have to admit, because I knew I was going to have return to work for a couple of 'one off' days from 2/3 months onwards we introduced a bottle of EBM at the 3 week point. I would probably have left it longer due to the steriliser faffing you mnetion if it hadn't been a deadline! Would agree with getting someone else to do it - was always DHs job at the 7pm feed. DD was also rather rotund (99th centile!!) but we were lucky in that it seemed to mean she went for a reasonable period between feeds at night. She did feed a lot during the day until about 4 months though. She did go through 4/5 days at about 3 months when she decided she didn't want a bottle any more, and poor DH spent the best part of 2 hours each night with her trying to get her to take it. I was ordered out to the gym because he was convinced that me being around wasn't helping (he may have been right....) and the whole thing stopped as suddenly as it started and she was back on the bottle happily.
