Thanks ? I fear it does a funny thing to my boobs though ? the cabling goes out slightly in that area and I think it makes me look too top heavy (which I am unfortunately). May post a picture to garner opinion.

Ooh nice jumper red! I loved that peter pan collar top but thought it may not be flattering on my DDs, but if you are also top heavy maybe I should try on...

Got a nice day out with my DM planned for tomorrow, when I will be continuing to hunt for a dress for Sat, fingers x-ed I'll find one!

redllamayellowllama · 27/09/2011 23:01

I liked it Amber - it looked good in a ?50?s way, I think (if that makes any sense at all). I feel very ?me? in a Peter Pan collar actually.

redllamayellowllama · 27/09/2011 23:04

And good luck dress hunting tomorrow - maybe some joy in your wunderbar TK Maxx? I?ve occasionally seen some great, colourful numbers in my average one, so goodness know what your will throw up!
I have that skirt in a virtual basket and am umm-ing and aah-ing.

wideawakenurse · 28/09/2011 10:05

Quickly dipping in - mad few days at work and then friends here for lunch today.

icecream I have the Leighs too - they are great. I wanted them in the grey as well but out of my size. I bought this top for cooler weatherto go with them, really comfortable too.

Back later!

rufus101 · 28/09/2011 10:27

Great haul NY. I particularly love the skirt, and the zebra dress you didn't buy! And the silver jumper.
I have to say, I am not feeling the love for the cable jumpers. Probably too many memories of my youth spent in similar attire, and it is just not flattering on my small frame. My mother was a fantastic knitter, and she used to knit all sorts for me. All very fashionable for the time, but they swamp me.
Amber I bought a skirt exactly like that in the most beautiful dark red in Oxfam for 7 euro. It was brand new, and I don't recognise the make. But it is fabulous, and people keep stopping me to ask where I got it. I wear with black slim fit sweater or a grey leopard print APC sweater I got last year.
Portia that happened me once as well. Fortunately I didn't have anyone to answer to except myself!
Well I went to a large outdoor shop yesterday, and tried on every single north face, merre and they make me look like the back of a bus. Now I know this is vain, but I am prepared to sacrifice s bit of warmth so that my rear end doesn't look like two Volkswagens in a tent. The only one which looked reasonable was a brand called Luhta, and the coat was only 145 euro. It was 3/4 length, but the knee length ones made me look like a child dressed in my older sister's coat. Have had a look on line and they seem more $$$, so maybe I should snap up before they realise their mistake! I still want to try the Barbour one though. I like the belt. In fact after yesterday I realise I need
a belt.
Hope you get a nice dress Amber!

notyummy · 28/09/2011 11:01

Just popping in to say that I loved the gold VWA dress you linked to Fritzi. Not Ferrero R IMHO - although certain skin tones would look a lot better in it than others.

I think you should buy that coat Rufus!

OllieinOrange · 28/09/2011 13:31

ASH boot update - went back to the shop that had them on hold for me - even with 2 insoles and socks, they were still too big on my left foot so a clear sign not to get them! They had these Gabor ones in there as tho - on sale for about 60 pounds here am quite tempted as the heel height is good (unlike the Kew ones I liked) and so is the price. You all need to say if they are too puss in boots-like tho - me and my lack of shoe mojo and all that.....!

Red love the jumper - big fan of peter pan collars here too!

Rufus coats sounds good. I hate buying coats as lots dont suit me so decided last year to buy when I found any - hence my collection of er, more than a few new ones!

blossoming · 28/09/2011 18:14

Hi everyone. My goodness, I've been hot today. Went on a school visit to one of my video conferencing group which is about an hour away, then did another hour in the car over a mountain road back to college, then back home, then back down to piano lesson.... My car is boiling hot. I ended up with a massive headache. But better now. Wales is very very beautiful in this weather, unfortunately lots of slow drivers around admiring the view!

My DH has really gone over the top this birthday coming (look away now..) A package has arrived for him this morning, from LK Bennett. It is the Davina in pinstripe (he asked for the CS number as he knew it wasn't available online). He didn't go to this expense for my 40th last year. Don't really understand it. But not complaining either!

ollie, it was the Limited Collection winter shorts with a bow thing on the front. But...think I'm sending them back. Think they're a bit young for me, and too much leg on show.

rufus, I agree with you re belts on coats. Sure you'll find one soon. Lol at your description, although you are obviously exaggerating. We've seen photos remember!

annie, can't you tell I'm loving being in workwear again!

OP posts:
redllamayellowllama · 28/09/2011 19:40

Oh dear Rufus - I hate coat shopping for much the same reason. Have caved and ordered the Barbour, so shall report back.

Bloss your DH has gone wild! Is that a handbag, a dress and a coat now? What are you feeding him please? Must get DH on the same page.

Ollie something about the boots is worrying me - I think the turnover is too much maybe? They are nice and a good price but if you're unsure you're unlikely to wear, no?

I also bought the Eliza Whistles skirt that Amber linked to. Nothing like a bit of peer pressure, is there?

Am in an outfit quandary for Saturday - am going to kids party in the afternoon, then DH is taking the kids back to his parent's whilst I go on to meet my sister for dinner and then head with her to a mutual friends birthday drinks in a cool (but scruffy cool) bar in Camden. What's going to be the crossover outfit there?!

I was in Waitrose today and noticed their Heston Christmas Puddings on sale and may have bought one... My earliest Christmas purchase ever.

We have our first sleepover guest and both girls are asleep. Phew, think I need a large Wine now...

Have to stop impulse buying. After buying too many grey cashmere "pieces" at the sample sale last week, I got this tux wool jacket. I also bought the notyummy's lovely lace skirt in navy blue but I should return it really as I won't be able to wear it much. They also had a lot of warm down coats, not as nice as the Aigle you all covet obviously but good if someone looking for a cheaper alternative.

I think I'm not going to do any cable knitwear this season

ollie I agree the fold-down bit doesn't seem right on those boots. I am also prejudiced as Gabor is a German brand originally and equals old lady shoes, sorry... What was wrong with the Kew boots, they look lovely on the website!

bloss Yay for your generous DH!

I have to decide what to wear for MU. The dress I wanted to wear would be perfect for afternoon tea but would totally out of place for a bar on a Saturday. Plus I have no idea how warm/cold it is going to be next week. Trenchcoat or proper winter coat? Bare legs or opaques? Will boots be ridiculous if it continues to be that warm?

MarshaBrady · 28/09/2011 20:30

It's hard to decide isn't it. For eg I would wear maybe Sandro dress and new APC boots to afternoon tea. But no way to the bar bit.

Hmmm..

Love the tux jacket Fritzi and animal print Anniemac!

Dh is out and my word I didn't realise how dependent ds2 has become on him doing the night time part. Agh

IceCreamCastles · 28/09/2011 20:35

I like that Annie.

Blimey Bloss - what a lovely lot of presents - you deserve it though.

Is it the Barbour parka that you've gone for red? I'm so tempted.

Rufus - completely with you on sacrificing warmth for vanity reasons Grin.

Love the idea of cable jumpers but they make me look 12.

Good luck dress hunting Amber - and enjoy the wedding.

I like that top WAN - Not sure why it didn't make it into my basket as I'm sure I saw it when I ordered the rest.

Shame the leighs don't come in a darker blue - would be more versatile then no? DH threw a spanner into the works by saying they made my bum look bigger than it did in the baxters and then not appreciating how much of an important consideration that was!

What size are you? I'll look our for the grey ones when I go in in person at the weekend if you like?

I also ordered this which is a good colour on me and can stay

and this which I thought looked really pretty but is rather polyestery and not such a good colour so can go back.

Massive Seraphine order should be with me tomorrow - so excited!

DD made me very proud today by clambering all over a new playground like a pro - even getting up the rock climbing thing to get to the slide. Such a massive improvement in her confidence over the past few weeks Smile

IceCreamCastles · 28/09/2011 20:38

at suggestions of multi purpose outfits for meet up. Have no idea what I'm wearing - pickled - are you prepared for this?

blossoming · 28/09/2011 20:44

Well done baby icey! My dd is such a bruiser! Her lovely delicate cousin was round yesterday (brother's dd). Not much hope for my dd and the CM with three boys too!

Hope you're enjoying a large one fritzi. I may join you as dh is away. This weather is really difficult to plan for. 27C today.

red, the coat is now an anniversary present apparently! Remind me to get him something at MU!

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 28/09/2011 20:46

This weather is making me want to buy one last summer pretty dress. Dangerous.

FritziGreenEyes · 28/09/2011 20:47

Well done on mastering new playground iceylette!

annie Love Bally!

marsha TBH I have never been to an afternoon tea thing Blush. Is there a dress code?

IceCreamCastles · 28/09/2011 20:48

Control yourself Marsha - It will snowing or something by next week.

MarshaBrady · 28/09/2011 20:51

Haha I have no idea either. Afternoon tea.... I thought the red Halston cashmere might be a Bit Much Grin

But then could get away in a dark place... ie bar.

I did see a 'hen do' when I swung by venue. They were very afternoon tea-ish with a dash of high heel.

MarshaBrady · 28/09/2011 20:52

Yes I know. Snow. I must resist it will take days to arrive and sun will be gone.

FritziGreenEyes · 28/09/2011 20:54

Have just checked the 14day weather forecast, which is usually totally useless but anyway: Temperatures will drop to about 20 (day)/ 8 (night) degrees by next Friday. That means there is no way I will need a proper winter coat for London. So for me it will be either trench, Pure jacket or leather jacket.

redllamayellowllama · 28/09/2011 20:56

Weather is very annoying - is jeopardising my perfectly planned MU outfit. I need it to be about 10c ideally!

Icey I very much like the blue top - shame about the other one as it looks lovely in the picture. TS stuff often like that, I think. Yes, the parka. It needs to be perfect at that price though, so will be casting a very critical eye when it arrives. Well done your DD - I love seeing their independence/confidence develop. A lovely lady approached me in the park today to tell me how lovely she thought DS was - it made my week.

Hope DS is ok Marsha.

redllamayellowllama · 28/09/2011 20:57

Opaques at 20c? Probably not, hey?
