Hi everyone. Come and join in with your lovely links to autumn/winter clothes!

OP posts:
carciofi · 26/09/2011 15:23

NY, that does sound awkward.
Apuski, finding yourself a present is a nice dilemma to have! Do you recommend the Comptoir jeans?
Icey, hope you will be very happy in your new house. India Knight has a funny post about Barbours.

carciofi · 26/09/2011 15:28

I used to like Crazy Larrys Blush and go a lot 15 years ago or so (with Keelin, Rufus!). Wow, I'm old.

OllieinOrange · 26/09/2011 15:34

Hi Icey so glad to see you. Was starting to fret - am like a mother hen when pregnant W&A's dont post for a while! What a pain re the movers - hope something gets sorted and you can focus on your lovely new home.

Leaf am banned from buying anymore coats for at least 12 months - totted up 4 new ones within 9 months plus have the Aigle on order! Have a navy coat similar to the H&M one from last winter which I'll wear again. The reason you can't remember by body shape was that it was hidden under a baggy dress which I didn't know was so baggy until I put it on in the hotel and thought 'bugger'!

Ambernj1 · 26/09/2011 15:50

carciofi have frequented Crazy Larrys as recently as 2008! The shame.

redllamayellowllama · 26/09/2011 16:08

Have just booked my train tickets for the MU (and maybe a session at Laura Mercier and a blow dry at the Topshop blow-dry bar; OTT?!), am very excited!
Happy birthday for mini-Pickled tomorrow.
Good to hear from you Icey - things sound bloody busy, hope the move goes smoothly on Friday and you then have some time (amongst the boxes) for a bit of feet-up time.
Oh NY family politics are tricky. I?ve just had MIL on the phone complaining about BIL; I was very restrained and bit my tongue, as I knew it would come back and bite me on the bum.
Fab haul Deep - the top is gorgeous. Will make sure to pop in to H&M tomorrow.
I read that Carciofi and was then confused as it is also washable, but surely wouldn?t be washable if getting it wet ruined the down. Or maybe it?s perpetual wetness as opposed to a wash. I think I might be over-thinking this. I was walking along today trying to remember how much it actually rains when it?s cold enough to wear such a coat. Pickled?s probably right. So lovely that your DD is so happy at nursery.
Have just taken DD to Gymboree for the first time and she was in her element; the girl is fearless. Has been asleep now for 2.5hrs though, so it clearly wore her out.

blossoming · 26/09/2011 16:53

Hi everyone. Lovely to see so many posts when I logged in.

Thanks for all your comments re DS's b'day party. One last thing. One of the boys blew out his candles Angry He is also the son of the childminder. Awkward.

annie, hope you're feeling better today. I know what you mean about weekends being hard. I hope you are feeling all the support from here.

deepleaf, great top! What a brilliant haul. And how did you miss ollie's owl?!

ollie, 'it's cooking oil you need, love' (quote from a valleys builder when I lived in s wales, after they put a cement mixer on my wooden floor). Gets rid of scratches apparently.

Last year I bought a Barbour, a wool coat, the pure jacket and the BR trench Blush, oh and the craghopper! Still room for one more! I obviously don't think one coat fits all red. Hope DH isn't lurking actually...

fleecy, thinking about you. Hope you're well and looking forward to the new arrival. Really exciting times!

High fives are great carciofi. DD has started doing them too. She sounds really happy in her preschool

Hi to everyone else. Did you all see the rugby this morning?! (Honestly, Wales' best ever score pickled!) Could meet Ireland soon (won't mention it on here though carciofi, rufus, verity and portia. I fear Ireland have a bone to pick with us after the 6 nations!)

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 26/09/2011 17:21

Oh dear about the candles Bloss!

Well lovely friends at the school really loved the new boots So guess they are a keeper!

Pickled not sure what I mean by skirt-and-boots I saw it on another thread Grin.

MarshaBrady · 26/09/2011 17:23

Icey I Grin at you only half joking.

AntPants1 · 26/09/2011 20:11

Annie so sorry to hear all is a bit tough at the moment. It must be so hard having your DH away so much. You always sound so devoted to your DCs. I am crossing my fingers you make it to the meet (but no pressure I totally understand if you don't).

ollie what a pain about the skirt. I live very near a Kew. If you PM me we could arrange that Kew send a replacement to my local branch which I can pick up and bring to the meet with me.....

I have no idea really what I am going to wear. Am far more scared about my 20 year school reunion on sat!!! Its a lunchtime do and I suspect it will not be the done thing to look like I've made too much effort. So I am guessing skinnies and a top? Might get some new skinnies. Or maybe some great Ash boots...am tempted by the wedges marsha linked to, or the new Jalouse. Want something in black.

fleecy not long. Seems only last week you announced you were pregnant!

Emo76 · 26/09/2011 20:47

hi, just popping in to say hi and try to catch up - do I see a mention of Crazy Larry's? Is it still going? Potential meet up venue? My brother met his fiancee there - good times!

Have just ordered some close fitting scoop neck tops from GAP to wear under wool work dresses to try to save on dry cleaning. Certainly doesn't count as exciting shopping but I am hopeful...

Looking fwd to the meet up, woo hoo oink Smile

OllieinOrange · 26/09/2011 20:53

Is it wrong that I have just spent an enjoyable 30 mins, okay, an hour then, perusing the Christmas stuff on the John Lewis, Next and M&S websites?
(Don't answer that!)

rufus101 · 26/09/2011 21:24

Crazy Larrys sounds fun! My kind of place Carciofi
this is the Zara feather scarf I got recently. Goes with everything. Can't find a link to the electric blue hight waisted short cocoon style skirt I got there, which is very WIT looking. Think she has a similar one which she likens to Marni.
Ollie how can you be looking at Christmas websites?!!
Bloss I am [shocked] that another boy blew out DS' candles. That is appalling, and what can you do when his mum is Ds' childminder. I am trying to persuade DD not to have a party for her 8th birthday this year. I find the girls very trying. They expect full on professional entertainment. Last year I booked someone to do nail art, and she NEVER TURNED UP. What a panic. Luckily my Dsis was there to come to the rescue. They all went home looking like applicants for Little Miss Universe. (Not a good look in my neck of the woods)
Great haul from H and M DeepLeaf, I find H and M great for tops. I must scoot in this week. Pay day (phew) this week. It has been one of those 5 week months for me pay wise, which I find very trying.
Going to a wine tasting on Thursday and Jane Eyre on Saturday, followed by theatre night out in Chapter One Restaurant and the Gate theatre next week. Carciofi will know what a treat that is. Chapter One is a Michellin Star restaurant which does the best pre theatre meal ever. About 40 euro for 3 courses. Amazing value.

Hi all, just off to bed and will catch up properly tomorrow. Wanted to say Florencej crew mire true to size, less vanity sized than gap. I am a uk 10 and occasionally 12 ib fitted things on the top and wear j.cre 6 in to users and 8 in fitted dresses and tops.

Thanks, icey!
bloss: Gr. How yucky.

Now, colours. I had them redone today and am bright spring. Nit autumn. Makes much more sense. My wow colours from HoC all appear in bright spring and no dud colours. Analyst shocked about autumn and showed some autumn drapes to make her point. Went with my mom who agreed. Incidentally, carciofi, she is v stylish but j crew dress for me!! Anyway really highly recommend this system, lady is here till 4 oct in London and gas times available. Deep leaf, you were right about my spring ness!

roary · 26/09/2011 22:43

Apologies for hideous iPad typing errors.

blossoming · 26/09/2011 22:46

I know rufus. We were seriously questioning our judgement in moving back here. Still, can't move now! Or send him to private school? Trying to tell myself it did me no harm being the only one of my friends with university educated parents. If that makes a difference?
Enjoy your nights out. One of DH's new MSc students asked him how to spell Ireland today!!?

That's great news roary. Glad you're finally happy with your analysis.

rufus101 · 26/09/2011 22:50

No Bloss! Can't believe that!
Don't worry your DS will take after you both, you'll see.

florenceuk · 26/09/2011 23:33

there is a lovely cashmere feather scarf on cocosa at the moment here for members.

Thanks Roary I think I deciphered it :) - so I should try a US size 6 I guess.

roary · 27/09/2011 10:14

Oh my goodness, I didn't realize the full horror of my Ipad typing. Glad you deciphered Florence...

OllieinOrange · 27/09/2011 11:08

Bloss just read back properly. Was is the M&S Limited Collection shorts you got? V nice if so. Im quite tempted by the grey cord ones in Gap or even the herringbone ones but struggling to think what I would wear on top with them. Thats terrible about the boy blowing out DSs candles - old enough to know better. When we reached 7/8 my parents switched from parties to birthday treats involving just one or 2 friends such a trip to go ice skating followed by seeing ET (showing my age now!) at the cinema - think we will be doing the same.
Ants thats so kind of you but spoke to Kew CS yesterday and they are holding another skirt until I visit on the 8th so hopefully all sorted.
Roary you sound a very happy Spring!

Speaking of the meet up - think there are a few attendees still to pay - I hate chasing so this is a friendly nudge!

Helped take DS1s class to the library this morning - had quite a nice time and even got to read Grazia in Dutch!

notyummy · 27/09/2011 12:10

Ladies. In London for meetings and I bring reports back from fashions front line (that's Zara and Top Shop in case you were wondering!) Having said I wouldn't go near H and M for fear of buying, I obviously should have included those 2 in the list. Have bought lace pencil skirt and silver wool cable knit from Zara and polka dot dress and bright green over sized jumper in Top Shop. Links later! Zara had soooooo much lovely stuff in and I tried on a lot. Fair to say that I had more success with separates rather than dresses- dresses in Zara don't really seem cut for smallish waists and not smallish bottoms Grin.

More later- hope you are all having good days.
