Hi everyone. Come and join in with your lovely links to autumn/winter clothes!

Fleecy · 23/09/2011 21:55

Am cheered by the other short-sighted ladies. Am -7 and -8 with astigmatism too Grin

Has anyone seen any reasonably cheap black flat or low-heel boots? Am struggling to find some that aren't mumsy but are comfy and would work with dresses all winter.

Sorry about DS bloss

carciofi · 24/09/2011 11:24

Red, I would avoid her! I saw in Grazia Blush that there will be a Whistles discount code in the next week's issue, if you want to get that sweater.

Bloss, hope you are having a good morning in Chester.

It is a lovely day here and we are off to the farmers market.

Bonsoir · 24/09/2011 12:04

Just a quick dash in and out - I used to be -6 and -8 with an astigmatism (so contact lenses and lots of pairs of glasses) but had my eyes lasered in 2002 and haven't looked back. I really recommend it (and it's much cheaper too!).

carciofi · 24/09/2011 15:20

Roary, welcome back. Your mother is very stylish, I like the red dress. I am reading The End of Everything by Megan Abbott, worth a read.

ApuskiDusky · 24/09/2011 17:12

Quick hello as I chill in my hotel room - not entirely successful shopping day though. I bought a jumper and some skinny jeans from CdC, then traipsed around some jewellers but didn't find anything I loved. Tried on some Ash boots but my heel was slipping out even when I sized down.

florenceuk · 24/09/2011 17:26

Roary how does J Crew size up - is the dress small or large for size (I'm a 10).

I quite like this purple dress and this jacket here Free shipping - I wonder what returns are?

blossoming · 24/09/2011 17:33

Hi all, just bought this skirt and this top. They look great on but they're taking the skirt up for me. High waisted suits me so much better.
Only a year behind bonsoir and fleecy, I got some charcoal winter shorts and a charcoal cashmere beret from m&s to give last year's light grey one a break! At mil's, back later.

bloss love the new outfit.

Have just bought these shoe boots from marks and spencers. Bargain!

redllamayellowllama · 24/09/2011 20:45

Lovely purchases Ant and Bloss. Boots are v bargainous indeed!
Have had a gorgeous day wandering around the shops with another of the camping WAGS; both babies were wonderfully behaved, allowing for plenty of browsing opportunities. I bought this maxi skirt which finally used up some River Island vouchers I?ve had lurking in my bag. I have also got the green Whistles jumper on hold till Tuesday Carciofi when I shall be marching in armed with a copy of Grazia; thank you for that! It really is very lovely on. Very much liked these boots but cannot justify another pair. Also tried on the NF parka, which surprisingly fitted me very well length-wise, so am set to order. Carciofi where did you order from and would you recommend?
I?m doing a good deed and babysitting for our neighbour?s little girl tonight; am hoping we can set up a little babysitting swap with one another so DH and I can finally got out together!

I shall be taking it up somewhat to avoid the scandal to my family ? am sure the officious woman from book club would spread such news like wildfire! I have read her description of childbirth over and over again as it resonates so much me; it so articulately conveys everything I felt, right up to how surreal it all was. I have quite a large girl crush on Caitlin Moran, actually.
Our books (of which there are far too many) are still packed in boxes in the garage until we get round to fitting shelves in our ?adult? room. I miss them.

AntPants1 · 25/09/2011 09:39

red and deep another big fan of Caitlin Moran here!! I loved how to be a woman. I agree with deep it was a book you inhale!!!

Just at the gym. DCs in the creche. Moment to myself as DH on a stag do so full on weekend with DCs...with DS waking at all sorts of odd hours in the night at the moment. am so tired I have headache. Anyway relishing the hour to myself and reading the Sunday's. telegraph has a 25% and free delivery for Pure. Code is DTW2.

wideawakenurse · 25/09/2011 09:52

Morning All - glorious day here weather wise.

Poor you Ants, is DH home today? Enjoy your peaceful hour.

I am cooking roast pork, and have made my own stuffing for the first time as couldn't find a suitable ready made one for DS. House smells good though.

I'll hopefully post a hair picture later, as its still wet from the shower and not looking that great at the moment. DH still prefers blonds though.

A few purchases made yesterday, some maternity "Leigh" jeans from Topshop in Royal Blue and a cream jumper. Nothing that exciting, but think they are wise purchases for the coming months.

I tried on the R&B flats - they are just too narrow for me. So I am on the look out for a black ballett flat, must have a leather insole and not slim fitting.

notyummy · 25/09/2011 18:57

Hi all!

I like your maxi skirt Red - but you knew I was going to say that didn't you Wink.

I have 'How to be a woman' on my order list from the library, but it hasnt come in for me yet. Currently reading both 'Room' and 'The Slap' that I also ordered from the library.

Busy social weekend here. DH won himself massive brownie points on Friday night by babysitting (not just siting downstairs whilst they slept, but doing bath/story and actually getting to sleep) 3 over-excited 5 year olds whilst myself and my friends got reading to go out, gossiped and drank champagne Grin. We had 4 people staying overnight, and 5 ladies round for drink and nibbles. DH was also wine waiter, nibble re-supplier and tidied up after we tottered off (already slightly tipsy...) to the pub and restaurant. Wore dark grey houli-likies with new purple ruches sleeve top and grey leopard heels.

Once we had long breakfast and people departed I nipped out for a short run yesterday (was feeling slightly rough from the night before if truth be told, so more than 4 miles was not going to happen.) Took DD to gymnastics and retired to Costa for a sharpener! Lazy night in front of the telly.

We had DHs work friends round for lunch today, which went better than I was expecting. They were nice people and their DDs (10 and 12) were very sweet and looked after 5 year dd beautifully. She, of course, hero-worshipped the big girls, and was only too happy to be shown how to draw things and play game on the wii.

Feeling pretty bloated after a weekend of over-indulgence. May need a couple of days on the Dukan attack pre-meet-up at this rate! DH and I did manage a double shred this morning, so that may go some way to repairing the damage that inflicted by a roast dinner followed by chocolate pudding and icecream....and then coffee and chocolates Shock.

Hope you all had great weekends. Just finished watching Doctor Who with DD and am about to prepare all my work stuff for tomorrow. Big presentation so must look smart.

OllieinOrange · 25/09/2011 20:03

Back from our WE away - lovely time in a small house set in a huge forest. Weather was great so lots of lovely bike rides along forest paths, making dens, swimming and eating copious amounts of ice cream as we were on our "holidays"!

Have come back to a lovely clean and shiney wooden floor (was done whilst we were away) - only for DH to make 2 huge scratches in it putting the sofas back in the sitting room. He is v annoyed with himself but these things happen (we got married 7 years ago today - think I am feeling all warm and fuzzy as normally I would have made all manner of sour faces at him for doing something like that!)

Will catch up now.

OllieinOrange · 25/09/2011 20:37

Animal print lovers - saw these sandals on the NL website and thought they looked a great buy - if this sun keeps out, you may even be able to wear them now!

here

carciofi · 25/09/2011 22:22

Ollie, happy anniversary!

Happy birthday to Apuski too (I think it was yesterday?).

Nice outfit, Bloss, you will look amazing. Great boots too, Ants.

Deep, like the idea of a private library.

NY, your dh is a gem! Sounds like a great weekend. Do you do the Dukan attack phase every so often? I considered doing it but only want to lose a couple of pounds, not the amount Dr Dukan recommends for me and don't want to commit to the long term diet. Also I don't want to give up wine, having given it up for 9 months recently! Wine Grin

Red, I ordered the arctic parka from this place as it is a little cheaper. I haven't received it yet as they aren't in stock though supposed to arrive any day now, however they haven't debited the money yet and answer emails very promptly so they seem like a good site. I was just about to cancel my order and get the Barbour parka instead but read Drowninginlaundry's comment about it on the waterproof coat thread and I'm sticking with the NF parka. My NF greenland jacket is still going strong after 7 years so I don't think you can go wrong with the North Face.

Verity, hope you are holding up ok.

Too late to be on here, but have been working furiously and now need to wind-down; the work is a little bit harrowing at times.
Glad you?re having fun with your Mum annie.
Thanks for that Carciofi - I?ve been going through the same turmoil today ? I?m now umm-ing and aah-ing that the NF wasn?t particularly ?wow? when I tried it yesterday and may have compressed my bosom and hung a bit form there. Is the Barbour concern that it isn?t actually waterproof? DH is already very bored of this dilemma.
Sound like wonderful weekends Ollie and NY. DH and DS returned very happy from their camping trip, with the promise of more to follow, think I?ll wait for DD to be a bit older before we join them.
WAN hope your roast was lovely, homemade stuffing sounds gorgeous

redllamayellowllama · 26/09/2011 00:09

Glossed over one of your posts Annie , that seems insensitive of me. Sorry to hear you?re feeling glum ? what you are doing must be really, really hard. Could you plan some lovely bits to do for when he is back? Or, moreover, some lovely bits for you and the DDs to get up to at the weekends to make the passing of time a little quicker?

Hello, Avids :) I'm not stylish or beautiful and don't post here ... but, every time a new thread starts, I mean to tell you how much I love your titles!
Er .. that's it. Happy shopping!

Fleecy · 26/09/2011 08:50

Morning garlic - nice to have people pop in. I recognise you from my time lurking on the feminist boards, perhaps I should reciprocate and actually post something on there!

annie I'm sorry you're having a hard time. It's clear from your posts how much you miss your DH and how happy you are to have him back. Hopefully the time will fly and you'll have a wonderful time with your beautiful girls.

Hope you had a lovely anniversary ollie and glad you enjoyed your weekend away.

No S&B news at all here. Am leaving the house as little as possible just waiting for the baby to arrive. If it doesn't come this week then my section will be happening next Monday so only a little patience required...
