Hi everyone. Come and join in with your lovely links to autumn/winter clothes!

FritziGreenEyes · 22/09/2011 11:47

verity That is so sad about your aunt...

rufus101 · 22/09/2011 11:50

ollie that's so stressful about DH. As Bloss says, a batch of short bread might lift the spirits. I get the feeling that you're a good "cheer leader" to have, so he is lucky to have you in his corner.
I LOVE the cuckmore. I definitely need a warm coat and spent most of last year shivering. Must see where I can get it from.

Loved Bridesmaids also. I still chuckle when I think of some of the lines. I loved when they were trying to out do eachother in the speeches pre wedding! Going to see Jane Eyre Saturday. Have a mild crush on Michael Fassbender! Shhh! Don't tell DH!
You won't regret the boots Annie! My DH approved too. BTW you are on fire with the links these days!

notyummy · 22/09/2011 11:55

So sorry to hear about your Aunty Verity. Thinking of you and your family.

MarshaBrady · 22/09/2011 11:55

Verity sorry about your aunt, Ollie hope your dh is ok. NY hope your dd is ok.

All boxes have arrived and adore the leopard-print belt and top is good.

I love these Tory Burch ones but not sure whether they are too much for day. They are very comfortable, but quite high.

So I thought I should buy these APC dark brown boots to compare! RIGHT that is it for now!

MarshaBrady · 22/09/2011 11:57

Snow boots very good idea Verity. I really feel for you re your lovely aunt. It is always a shock and so sad.

rufus101 · 22/09/2011 12:03

Meant to say, poor DD NY and a real worry for you. Hate being on tenter hooks medically. Casserole sounds good though, I never chicken casserole well. Always watery and yuck!

VerityBrulee · 22/09/2011 12:06

Thanks Smile

Marsha those APC boots are seriously gorgeous Envy

MarshaBrady · 22/09/2011 12:21

Thanks! I only just checked email, one size left. Man I moved fast Grin

rufus101 · 22/09/2011 12:40

Oh no Verity, how sad.

Bonsoir · 22/09/2011 13:12

Verity - so sorry to hear about your aunt. Good luck for the next few days - funerals are always very wearing.

dolceebanana · 22/09/2011 13:31

So sorry to hear your sad news Verity. Look after yourself.
Those boots are very nice...am going to order some. Thank you for sharing.

I do believe we are in for a hard winter so am going to invest wisely.

hope DD is okay notyummy. Always a worry.

Fritzi - yes have ideas about bathrooms too. Timeless, classic white, I think. I love the Copo Bath at Albion Bath Co and great big showerheads in chrome. Apart from that, simple.

Bonsoir · 22/09/2011 13:42

Ooh bathrooms! I have a lot of bathroom fantasies Smile. I like big reconditioned roll top baths in the middle of room with a parquet floor and mouldings, and old distressed mirrors in flaking gold frames, and a walk in shower with metro tiles on two sides and glass on the other two... and cement tiled floors and a comfortable armchair upholstered in waffle fabric... and reconditioned radiators...

dolceebanana · 22/09/2011 14:32

Ooh yes, Bonsoir, we had an armchair in our old bathroom which I'd had upholstered in a white calico. Was lovely to sit in the bath and chat to dh...who'd recline in said chair, invariably with a glass of wine in hand.

You can never hadve too many armchairs I feel.

Bonsoir · 22/09/2011 14:41

Sounds lovely. How about a little table for putting the glass of wine/champagne/whatever down on? In fact, I am quite partial to drinking a glass of prosecco in the bath after a long day - some sort of little shelf (gilt? Italian) for the flûte might be a nice idea...

carciofi · 22/09/2011 15:03

Verity, I am so sorry about your aunt, thinking of you.

Hmm, those snow boots look good.

Rufus, I could bring the coat back for you end of October, if you like.

NY, sorry your DD is ill again. I had pneumonia several times as a child.

Bonsoir, Dolcee, don't forget the Flake!

DH is working really long hours, until 2 or 3 in the morning, I feel sorry for him and he is not around to do the 11pm feed (he normally does it). The baby seems to have put herself into a Contented Little Baby style routine on her own, without me following a routine at all except for putting her to bed at 7, it's quite funny.

Marsha, I love the APC boots.

No S&B news here, except my black hunters arrived and also got a nice black cable knit from Pure which I think I will wear with a black leather skirt, whenever that turns up.

Trying to clear out winter clothes but I find it hard to get rid of things.

OllieinOrange · 22/09/2011 15:06

Verity thats so sad about your Aunt. I remember you saying how ill she had been and how she had shown such spirit during her long recovery. I hope that you will be able to think of all the happy times you shared with her and feel some comfort. Im passing you some virtual shortbread and a big hug x

Thanks for all your lovely, wise words about DHs job. We are both taking the wait and see approach. DH has been told unofficially they want to keep him under the new structure but I know how the goalposts can move during re-structuring so who knows. Should all be sorted by November.

Need to think about our WE away and what to take. Our wooden floors are being sanded and varnished and we need to allow them 2 days to dry hence us going away. Forecast is sunny which should be lovely. Staying in a huge forest where you can hire bikes and cycle round - even has a sculpture trail to follow. Know it will be hard work to drag the kids away from the indoor swimming pool with all the slides tho....

Bonsoir love the sound of your ideal bathroom and having a specific place for a flute - wonderful idea!

Loved the snow boots in the grey colourway.

redllamayellowllama · 22/09/2011 15:43

So sorry to hear about your Aunt Verity, hope that the next few days go as smoothly as they can and you find some time for a bit of reflection amongst it all.
Carciofi meant to comment on how adorable your DD looked ? so glad pre-school is going well for her.
Your brave DD NY. Hope all goes well at the hospital.

Hi everyone!

Firstly, verity, I was so sorry to hear the bad news about your aunt. I remember you talking about her touchingly last winter. As red said, I hope you have time to reflect and also to grieve. So sad.

notyummy, I hope things went well in the hospital. You have such a brave dd, and you must be very strong to cope with all of this. Hope they work things out soon.

I just checked my bank balance, and it seems I have been paid!!! This county pays on the 4th Thursday of the month. It does seem rather ridiculous, but I am not complaining! Bring it on!

I am having a good day in fact, although feeling out of sorts after mammoth birthday cake baking and (sadly), bowl licking frenzy. DS's cake is made, although he has said yuck to green icing. So he is just having a square cake with jam in the middle, normal butter icing on top, sprinkles, and I just found 2 rugby player cake decorations in the post office. I could not believe it! I shall put them face down, possibly! And chupa chups for the corners. Also made coffee cupcakes for dsis who's bday was yesterday.

Yesterday I got a tax rebate of £70 so to broach the subject of the Aigle coat again this morning, I offered to pay £70 towards it, but we had to do it quick because of the pre-order thing. And lovely DH ordered it straight away. Do you think we'll get it ollie? I think it will be very popular. I am not getting overly excited. And if the 12 doesn't fit, so be it. I am not wearing 14 again. Ever. (note to self, stop licking bowls).

Finally I am very happy to report that I have my make up sorted for meet up and my outfit. I can get excited about it now!

DD has these Startrite boots which go with everything and look lovely. We?re lucky enough to have their factory shop 5 minutes down the road so we paid a bargainous £17 for them! Just as well considering we also had to buy black school shoes, plimsolls, trainers and wellies?

So glad you got that Kew skirt Ollie ? I love it! Sorry about your DH?s job though ? fingers crossed it will work out well for him.

Annie I have some heeled loafers from last year and also had some tan brogues for a while but wasn?t sure about them on me so returned them in the end. Not keen on flat loafers to be honest.

NY sorry about your DD ? what a brave girl she is but such a shame she has to be.

Verity very sad news about your Aunt ? I remember you posting about her when she was unwell before and I?m sorry to hear what?s happened.

Glad you finally found your trousers everything and that you had a good time away. You too Portia.

Love the bathroom ideas but think our 1980s house would not suit - we will be doing our bathrooms soon (have been saying that for a year!) and struggling to find more modern ideas I like.

blossoming · 22/09/2011 18:15

I am heading to Laura Ashley this Saturday to try on this pencil skirt, and this dress maybe. Although I prefer the top of this dress, but the dh has a jacket in dogtooth with patches on the elbows from his early lecturing days, which puts me off slightly. He does not wear it any more, let me assure you!

OllieinOrange · 22/09/2011 19:03

One of the 2 department stores here has started selling LK Bennett shoes - no sign of any clothes yet tho. (And Wallis has appeared in the other one).

God I hope we get the Aigle Bloss esp as a saw another navy one today that at any other time would have been fine but just hadn't got the detail which I liked on the Aigle. Winter coats sell out by the end of Oct here (stores seemingly only have 1 delivery per season) so I shall be in a winter-long grump if I have to wear my black one after decided to ditch it!

Whatcha wearing to the meet up? I have narrowed it down to 3 dresses - the grey GP one (still not had it altered tho), Janice or a blue dress with sone ruffles around the neckline which I've never worn - mainly due to the ruffles! May have to post some pics and let the W&A decide!

MarshaBrady · 22/09/2011 19:06

Thanks Carciofi! I think Hunters are a fab, I might have to get some. Black cable knit and leather skirt sound lovely together.

I need dh to get home to tell me if the TBurch wedges give a golf club look from side on.

Ollie did the PayPal arrive ok?

pickledsiblings · 22/09/2011 19:17

Evening All Smile

Verity, such sad news, thinking of you.

Welcome back Barcelona girls, skirt sounds great Leaf and love the sound of your A/W colours PORTIA.

Great that you've been paid Bloss and that you're getting used to seeing yourself on camera, make sure you bring a vid to the MU so we can see too.

Marsha and Red, I just could not watch MiC the other night, the guys are sooo annoying. Much rather watch True Blood Grin.

NY, your DD is helping with medial research, hope you both can appreciate how cool that is, in between the worry. Glad last nights meal was a success, I love tagines for the same reason.

pickledsiblings · 22/09/2011 19:23

Always forget something...Ollie, stressful times for DH, great that you have a weekend away planned and that you'll be coming home to a new floor. I hope it all works out well for you both.
