My thoughts exactly re. waterproof Carciofi. Hhhhm.

MrsCB I imagine you to be v much of a Grace Kelly. I intend to go for an electric blue hat or snood to liven up whichever coat I eventually get.

Do it Amber! Hear you on the lovely coat front.

florenceuk · 20/09/2011 22:40

Aigle looks lovely but not clear on its waterproofness? I have el cheapo non-waterproof down coat from Gap which does for days which are not wet but I did spot this: NF trench? which looks great (although black). personally for that much money I'd want waterproofness!

another splurge - I have bought this blouse and this pleated skirt although not sure what to wear the latter with (other than the top) so I may take it back.

reallygrumpy · 20/09/2011 22:41

I ordered the Aigle coat a few days ago and rang them before I ordered to ask about sizing (I've sized up) and also asked whether it's waterproof -it isn't so if you want a warm waterproof coat the NF parka is probably a better choice.

redllamayellowllama · 20/09/2011 22:45

You've swayed it for me ladies.

Florence they are both so lovely - I've had my eye on that top for a while. The skirt would look gorgeous with a fine knit tucked in or with a blouse as styled in the pic.

carciofi · 20/09/2011 23:23

Hi RG, how is your baby? Mine is 3 months old now and a little cutie. Thanks for the info, think the arctic parka is the one for me. Though the coat Florence linked shares my name!

Lovely top and skirt, Florence.

I have finally managed to take a look at the Aigle Cuckmere coat and you are all right, it is very nice. So nice, in fact, that I felt quite tempted, only, strangely enough, it doesn't appear to be on sale in France (at least it isn't on the French website). Frustrating, because we have a permanent 20% discount at Aigle (which I would love to be able to pass on to all you S&B W&A shoppers). Grrrrrrrrr.

OllieinOrange · 21/09/2011 08:42

Woke in the night thinking about the Aigle coat (I know!) and its waterproofness! Im wondering if my Zara one is really 'waterproof' but have been out in it in heavy snow and rain and its not got wet so am willing to take the risk. Will get it delivered to my sisters as 37 pounds P&P is just ridiculous!
Bloss did you size up? No idea whether to get a 12 or 14 now.

Boys at home today for teacher training day so having a lovely morning in PJs.

FritziGreenEyes · 21/09/2011 09:12

Love the enthusiasm for the Aigle coat, especially the supportive DHs! Smile

I have a deadline this Friday and still haven't done any work... Instead I am compiling lists of things/shops I want to look at when I'm in London for meet-up.

The DHL guy just delivered some lovely things for DD from Vertbaudet.

FritziGreenEyes · 21/09/2011 09:21

ollie Just added Office to my list to check out the shoes Wink

notyummy · 21/09/2011 09:54

Are lace tights now naff??

Am wearing the first tights of the 11/12 A/W season and they are lace. Ahh well - too late to worry now! Wearing with Oliver Bonas purple dress, heeled black brogues and black jacket.

I am staying away from the coat conversation to avoid temptation.

Ollie - thanks for the PM. Will try and remember to get DH to paypal you as he has an account and is quite happy to do it!

First bit of the mad social whirl starts tonight. Have done a chicken, chorizo and parma ham casserole that I am serving with cous cous and big salad for people to help themselves. Eton mess for dessert. No idea what I am wearing but is likely to be jeans and one of the new tops I got this week.

Gorgeous day here with Autumn undertones. V bright and breezy.

Hope you all have good days.

wideawakenurse · 21/09/2011 10:04

Hello All.

I have lost lots of threads here this morning, very frustrating.

Having my haircut today, cannot wait. I may well post some pictures later tonight.

I think lace tights are still fine for this year NY, your outfit sounds lovely.

Back later

pickledsiblings · 21/09/2011 10:26

Just noticed that there are 'unprecedented advanced sales' of the Cuckmere. Olive not available until late Oct and Night available from 10th Oct. Don't dilly dally too long or you may miss it altogether.

Enjoy your evening NY and get some work done Fritzi.

wideawakenurse · 21/09/2011 10:36

Agghhh! The pressure pickled. Grin

FritziGreenEyes · 21/09/2011 10:48

Aye aye, pickled!

NY, lace tights are not naff at all.

I got a reply from Aigle, it is approx 95cm in length, as there none in stock the woman can't measure it exactly. Knee length anyway.

DD1 started preschool this morning, very excited and ran all the way there. She wants to know if she can start wearing make-up now. :)

pickledsiblings · 21/09/2011 11:35

Alternative Aigle, less ££, a few small sizes left in the Noir.

I am too much of a hottie for a down coat so realise that above link may be totally 'off' Grin.

Carciofi, so pleased to hear that about DD1, hope you enjoy the 'free' time with DD2, iykwim.

blossoming · 21/09/2011 12:13

Fingers in ears, la la la...

Are puffa coats waterproof in general?
I have the craghopper for waterproof anyway!

I am getting used to seeing myself on video but have decided I hate my trousers. I am between sizes and the ones I have are too big. I need more dresses (saw a possible one on LA site, tweed skirt and black top but still a dress) and skirts. I think I have organizes a shopping trip to Chester on Saturday so will see.

Aigle now ordered - am getting it sent to Mums so I avoid the 37 pounds P&P - I mean really - thats the cost of a Zara blouse!

Rang Webury and they said they are only taking orders based on their expected delivery numbers - but of course they will only know when they open the boxes in October. She said they were true to size so I ordered a 12. She said they had had a run on them this week Wink !

notyummy · 21/09/2011 12:47

Those coats are gorgeous annie, but I am so clumsy I can see myself dripping takeaway coffee down them on the first outing. I am confined to dark(ish) coats for this very reason. Have never grown out of that messy toddler phase.....

notyummy · 21/09/2011 12:49

Am liking WIT's work today. I can't wear yellow, but the outfit looks great on her IMHO.

OllieinOrange · 21/09/2011 12:55

DH just phoned - they are going through a big re-organisation at work and he got a letter today saying he has to re-apply for his own job, only its not his job under the new structure but a different one. Proposed structure sees a dramatic cut in the number of Managment Board posts so lots of tension in the office. Really feel for him - not totally unexpected but not nice to see it in print. Knowing DH, he will really dwell on it all but not try to bring it home. Glad we have a family WE away this WE - another trip to a woodland holiday park.

(What are the chances of him phoning me literally minutes after I ordered the Aigle coat??? Talk about feeling guilty now). Belt tightening starts now.
