Hi everyone. Come and join in with your lovely links to autumn/winter clothes!

Ollie, your Aigle link doesn't seem to work. What is the back of your new MV top like? Oh, I thought of you and your crafty tendencies. They have already made a heart using a wire coat hanger and had great fun drilling holes in the conkers. The local pub which also sells bits and pieces has ordered 3 Smile. Must check out Jack the conker Sparrow.

Red trousers blog v. funny indeed. DH used to wear yellow Hmm trousers.

Have a great day everyone.

Bonsoir · 20/09/2011 08:07

Ollie - I'm not usually a fan of Ralph Lauren, but having found DD's winter jacket, plain blue as imposed by school, there, which is really warm, I browsed the women's section and think that this women's down coat is an incredibly flattering, glamorous colour.

blossoming · 20/09/2011 08:19

Morning all! Well my patience with MiL was short lived. She is back as dd is poorly and I lasted 5 mins before needing to escape and count to 10!

ollie, if I make a rectangular Madeira cake, cover it with green icing and splodges of chocolate (for mud), and make rugby posts out of white pipe cleaners. Do you think I could photocopy rugby players onto card then stick them on to the cake with cocktail sticks? As I've left it too late to get someone in and create something out of fondant icing?

Pickled - In dutch lesson (!) but this is the link to the conker craft here. Great about the pub orders!

Aigle coat is called Cuckmere or something similar. Love your dds coat Bonsoir, great shape. Agree the RL one is a lovely colour.

notyummy · 20/09/2011 08:45

Morning all.

Bloss - hope DD is better soon.

Love that blog!

Very order arrived yesterday. Keeping around half, although there is still one top to come:

Sending back this dress. It actually looks pretty good on tbh, but I gave myself a good talking too as I have a number of long black dresses already. Also, I think it is quite hard to pull off at 40 and over because at 30 you can look 'edgy' in it....and at 40 you run the risk of looking like you have bought a dress with sleeves because you have massive bingo wings. I don't have massive bingo wings so wouldn't want people thinking I am attempting to disguise them. Am I overthinking this? Grin

I am also sending back this pleated skirt. I actually think it looked ok, and my bottom didn't look that enormous, I just wasn't sure what I would wear it with, and I have bought 2/3 skirts over the past couple of months so decided against it.

Am keeping this cheapy WIT-a-like.

Also keeping this. Sizing is a bit mad as the 10 is a bit too big, but I want to be able to wear stuff underneath so am keeping it. V nice on.

This has metallic cuffs that you can't see well in the picture. Good for work with just a hint of embellishment.

And lastly, am keeping this. Looks much nicer in real life than the picture.

Am also waiting on a stripey top.

Right, must go and do some work.

FrancesFarmer · 20/09/2011 09:08

Oh, I love these!

A journalist in the Guardian's style section repeatedly spelt Miu Miu wrong today - it really annoyed me!

wideawakenurse · 20/09/2011 09:28

Hello all.

Ollie Funnily enough, I saw that Aigle cuckmore in a magazine advert yesterday, it's lovely. I am now in a coat dilema too. I had my Barbour cameroon last year which is great for wet days but not sure it's warm enough if we are to have another cold winter as predicted. It was easy to stay at home last year when the weather hit, but now DS is a year older I suspect I'll need to brave the elements a bit more.

Nice haul NY and the jumper is very similar to WIT's.

Hope DD is on the mend soon Bloss.

I suspect I'll be in the Primani nightwear section very soon Amber. I practically lived in their PJ's after having DS in thick snow - all the photos have me wearing them though. I intend to do better this time!

OllieinOrange · 20/09/2011 09:42

Bloss - still in dutch lesson but yes thatwould be fine, check ebay too for cake sets eg plastic players.

FritziGreenEyes · 20/09/2011 09:50

ollie Get rid of the black down coat. The Aigle one is very nice as is the RL. I bought a grey one from North Face last year and it was the best buy of the season really. It is knee length and was definitely warm enough.

frances Those shoes would look great with cigarette trousers.

amber/wan I think Hush is best for PJs.

bloss The cake will look fine. Hope DD gets better soon!

notyummy You always find great things from Very.

pickled If your DD is taking international orders, I would like to buy a conker heart for our front door please! Smile.

Those with DDs: Have ordered a skirt and a star print blouse for DD from this website. Delivery only took 2 days!

ireally Love my red trousers and the blog you linked to.

red Your sister's blog is fun too!

Bonsoir · 20/09/2011 10:14

Fritzi - that Alice à Paris site is very sweet, and very reasonable for France!

carciofi · 20/09/2011 10:29

Red, I usually check Retail me not before I order anything.

Frances, gorgeous gorgeous shoes.

Ollie, I saw that coat in a magazine, it is really lovely. I mostly wear knee-high boots in the winter. I think knee-length would be fine.

Amber and Wan, I also love Hush.

NY, I like all the stuff you are keeping.

I found black hunters on some gardening website, seemed reasonable so have ordered.

Fritzi, thanks for posting the link to that website (though my dh won't thank you!). I told him yesterday that French clothes are really the only ones that fit DD2 properly. He was Hmm. That is the excuse my mother used to use to my dad when buying our clothes. It doesn't work with DH. No way, José.

DD1 starts preschool tomorrow, yay! She is very excited.

carciofi · 20/09/2011 10:57

Sorry Bloss, forgot to say, hope your dd gets well soon.

VerityBrulee · 20/09/2011 11:02

Bloss cake sounds great, ds will love it. Are you going to put the Leinster players on it? Wink

Fritzi what a lovely site! I need to stop buying for dd, her wardrobe is much more extensive than mine. These metallic boots arrived today and are lovely.

Ollie I agree with Fritzi, ditch the black coat. I had a black down coat which was toasty but made me look ill, I ebayed it and replaced it with a pale gold metallic one from Lands End of all places. It's like those light reflecting foundations, reflects a golden glow on my pale complexion!

Pickled I love the sound of a conker heart, great idea!

I love, love, love my red baxters. Instantly cheering. Great blog too.

Annie I am going to check out you links now, you have been busy!

VerityBrulee · 20/09/2011 11:04

WAN meant to say, hope you are feeling better today. Make sure you spend the week resting and not tidying or cooking

MarshaBrady · 20/09/2011 11:11

Have ordered these Tory Burch ankle boots.

They are probably too high. And what I have a lot of is ankle boots. Still they could be good with an autumn skirt.

JCrew belt is already winging its way so will think about whether to keep later.

WAN hope you are feeling better too. Agree re black Verity. Black knit I can just about do, but am trying to avoid buying new black stuff.

notyummy · 20/09/2011 11:14

Love that vouchers website Carciofi!

Also that french children's site is lovely Fritzi - I clicked on it expecting to have a heart attack at the prices but was pleasantly surprised (am very tight with DD's clothes Blush. Apart from shoes, obviously.) DH is also with Carciofi's other half re DDs clothes so even if I was keen to splurge he would be horrified. He is fine with me spending/weekend away etc, but is Mr Parsimonious re DDs clothes (he also likes to help choose them so I cant really sneak under radar....) I do understand his point....she DOES grow out of them and she is an only, so no value from hand-me-downs. To be fair, he is v good at all the long term savings for her future and he reckons she will prefer to have deposit for house/all uni fees paid/car etc rather than additional clothes now. He's probably right I suppose......

Love those grey boots for your DD Annie. I need to get DD something for winter, as she only has school shoes, sandals, trainers and wellies at the moment!! I quite look the look of these as well. They have a pair of raspberry patent boots on their site, and I am hoping they are not in store as DD will be instantly smitten.....but they will scuff and dull instantly and spend the winter looking tatty I suspect!

I suspect you are right Annie. Last year they had a great pair of deep purple furry lined boots that kept us ALL happy, but nothing similar this year. Think we will just have to pop into the shop in the next couple of weeks and give her 2/3 to choose from.

redllamayellowllama · 20/09/2011 12:46

Thanks Fritzi, a little niche perhaps Wink, but I find her writing style very amusing.

Aah, your secrets are revealed Carciofi - great website.

I pretty much get all the kids stuff, but tend to do it fairly frugally; charity shops, eBay, H&M, occasionally Gap when 30% off etc, bar shoes, for which there seems to be no limit Blush. we seem to get lots of lovely clothes gifts (maybe people are trying to tell us something?!) - DD was given the most gorgeous red duffle for her birthday and my Step-Dad bought out the entire Frugi range for her.

Ollie, I'm inclined to agree when it comes to ditching the black coat. It's the most seen item you will own come winter.

Hope DD gets better soon Bloss.

Last night saw me in my yellow, hippo-covered Primark pregnancy PJs Amber. Stylish loungewear on the Christmas list this end.

MarshaBrady · 20/09/2011 13:06

Anniemac I think anything goes on a school trip. Well it certainly does on ours. But ds' school attracts a particular type.

So I think as long as you will be comfortable for the whole day then wear what you like. So you can be warm and your feet don't hurt, that type of thing.
