School reunion last night was a blast! So lovely to see so many familiar faces in one room. Drank and chatted until 2:30 and my outfit was spot on, phew. Smile

notyummy DD asked me the same thing the other day over breakfast. She had asked before and now wanted some more details. Think my answers were ok, although she looked at me in a you-must-be-kidding-me kind of way.

annie Clothes swapping would be fab although I don't exactly live round the corner. How are your DDs doing? Hope the three of you have a good weekend. Impressive shopping!

blossoming · 17/09/2011 20:39

Just reading about the Mulberry Carter bag in the Times. Looks very nice.

Glad the reunion went well fritzi. I'm sure you looked fabulous.

I got the silver Kew skirt!!!!!! Lovely, lovely, lovely! Also got the grey cardi with the shawl collar which were new in. Oh yes and a lovely steel grey silk top from mint velvet which may do for my 40th do and some patent grey ballet pumps from john lewis! Phew! Had another great day pottering round the shops. My friend loves shopping as much as i do and splurged too. Lots of shopping bags swinging from arms!

Sorry for the 'look what i brought posts! Hope all is well in W&A land. Normal service will resume tomorrow!

Ambernj1 · 17/09/2011 22:25

Sounds like you are having a fab time ollie - great that you have found so many lovely buys, please link your MV top, am looking for something silky!

Had a lovely, lazy day today, highlight of which was winning £40 on a scratchcard at the supermarket (classy, I know!)

Wore cream/plum Breton, Marthas, my beloved Aldo biker boots and a leopard print scarf I stole inherited from my mum. DD proved she has inherited her mothers thighs in polka dot leggings, they are a lot cuter on her though...

pickledsiblings · 18/09/2011 10:10

Good morning All Smile.

Amber, you made me laugh with your quip about DD inheriting her mother's thighs. My DD is 10 and at the moment she is all legs.

Fritzi, glad the outfit proved to be the right choice and that you had a great time. Have you decided on what you are wearing to the MU?

Got the Hush catalogue in the post and there are many lovely items. Thought of you Marsha when I saw this chunky scarf. It could be a good, practical everyday alternative until you knit (or crochet?) your own lush one. It comes in grey marl too Bloss, I know how much you love your grey.

AntPants1 · 18/09/2011 11:43

Just popping in to say well done fritzi!! Glad reunion went well. Have mine in two weeks.

FritziGreenEyes · 18/09/2011 13:07

ants Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did!

At inlaws' house, have consumed a gazillion calories already and there is still the traditional "Kaffee und Kuchen" at three o'clock Shock.

pickled No idea what I am going to wear for MU. Might go for trousers actually.

ollie Lovely purchases!!! Skirt is gorgeous!

MarshaBrady · 18/09/2011 15:21

Impressive conker count Pickled! Lovely scarf. The knitted one is spot-holding until the price of the Stella McCartney one is more realistic. I am nearly done! Quite a slow and uneconomical way to make a scarf. Although am secretly quite pleased with it. Have a cute idea for a jumper for ds now, but I am impatient.

Saw Coco Chanel movie the other day. Audrey Tautou was great in it, not ditzy which was nice. Not sure if the catwalk show at the end was based on her original designs but quite incredible how little it has changed, plus how modern her clothing looked.

Silver skirt sounds great Ollie, good luck for reunion Ants. Pleased yours was fabulous Fritzi.

notyummy · 18/09/2011 17:38

Hope you all have had great weekends. Are you up to

a billion calories yet Fritzi?!

Just ordered some stuff from Very that looks great in the pictures. Will report back when it arrives- it tends to be either cheap looking and nothing like the picture or bargainous and flattering. I have ordered quite a bit so realistically I am hoping some falls into the first group!!

Had a great run in the sunshine this morning, and then dd and I went on our first ever mother/ daughter bike ride. She is now confident without stabilisers so we did a little five mile loop, stopping off at a farm shop and cafe for lunch where she ended up chatting to an elderly couple who re-appeared 5 mins later with an enormous brand new teddy that they had just bought from a car boot for their granddaughter, but realised that she was too old for it. Dd was delighted and overwhelmed- I had to try and fit it in my ruck sack for the ride home Hmm.

Now realised just how much hosting work I have let myself in for next week, with three sets of people on three different days. Only really looking toward to 2 out of 3 tbh, as one visit arranged by DH as he is work colleague. I font know them that well and find them slightly hard work. It is only lunch though, so only a couple of hours, right? I am only doing roast chicken as they only eat 'plain' food. I am trying not to be Hmm about that and see it as a positive because I only need to do simple things.

FritziGreenEyes · 18/09/2011 19:50

Back home now and sipping mint tea to calm my stomach. Will check out links now Smile

OllieinOrange · 18/09/2011 20:24

Home and unpacked - and now suffering from buyers remorse! I do seem to have rather had a splurge (which includes a Kindle and a pink cover at the airport! Shock).

This is the grey Mint Velvet top - has lovely button detailing on the shoulder
here.

I also brought some great skinny jeans from Kew 159 (who knew?) - in fact my friend and I were in there for well over an hour and the service was great. Friend had never been in and got some great buys including the belted knit dress in navy (v flattering on her) and this amazing orange scarf here. Tried the grey boots on which were lovely but just too high for everyday for me. Am really chuffed with my skirt, the grey Banana Republic scarf (with a cream fish print on it) with the grey patent pumps from JL. Wont bore you with all the links tho.

Hope DH likes his cufflinks - asked the male sales assitant for advice and he whipped his jacket off and started modelling all the ones I'd been looking at - v funny! (And he let me take a pic of me holding the 'bag' which they are not supposed to do!)

Am now a big fan of Westfield, Snog frozen youghurt (sooo good) and the Gourmet Burger Company (yesterdays lunch!)

Back to reality now tho - DS1 v pleased to see me when I walked in (ran down the stairs, whooping, jumped up for a cuddle etc) whilst DS2 stood at the top of the stairs, said "hi Mum" and then went back to play with his lego! DH's reaction was somewhere between the two!

Hope everyone has a lovely week.

Gillybobs · 18/09/2011 20:40

De-lurking to say Ollie I have that MV top in the oyster colour and its one of the most useful (and lovely) tops Ive bought in a long time. Great choice

OllieinOrange · 18/09/2011 20:44

Hi Gillybobs - thats good to hear! I tried it on in the oyster colour too and at one point was thinking about getting both but my depleated bank balance rational side won!

VerityBrulee · 18/09/2011 20:50

Great purchases Ollie, sounds like a great weekend and everything you bought is lovely Smile

Fritzi so pleased you enjoyed the reunion. Kaffee und Kuchen reminds me of The Chalet School.

Last week was a wash out - my cold led to a chest infection and the ABs made me sick, so I have serious cabin fever and need to get to the shops!

Does anyone else have the Spooks/ Downton Abbey quandry? We can't decide which to watch, which to record Confused Honestly, you wait months for something decent to watch on tv and they all come along at once!

notyummy · 18/09/2011 20:59

Verity- stick Downton on the Sky Plus so you can ff through the ads!

Loving your work Ollie!

ApuskiDusky · 18/09/2011 21:45

Hello everyone!

blossoming · 18/09/2011 22:01

apuski, that sounds really exciting. New beginnings for lots of us!

Gorgeous top ollie and gillybobs. I haven't tried any MV yet.

Hope you feel better soon verity. Sure you're all thrilled with yesterday's result. Couldn't find dh this morning when I came down to watch the final 5 mins of Wales v Samoa. He was hiding in the utility, folding washing because it was so tense at the end!

I have been preparing for next week since this afternoon. MiL came for lunch. She can come again if it means I can work while she entertains. Can't believe I just said that. Maybe I'm mellowing towards her in my old age!

Blossom I've seen MV take a bit of stick on MN but I find it fills a sartorial gap between Topshop and Wallis iyswim? Everything Ive bought has been well made and well used!

Good Morning All.

ollie your trip sounds like good fun. Some great shopping, and I love that MV top. Would look good with some cigarette pants.

VB sorry you have been so ill, hope you are on the mend soon though.

Nice work with the MIL Bloss! H ope you have another good week at work.

Glad to hear things are going so well and you are in such demand apuski, having work closer to home will be a great advantage. It's my commute that's the most stressful part of my job at times.

Fritzi glad the reunion went well, I bet you looked fab.

I have taken the day off today to see the GP. I have been having blinding headaches for a while, woke up with a shocker this morning. Think I just need a rest, although I feel as guilty as hell doing it. Why do we do this to ourselves though?

We had a nice weekend though, family day out to Littlehampton on the sussex coast with a fish and chip (and mushy pea) lunch and then down to Southampton for a birthday party yesterday afternoon. Maternity Baxters fitted the bill. Icecream I know you had difficulty getting them in store, if its any help they are true to size on the waist and just hit the bottom of my heel and I'm 5'4. Maybe you could order on line?

OllieinOrange · 19/09/2011 08:45

Some lovely, lovely Emmy dresses to peruse this morning

here

I loved Lea Michelle's red dress - and Sofia Vergera's.

So pleased Modern Family did so well - one of my favourite shows.

WAN hope the Dr can help with your headaches. Take special care of yourself.
Bloss thats v funny about your DH folding washing!

Must make a start on my homework. Am in a bit of a post-trip grump!

notyummy · 19/09/2011 09:10

I was just about to link to the dress porn, but Olllie got there first! TBH, I am not keen on a lot of them. I think Julie Bowen (half way down the page - have never heard of her) looks great, and the Charlies Angels cast (who once again I have never heard of) also look amazing. I really don't like Heidi Klum's dress. What was she thinking.

Hope the grump passes soon!

In office in leopard maxi, plain black tee, wooden heels (again...) and black linen blazer.

Great to hear from you Apuski - I saw your new job on my Linkin In update and was most impressed, although it sounds like something even more ideal is in the offing!

Hope the headaches get better soon WAN and the GP can help. I also suffer from them occasionally and I think it is all linked to hormones, stress and sleep/lack of it. Most of the time I can soldier on, but sometimes they develop into full blown migraines and it is utter misery.
