Time for a new thread.....

OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 20/07/2011 13:11

marsha Shorts and belt look gorgeous!

annie So lovely that you have saved a vintage dress from your Mum. You will look great.

I won't bore you with my drab outfit today. My feet are soaked from running around in ballet flats despite the rain. Is anyone having sun today???

Our DHL man told me today that two of our neighbours refuse to accept any deliveries for us. I knew they didn't like us but I feel strangely sad about this. Maybe I'm just not in a very happy place right now. One of my closest friends had a miscarriage yesterday. The fourth in five years Sad. She is putting a brave face on but it is heartbreaking. The doctor's nonchalant attitude makes me just so angry. She was told that it is just bad luck and to get on with life.

wideawakenurse · 20/07/2011 14:22

Fritzi, I am drab too today. Not a drop of sunshine. So sorry to hear about your friend, it must be heartbreaking. Very mean of your neighbours not to take in parcels. Although, could you trust them if they did?

marsha the shorts and great and the colour of the belt is beautiful. So much so, that it will part of an outfit rather than just serving the purpose of a belt.

Carciofi. That whistles belt is called Arlette. It comes in cream and turquoise too.

We have made an appointment for a viewing on Saturday. Looks like our dream home, but top of the budget and needs work doing. I think it will be good to see it and start to make some decisions on what really are our priorities. I always thought it was just about more space, but the more I think about it, it needs a bit of curve appeal too.

blossoming · 20/07/2011 15:16

Oh fritzi that is so sad for your friend. Sorry you're having a hard time right now.
I feel much better today. Last night I was ready for the hard stuff at 7 pm and told DH I felt like I'd been in prison all day. Luckily, I decided to do a quick shred, felt much better, and didn't need any alcohol after all. (More for tonight, well it is Wednesday!)
Have fallen back in love with Emanuelle Alt again after seeing her in Times Style. I am looking forward to new skinny jeans in September too. Will anyone else be around London sometime then?
carciofi, I'm finding my Agnes very resilient to wee! Dd is such a little madam right now. My mum's taken her out. Everyone on best behaviour because the sun is shining (are we the only place on the thread?) DS has a friend over, and he is really showing off. I don't want to tell him off in front of his friend but I am very close to putting him on the step Wink.
Better go..

kalitixi · 20/07/2011 15:16

WAN I'm going to call COS - in the meantime I've asked ordered friends all over the country near a COS to go look immediately!

NY I like the idea of dark green and navy ...

annie I think I might need the Stella as well as the top (and hermes cuff) to make this look work ... Wink
Your olive green shirt sounds rather amazing ...

Marsha I'm still waiting for the boots ... hope you have fun with your brother (very lovely belt btw)

FritziGreenEyes · 20/07/2011 15:38

kalitixi Checked COS on my trip to town at lunchtime gut didn't see your top.

bloss Have already shredded this morning. Wouldn't know what my mood would be like without it. I have also downloaded Jillian podcast as I find her really motivating. Next thing you know I'll be creating a mood-board Wink

wan How exciting. Maybe this house will be "the one"!

OllieinOrange · 20/07/2011 18:22

Holiday has derailed somewhat, car has developed huge eletrical faults as water has leaked into system ( tells u something about the amount of rain we have had!) DH had to spend all afternoon at a garage getting it fixed (thankfully he speaks fluent french) but they could only temporarily fix it so fingers crossed its ok for long drive home! I stayed home with boys as weather terrible but we played great game of hide and seek and lots of lego!

I perused the new Next a/w stuff and am quite taken with a oatmeal stripey sequin jumper that looks great on the front page showing the diff sections (look at the pic for jeans) but not so good in its actual picture in casualwear. DH looked at it and thinks rain has got into my system too! (i wont mention the navy jumper with a pink heart outline i also liked!!!!)

Fritzi, really sorry to read about your friend, how sad for her. Can understand how its affected your state of mind today. Big hugs to you.
Annie, am loving the sound of your wedding outfit find, how lovely.

Still no french purchases unless you count cheese and more pain au chocolate that is beyond normal!

OP posts:
redllamayellowllama · 20/07/2011 18:31

I hope you love it Annie - I think Fritzi very right in that it hadn't been styles particularly well in the JL pic.

Sorry to hear about your neighbours Fritzi; really mean and unnecessary. What a heart-breaking position your friend is in.

Exciting on the house-front WAN - fingers crossed.

So, predictably, I'm tempted to jump on the Agnes bandwagon. Agnes lovers how true to size are they really, with give and stretch factored in? Do you think they could be worn at all during the winter?

Have had a bit of a sad day at DS' last Monkey Music class (has been going with the same group from 3 months and loves it beyond measure) and his nursery graduation ceremony (I know, I know). He was around all these people who adore him and I just thought, 'Why are we moving?' I know I'm meant to have last-minute wobbles, but am struggling a bit. DH being very unhelpful (v unusual for him, but he's exhausted in the last week of term, I guess) in the classic 'I can't fix your problems, so I shan't enter into a dialogue on them' and keeps going on about NLP.

Hi kalitixi - can offer no help, but wanted to say hi!

NY hope meetings went well - did you come up with a fromage frais solution?

carciofi · 20/07/2011 18:42

Fritzi, your neighbours are idiots! So sorry about your friend.

Thanks Wan, I will get me to a Whistles store soon! Do you remember how much the belt costs? Good luck with the viewing.

Cool belt, Marsha.

NY, I saw those maxis, very nice.

Red, it is sad saying goodbye. We have moved so many times (and countries). You could definitely wear Agnes in the winter. Mine hit about 3" about my ankles but I am 5'9. I've already booked DD2 in for Monkey Music. DD1 loved it.

Bloss, I will be here in September!

I went into Question Air today, tried on red J Brands and ordered them from Shopbop (about £60 cheaper). Also tried on Goldsign Misfits and they are next on my wishlist. They really are slimming.

Weather is grey here too. So I need red jeans. Wink

Ambernj1 · 20/07/2011 19:19

Hello all

Finally feeling human(ish) again after the baby's arrival!

congrats wan and IceCreamCastles on your fantastic news - must say while hard work it is lovely to have a newborn in the house again, so cute and cuddly!

Braved Westfield today with the littl'un. Came away with a pair of Earharts from Donna Ida - so comfy! Also will be handy as I have been wearing my Agnes to death...

Already desperately hankering after high necked tops as everything has to be bf friendly at the moment.

carciofi · 20/07/2011 19:30

Hi Amber, glad you are doing well. My baby is 5 weeks old now, it's flying by!

blossoming · 20/07/2011 19:46

I am hiding again. Mil visit. They have gone to see the gravestone, her and dh.

DS had a lovely playdate, then when I took him home, the friend's mother asked DS back to play next week, and then he started crying! He is so scared of the unknown. Couldn't believe it.

Must be very hard for you red. Change is hard.

Good shopping carciofi. I fancy a whizz round HN next week. I really need white sunglasses!

Sorry to hear of pregnancy fatigue. There is nothing like it is there?

Hope things continue to go well for you ambernj. I am impressed with your avidity.

And Hi to kalixiti. Are you new? Or have you namechanged?

pickledsiblings · 20/07/2011 20:10

Great to hear you are feeling well Amber. I would have loved to have had MN when my DC were little and it seemed like I was bfing non-stop. In it's absence, I am ashamed to say, I watched...Eastenders ... and... it gets worse...Coronation Street BlushGrin.

Annie, you will post a photo of you in your lovely wedding outfit, won't you? So nice that you are 'close' to your family and lovely for your DD to be part of it.

Marsha, glad you had a nice time with your brother and at your parties; nothing like a good party to get one spending again Wink.

Fritzi, I can't remember your family situation, do you have relatives/ILs near?
So sorry to hear about your friend, it really is heartbreaking isn't it.

I can't be doing with the Boden lack of free returns. My hit rate is fairly low as you can imagine so it's really prohibitive. Does it cost a lot to post clothes?

Red, I went one size down from TS sizes for my Agnes. I love love love them and sometimes pop my Penelope Chilvers clog boots over the top of them. Not quite sure how that would work for you lot with the long legs and expanse of zip (mine is bunched up around my ankles Smile).

(Ollie, what a lovely place you are staying in, might check that out next Summer)

pickledsiblings · 20/07/2011 20:12

[oops, rogue apostrophe in its, sorry]

AntPants1 · 20/07/2011 20:15

Welcome back Amber. I can totally emphasise about getting bored with BF friendly outfits. Still it does mean that you have a great excuse to get lots of lovely scarfs. I got a whole range to help me preserve my modesty!!

red I feel for you. Change is always unsettling. IT WILL BE GOOD though....

Welcome kalitixi sorry cannot help with top. Frustrating when that happens.

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/07/2011 21:08

Oh Fritzi - your evil neighbours! What is their problem! Although I do wonder about people - ours came round to ask about replacing fence as they're getting a dog and she muttered about some of our shrubs blocking their view. If I was her I'd be more concerned about the extension we may do which will really block her view Wink Well we won't because we're nice but we could do easily do so . . . And you're poor friend Sad

Amber - oh the bf friendly outfits - such fun! Think LTEC, Marsha and I were also bf for a long time at the same time - must say with dc3 I was much braver and as Ants said - I had a lot of scarves.

Agnes are huge - I should have gone down 2 sizes really but they're good for fat/post holiday days.

Have a nap further reductions order on its way - some underwear and a metallic joseph cardigan.

Carciofi - i want some skinny misfits and keep checking on revolve for some.

notyummy · 20/07/2011 21:12

Sorry to hear about your friend Fritzi - and also about your neighbours. How rude - it's really not hard to do someone a favour like that is it?

IceCreamCastles · 20/07/2011 21:12

Pickled- I'm with you in hating paying for returns but even more annoying is the fact that I now have to wait in from 9 til 1 on Friday for the dhl man ( or woman) to pick up the remains of my NAP order. Don't they know we go to the playground then?!

Good to see you back Amber. Impressed with your dedication to the shopping cause! I'm not really looking forward to the baby stage again- far and away the hardest bit for me so far. Gulp.

Fritzi- I genuinely can't understand why your neighbours wouldn't like you Confused you're lovely! So sorry for your friend-she must be devastated.

Ollie- your holiday looks amazing. They'll have a w&a influx next year Grin

Who mentioned a sept meet up? I'd be up for that. Get your light meter out marsha

Anyone heard from really grumpy? her baby must be due any day?

wan sympathies on the tiredness and the EAs. We've had some goodish news about ours today- the couple that viewed at the weekend have put their house on the Market with our EA with the express intention of buying ours. Obv can't do much until theirs is sold but at least things are moving in the right direction.

Dress sounds beautiful Annie I hope we get to see photos.

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/07/2011 21:22

Oh icecream - the newborn stage with ds2 was one of the loveliest stages of my life Smile So much easier than with ds1.

And fingers crossed re house - have you found one you want to buy yet?

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/07/2011 21:24

Oh lordy - hope that didn't sound smug. Just that ds1 had reflux so was a very hard work baby where as ds2 was just so easy. And then there was DD Wink

IceCreamCastles · 20/07/2011 21:44

Oh no, not smug- good to know they can be so different. Dd had reflux too-very hard work.

Yes, we've seen a house we like but they don't want any offers until ours is sold- and so the chain continues!

pickledsiblings · 20/07/2011 21:50

I've totally loved the newborn phase, lots of hanging around in bed being waited on hand and foot.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the meet up next week. It would have been lovely to meet with DC but will be even lovelier without - I'm so up for a September meet up, light meters at the ready Smile.

VerityBrulee · 20/07/2011 21:56

Fritzi what horrible neighbours, poor you. It is their problem and definately not yours. We have an awful next-door neighbour, there is something indescribably horrible (almost witchy!) about her. I'm glad the postman has never left a parcel with her, as I would always associate the contents of the parcel with the neighbour so it would have to go straight back!! So sorry for your poor friend too Sad

Ollie sympathies on the bad weather, hope the car gets you back home!

Annie I was going to suggest thermals and waterproofs for a west of Ireland wedding, but your outfit sounds much more appropriate Grin

Bloss poor ds, hopefully he'll be more relaxed about going by next week.

I had a bit of luck at the sales Smile I got a navy, sort of textured cotton, double breasted coat, very slightly A line a bit above the knee. Totally up my street and 80% off, also a pretty floral chiffon dress that I spotted back in March, both in Massimo Dutti. Everything else that I liked was new season stuff. I am definately going back to Whistles, for the pink and red stripe top looks amazing in RL, fantastic on a grey day! Also there was a fab navy jumpsuit with crossover straps, amazing on someone tall and tanned - not me so!

VerityBrulee · 20/07/2011 22:01

I had the pleasure of buying a newborn outfit today, those little clothes are so cute I have often thought of retraining to do a job where I could spend time with tiny babies, baby massage or something similar. What a lovely way to spend your day, cooing over newborns Smile

kalitixi · 20/07/2011 22:31

Fritzi that's very sweet of you - I'm getting more and more determined to find this or I might have to learn to design and sew and make it myself. I hope your day has improved?

Blossoming I am new (my name is good luck in greek - kali tixi) and quite a late developer technologically due to real life shyness I think - cleverly avoiding social networks - so I'm dipping my toe in now (and it's taking me hours to post, hopefully this gets quicker or I miss all of the new posts). I'm also about to start the Shred, once I stop procrastinating (currently taking days to choose new trainers ...).

Red, Ants - hello back!

Aside from a cos top, stella bag, hermes cuff shaped space, I also have a cashmere animal print space in my wardrobe. What colour animal print scarf have you all found most useful?

I was thinking the traditional brown leopard print looks quite hepburn, but then I thought baby blue or grey might work better?

AntPants1 · 20/07/2011 22:40

kalitixi have a look in lily and Lionel for great animal print scarves
