Time for a new thread.....

OP posts:
ReineDeSaba · 18/07/2011 19:31

mrscb i'm so Real Housewives I thought your top was a dress until everyone else enlightened me.

Hi carciofi Smile I really like the sound of plum j brands too.
Awful about the attempted abductions.

WAN annoying not to find more you love when you've got you shop on but scarf sounds great.

red the tuxedo outfit sounds fabulous.

wideawakenurse · 18/07/2011 19:56

Carciofi that top is very pretty. I saw the dress version today, is lovely. Very frightening about attempts abductions.

I did try on lots of things today, despite knowing I wouldn't buy them. I tried on the stripy Whistles dress, with the red snakeskin belt, a la red. Also the fushia jeans, which I love and am pleading with someone to buy them here.Grin

Whistles also have a lovely red pony skin belt at the moment, would look great indigo jeans.

Fleecy · 18/07/2011 20:00

Ooh I have some bottle green Zara skinnies which might carry on through until winter then - plum ones do sound tempting. Lovely with cream silk blouse.

You look fab red - glad everything went so well. I also have a DKNY cozy and only got it a little while ago but have worn it loads. I remember someone saying they didn't get on with theirs because there was just too much fabric but I've found it a versatile cover up over dresses/jeans and tank/shorts etc. If you look at the DKNY site they have some tutorial videos.

FritziGreenEyes · 18/07/2011 20:05

red Thanks for sharing your pic. You all look lovely and happy! Sending you strength for packing.

carciofi Dreadful about abduction attempts Shock.

reine I often find myself thinking "Oh I have to tell bloss/mrscb/ollie about this or that" Smile.

annie If the wedding is casual, tux trousers and those fab Choos of yours would look fantastic!

pickled Have fun at the cinema. For us it will be Cars 2 too Hmm.

bloss Maybe you could just use one of your DH's vests as a beach cover up Wink. Love your enthusiasm about your new job!

wan Just think of all the money you have saved today and can spend on autumn/winter stuff.

dolcee Your house will be gorgeous! When we did our renovation I left all the boring technical details to DH and only got involved in the fun parts.

notyummy Is DD tucked up in bed after beach day at school today? It is so cold here too. I am wearing cashmere cardi-coat over long sleeve T

AntPants1 · 18/07/2011 20:06

Hello all. Glad wedding went well red can I see the photos?

Had a very quick look an LK Bennet and Reiss at lunchtime. They are starting to get new stuff in. But alas not on their websites yet. Probably a good thing as they have gorgeous stuff coming in. Reiss has a lovely biker jacket. I think petit was on the lookout for one. Really soft leather.... And LK have a lovely black and White wrap dress....

petitdonkey · 18/07/2011 21:37

Oooh ants, thanks so much for remembering. It looks like Isabella Oliver might be doing theirs in black for winter but I saw the reiss taupe one earlier this year and it was gorgeous.
WAN - fuchsia jeans sound good, I haven't seen your link before, can you link again please?

wideawakenurse · 18/07/2011 22:07

petit. They are here

They are much nicer in RL, look great with gold ballet flats and black blazer.

blossoming · 18/07/2011 22:19

Thank you fritzi. I will be having all sorts of nightmares involving turning up to next meet up in one of dh's greying vests now!

I suddenly fancy some white rimmed sunglasses, like the Chanel ones in the ad at the back of inStyle this month. Hmm..

petitdonkey · 18/07/2011 22:19

Like them Wan - have you got some? I'm actually very tempted to order them as I've been eyeing up coloured jeans. It has just hit me that the children are off school now so there will be no more shopping for me until September Shock (in store that it, not online!!)

bloss Of course I was thinking of crisp white Don Draper-style vests only! Wink. White rimmed Chanel sunglasses would look great on you!

annie Love both M.Birger tops, especially the batwing blouse.

wideawakenurse · 19/07/2011 08:20

Good morning.

Annie I think that DVF dress is a great shape, I think it would be an investment buy.

petit, no I don't have the jeans, as I only discovered them after finding out I am pregnant. I have tried them on thoughSmile. They are mid rise, making them very comfortable.

I am in jeans and a White scoop t shirt today, brighten up by my new scarf. Estate Agent is due here at 09.00, why is the house only tidy when I am the only one on it!

notyummy · 19/07/2011 08:45

Love those links Annie.

Hope all the pregnant ladies are feeling fit and well and not 'bleurgh' at the early stages as I know it can be rough. I was very lucky in that I didn't know I was pregnant for the first 10 weeks (hard to believe, I know, but I had a copper coil fitted and thought I was invincible - I put the lack of period down to jet lag from the honey moon Blush) Perhaps because I didn't know, I didn't appear to have any symptoms. No tiredness/nausea etc (Although I was soooooo guilty when I realised how much I had been drinking....And the fact that I had done my deep water scuba diving qualification and ran up Table Mountain. Both not ideal early pregnancy activities.)

Trying to do some weekend wardrobe planning for camping in the British 'summer'. Would like to think little shorts and vest tops, but fear jeans and jumpers are more likely to be suitable. I don't actually own wellies, but have big black boots from when I was in the forces that have a neoprene lining and are v waterproof. They actually look quite good worn with skinnies in a kind of 'festival' look. I will base the rest of my wardobe around this idea, and take my fitflops with me in case a ray of sunshine breaks through. I can always wear them in the shower otherwise....

blossoming · 19/07/2011 09:08

Wise words notyummy. I am contemplating putting the heating on! The festival look is the way to go. (Not bare legs though. Leggings or skinnies and big woolly socks!)

Just read an interesting article in Glamour magazine about 'real' bodies, and photos of real women in their bikinis in public in London. I might reconsider, and take mine on holiday after all.

I'm afraid I am hiding taking 5 minutes, thinking how on earth I'm going to fill the day, although it seems that DS has finally discovered his Lego, and has created some himself, instead of sitting there watching DH doing them for him!

Roll on Saturday, off to Chester.

ApuskiDusky · 19/07/2011 09:31

Morning!

Annie, I do like that DVF dress - if I had a job yet I might be tempted!

I'm wondering whether coloured jeans might be a good autumn basic - I need some 'on trend' (lol) casual trousers but Agnes is out for me because I don't want cropped. Fuschia won't work for me though. Coloured jeans do remind me of being a student in the early '90s amongst the posh kids at uni in their coloured jeans smoking marlborough lights though!

Good luck with the EA WAN!

NY, I keep checking the forecast for this weekend to see if we should go for our first camping expedition too - my amazon basket is full of extra bits of kit, just got to decide what the baby can sleep in before purchasing.

At the risk of turning this into Property/DIY, I'd appreciate some opinions - a house has just come on for rent in our preferred area (the first in the 6 months or so I've been keeping an eye out) - but its a dormer bungalow, so two bedrooms are upstairs, with one downstairs, not directly below. So either the boys have to share so we can all be upstairs or we go downstairs so the boys have a room each. But I am a bit of a stress-head about them being close to me when sleeping - ds2 is still in with us at 1yo because I don't want to put either him or ds1 in the bedoom at the far end of the house. Oh, and the only bathroom upstairs is an ensuite to one bedroom.

Any experience of multi-floor sleeping or young dc's sharing? WWYD?

notyummy · 19/07/2011 09:40

Hmm, sounds less than ideal Apuski however I can quite appreciate if you want a certain area and there are not many available options then you have to take a look. Are the bedrooms big enough for them to share? I have friends who have Ds's sharing and it works well, but they started them off quite young (probably the age your DS2 is now - perhaps younger.) I would be slightly Hmm about the ensuite being the only bathroom upstairs as it would mean DC blundering through my bedroom and waking me during early morning toilet trips. However if you are not going to be in the rented house for long that may not be an issue (can't remember what age your DS1 is and whether that will be a possibility for him.) DD has been taking herself to the toliet in the night/early morning since she was about 2 years.

ApuskiDusky · 19/07/2011 09:53

Thanks NY, ds1 is 3, almost 4, and does take himself to the toilet at night on his own, so if we were upstairs he wouldn't be able to help himself talking to us if he was coming into our room to go to the toilet at night. We'd be in the rented house for at least a year (need to specify that in the contract to avoid being given notice just as we are applying for schools).

The sensible thing would be that ds1 gets the room with ensuite, and ds2 is in the other, and then we are downstairs, as the main bathroom is next door to that room. And I assume as it's rented, all the fire regs will be addressed. But I don't know if I can get over being on a different floor.

carciofi · 19/07/2011 09:55

Apuski, the baby will be in our room for a while yet but will have to share with DD1 when she is 6 months old. My niece and nephew have shared a room since they were 2 years old and 3 months respectively and my brother said that they have never woken each other up. I wouldn't like my DDs on a different floor while they are so little but I suppose I am downstairs in the evening for a good few hours while they are upstairs. Do you have a good monitor?

Bloss, I have arranged lots of playdates for DD1. Roll on September!

Agnes trousers arrived, I like them and they fit well now but hope they don't stretch too much.

WAN, I like the sound of the red belt but don't see it on the Whistles website.

Annie, I think My-wardrobe have that pale pink By Malene Birger blouse and they have an extra 20% off right now.

NY, skinny jeans and boots sound like a good option in this weather!

Is summer over? I am getting good wear out of my Barbour at the moment.

carciofi · 19/07/2011 09:57

My baby has started smiling! Just fleeting smiles but definitely not wind and she smiles most of all at DD1. :)

notyummy · 19/07/2011 10:00

Oh how cute! Dh got some GREAT pics of DDs first smiles. You must try and get and a pic of one and post on FB s we can all get broody over her Smile,

ApuskiDusky · 19/07/2011 10:14

Oh first smiles! Lovely.

pickledsiblings · 19/07/2011 10:20

carciofi Smile

MarshaBrady · 19/07/2011 10:21

Awwww Carciofi how lovely.

blossoming · 19/07/2011 11:12

How gorgeous carciofi!
DS is having a friend over tomorrow. That still leaves dd though. DS's friend will not be pleased if she tries to kiss him again.

I fear I may turn into Betty Draper series 2.
