Blimey CV. Grin

What er..field are you in?

CointreauVersial · 25/06/2011 21:38

I work for an electrical engineering company, so it's a very bloke-heavy office (I look after Sales and Marketing). They are a brilliant bunch, but there is a history of bad behaviour at work dos, usually involving the over-consumption of alcohol.

I can't wait for Monday's post mortem. Grin

moondog · 25/06/2011 22:01

God, he will be wincing all w/end.

Nowt so exciting in famale heavy public sector.
Someone might get a little wrought over getting the beef instead of the lamb (hardly surprising given that generally ordered in office 3 mnoths before outing) but that's about it.

Oh to be gloriously inappropriate in a haze of testosterone on expenses!

CointreauVersial · 25/06/2011 22:21

Ohhh, there was testosterone in spades.

Blackduck · 26/06/2011 10:12

Fab day at Greenwich yesterday. Can highly recommend if any of you ladies are near. Lots of fun theatre, games etc. Think it.runs until next Saturday. Now off to folks sans dp and ds. It is very quiet Grin

motherinferior · 26/06/2011 11:13

Well, the sun came out just as the kids disappeared. They had a fab time in the paddling pool though (it has quite deep sides and you can cram in a surprising number of eight year olds). My ears are still ringing Grin

Today I have shortened an old pair of jeans to just above kneelength (turnups to hide the cut edges). DP has suggested I shorten them to mid-thigh. Is this (a) flattering (b) delusional (c) testimony to hopeless optimism?

herbaceous · 26/06/2011 11:15

Well lots of fun was had at the hen do. Delicious food, and lots of gorgeous birds taking their clothes off slowly, otherwise known as burlesque, I believe. I drank a good deal of pink fizzy stuff, but oddly didn't feel drunk. Had to roll my control pants down to my hips as they were preventing my food getting out of my stomach. That wasn't a good look.

Can thoroughly recommend the place - Proud Cabaret, it's called.

Got home at 1am! And DP let me lie in until 9! Unheard of luxury. Now off to a barbeque-cum-2-yo-birthday party for a hair of the dog. And its scorchio!

motherinferior · 26/06/2011 11:20

'Scorchio' is exactly the term that MrsS used, when she texted me to say how fab her holiday is being Envy Grin.

I am rather loving Herbs' crepey take on burlesque. Control Pants Caberet clearly has a future.

Blackduck · 26/06/2011 11:45

Well everyone appears to be having a good weekend!! MI I am not sure on the shorts thing if it were me I would think dp had taken leave of his senses..... (never was a shorts person really) lots of factor 30 people!

herbaceous · 26/06/2011 11:54

My DP never wears shorts either, unless on holiday. Otherwise it's jeans and trainers, no matter how hot. Or, indeed, cold. Madness.

I'm in my £12 Marc Jacobs-alike frock from Sainsbury's today. And bought some anti-chafing gel for my thighs so I can wear it without leggings underneath. The shame.

motherinferior · 26/06/2011 12:08

They're shorts for me Blush.

I want to know about Herbs' frock.

herbaceous · 26/06/2011 12:15

Oh I see! More haste, less speed, reading wise Herbs.

The dress is like this, but slightly more shit, obviously.

motherinferior · 26/06/2011 12:21

Stylish Grin

DD1 has gone off to a friend's party in miniscule red shorts, and a vest top. She looks lovely.

Blackduck · 26/06/2011 16:44

I have just bought a dress from (looks furtively over shoulder) per Una..... It's nice (I think?!) off out for Italian meal (yum) and then diet tomorrow Smile

wilbur · 26/06/2011 22:28

Have had a jolly nice weekend - school fair and friends over for bbq yesterday and gardening and cinema today. Now watching Glasto and wondering if I could come back as Beyonce in my next life. There was impressive drinking going on at the bbq last night (not me so much as I am a lightweight) with many bottles to clear this morning. One friend, who is visiting from Thailand and staying with my mate down the road, was put to bed on her sofa but at some point during the night she got up, went outside, stripped off and put her clothes carefully in one of those potato tubs, thinking it was her laundry basket. Grin

I am off to see my accupuncturist tomorrow, he's a miracle worker, so I'm hoping I will be firing on all cylinders by lunchtime.

CointreauVersial · 27/06/2011 10:51

I'm currently enduring enjoying a lovely morning of school sports day in the sunshine. Creditable performances from DD2, now eagerly anticipating DS1 making a prat of himself in the skipping race.

Blackduck · 28/06/2011 08:23

Well seems like much alcohol and fun was had this weekend. Met up with old college friends yesterday (all at college with friend who died)...I spent half an hour scanning the faces of middle aged women looking for them!! Was weird, becuase whilst we were all greyer and more crepey and all sporting extra midriffs we were the same and after five minutes had fallen back in to the same old patterns of 25 years ago. It was both heartening and sad. My friends husband came and we shared old photos - oh we were bright young things - and stories. I came away thinking what happened to the person I was, well she is still there, but buried under a tonne of rubbish.
Anyway back to the grind today, hope all have recovered from various hangovers, parties etc. Did :) at CVs rolling down of industruial strength underwear!

beachyhead · 28/06/2011 08:49

Hello can I join? I have a dilemma, its swimsuit buying time and I'm stuck...can you ladies help. I am def in the swimsuit, not bikini brigade, 45, quite bumpy, nice boobs and legs, but rotten between! (3 cs belly!). I can't help but notice you have avoided the whole swimsuit thingeeee Smile or have I missed your valuable advice elsewhere.

motherinferior · 28/06/2011 09:44

You could do worse than look at Lands End/Lands End's new Canvas range. They specialise in attractively controlling swimsuits, I think....

motherinferior · 28/06/2011 09:47

not cheap but rather fetching

bigTillyMint · 28/06/2011 10:00

Am sweating like a pig after a trip to the gym - yuk. Will go and shower Blush

Like the swimsuit, but not the priceGrin

wilbur · 28/06/2011 10:44

Beachyhead - I was keen to buy the bikini version of this swimsuit from Figleaves but sadly they don't do it in my pathetic cup size. Really pretty, I think, and I reckon the print would detract from tummy issues and halterneck is always flattering.

Am I right in thinking you had a baby at St. Thomas's around the same time as I had dd? May 2003?

wilbur · 28/06/2011 10:45

BigTillyMint - well done on the gym! I went to keep fit last night, no air conditioning, and sweated so much at one point I looked at my leggings and thought I might have wet myself. Bleeurgh!

bigTillyMint · 28/06/2011 10:53

Wilbur, just clicked on that link - that model is never a D+ cupsize, so how did they find one to fit her? Maybe they sold out of all the smaller sizes?

Yes, they need industrial strength air-con atm! Had it in the gym in the hotel we stayed in at Easter in Egypt - 39 degrees outside and icy-cool in the gym. But obviously can't be done here Smile

Anway, feeling much better after my shower!
