As the last thread is now full...

Is this dress (a) nice (b) horrid (c) suitable for a woman of my advanced years - I suspect this one is a bit muttony...

Would wear it quite ahem tight (the size that fits my bottom not my norks) and unbuttoned (norks)...could also do it with denim jacket/leggings...

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/06/2011 14:17

(b) but I have a button phobia and the thought of it brings me out in hives. Second one is nicer, possibly because buttons are covered. I think, also, not muttony, and would look good unbuttoned - are you considering wearing something underneath it? GrinGrinGrin

OP posts:
motherinferior · 24/06/2011 14:19

I meant, you know, open unbuttoned...

Blackduck · 24/06/2011 14:20

MI - are you feeling suitably guilty ;)
I like both (but not the horrid plasticy looking belt on the first one...), but I am not necessarily a good judge.

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/06/2011 14:28

How would it be closed unbuttoned? Confused [thick]

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 24/06/2011 14:29

I am off to Decathlon to get a cagoule. That is the extent of my style today.

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/06/2011 14:29

And if I wear my shorts, I just know I will bump into Bonsoir!

Well done to Wilbur's dh Grin.

I think I must have done too much crazy shit in my youth because I am now old-ladyish and somewhat risk-averse.

The most exciting thing happening here is that dh just took the bathroom door off and out into the garden to be sanded and painted ("yes, it WILL be back on by Monday") and then his best-paying customer phoned with a job for the weekend.

Woohooooo. Excitement overload.

Blackduck, are you going to the Imperial Car Company for your Bongo?

Stropperella · 24/06/2011 14:36

MI, your dp clearly had PMT.

motherinferior · 24/06/2011 14:38

I meant 'open one extra button in manner that causes DP to tut' unbuttoned.

(I am influenced by having seen Hester looking glam in shirt-waister dress a while ago. But then Hester would look glam in a bin-bag. She and her DP are the sort of killingly gorgeous women that make one want to despair Envy.)

wilbur · 24/06/2011 14:43

MI - I like the first frock better, not so sure about the print on the other one. They are both pretty, I'm impressed with DottyP's stuff. Glad you got some flowers too - hope the birthday catering goes well.

Mrs S - I guess I have to have a prescription for that cream, yes? I have some antibiotic cream I bought in the USA, do you think that's similar?

Dh just emailed me a photo of his bald head - yikes.

Blackduck · 24/06/2011 15:19

Hi Strop - no - we did look at them (kitchens in them posher than in my house!), but decided not to go with them in the end. Going with JAL.

Stropperella · 24/06/2011 16:38

Aha, Blackduck, JAL - I shall investigate. We went and looked at the Imperial Car Company a little while ago and decided they were a little out of our league. dd and ds were all for superglueing themselves into one of the Bongos, they were so keen..

Stropperella · 24/06/2011 16:40

Oooh, but those JAL Bongos look luvverly. Want, want, want.

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/06/2011 17:03

LOL - I am being thick. I had visions of it being undone to the waist...maybe with a cami of some description under it. Grin

I now have my cagoule. Do you think this guarantees that it won't rain on holiday? I have packed everything for me and the girls, except toilet bags. Now have to sort out bedding and towels. And clean bathroom thoroughly and change cat's box. [vom]

Cinders is going to the ball. Well, I'm going out tonight after all. Am off to a "World Music Concert" in which dd is singing. All a bit last-minute as she only decided to give me the permission slip this AM and only found out she had indeed been selected after the final practice with the band doing the workshop this PM. So DH will have to hold the fort and put ds to bed. Hoorah. V. exciting. Is a proper group of musicians from London and everything. (Where is that local yokel emoticon?)

hattymattie · 24/06/2011 18:30

Mrs S - have a great holiday - I'm going to buy a new Dec' cagool because have a bright red one I only seem to wear on holiday in the UK and noticed am wearing it in nearly every single holiday photo from last year. Your daughters sound like mine! By the way actually found jacket that fits at Comptoir des Cotonniers in the soldes so feeling very pleased.

Wilbur loved the extra story although feeling quite relieved that my husband is so boring - or maybe he just hasn't hit his midlife crisis yet!

Stropperella · 24/06/2011 18:50

Yes, MrsS, enjoy your hols!

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/06/2011 21:32
Grin I am desperately in need of hols, I can tell you.
OP posts:
motherinferior · 24/06/2011 21:38

Enjoy Grin

Blackduck · 25/06/2011 09:00

Happy holidays MrsS. Strop- am stupidly excited about choosing flooring and seat covers! (think I need to get out more Grin) JAL guy could bore for England on subject of bongos but apparently knows his stuff. I am off to Greenwich theatre thing today. Ds has just about forgiven us for not turning up at shine week (I was at work and do never reads school letters....) happy weekend all.

motherinferior · 25/06/2011 12:25

I have scored a rather nice linen smocky frock, originally from Jigsaw, in one of our local charity shops for a fiver. I shall shorten it (slightly) and wear it with jeans/leggings. It's part of my attempt to move out of the default jeans/Tshirt option...

DP is filling the deep paddling pool for DD2's birthday party, which is giving me Uncomfortable Flashbacks to 8 years ago yesterday Grin

DukesOfTripHazard · 25/06/2011 12:31

What happened to the sunshine we were promised today? Happy holidays, cagoules, oncerts and birthday parties all.

Grin MI - not the same paddling pool, is it?

Well, my work night out was every bit as drunk and disorderly as expected, culminating in the attempted head-butt of a large bouncer by the normally mild-mannered chap who sits next to me at work. He was promptly sat on and arrested by the police. It was one of those awful escalating scenes where you can see what's going to happen but can't physically drag your mouthy mate away in time.

I got home at 1am and fell asleep on the bed next to DH fully clothed (including jacket and scarf), woke up at 4am to put my PJs on, then again at 6am to dig out my contact lenses (which aren't the sleep-in kind). I'm such a classy bird. Blush
