Over here all you 40s and fading!

OP posts:
KristinaM · 05/05/2011 08:38

No, we WERE that beautiful. It's just we didn't appreciate it at the time

I was very shy and insecure as a teenager. You know, if a boy spoke to me I would put my head down, mutter something and run off. I was paranoid about being so skinny and I was teased for having knobbly knees and no boobs

Last year we had a school reunion and one of the bullies women said to me that they picked on me because I was so pretty Shock. I thoight she must be drunk. And there was a school photo of me, all long blond flick y hair like Charlies Angels, no spots and skinny.

I was pretty, its just taken me 30 years to realise it. Now of course i m a dried up old hag Sad. though no doubt when I am 70 i will look back and think I looked pretty damn good.

LOL @ gransnet. I see now why MNHQ invited Martha Lane-Fox on for a webchat. Perhaps they're also going to launch Asylumseekers.net or UnderstandingPACE.net since Shami Chakrabati was here yesterday for a webchat.

i got on fine at the hospital still to get biopsy results thanks for the good luck messages and have to have a hysterectomy because of fibroid bleeding etc and have been put on the waiting list. I had a good look at all the other women in and all of us without makeup, Some were still very pretty.I was pleased with my new hairstyle no one elses hair looked like mine which no doubt most would be relieved to find out but i am going for the Tk mAxx Sophia woman who looks "striking"

Swedes2 · 05/05/2011 16:30

blossomtrees - Glad it all went well at the hospital. Hope you're OK about the hysterectomy, I hope you were prepared for that outcome. That TK Maxx buyer does look very striking, she looks a bit like Caryn Franklin from the old Clothes Show and Sophia's hair is loverly.

failed to run again this morning hip still hurting and don't want to make it worse. This isn't just unused to exercise pain as it was with legs, so will conent self with yoga today and try again tomorrow. My boy is eight today which is also a reminder of time passing :). Also caught his cold so feeling snuffly.
(ignores comments about KM's hot dh)

JemimaMuddleFuck · 06/05/2011 08:33

I am Jemima and I am a hag.
This is like the 12 steps isn't it ? Well 12 shufles really, given the creaking knee joints and dodgy hips.

I have purchased the Shred video, but made my 12 year old do it, whilst I sat on the sofa watching her, popping the bubble wrap it came in. How long will it take for me to drop a dress size ?

Blackduck · 06/05/2011 08:37

How did the 12 year old get on? (Mine does pilates moves that make me want to cry) And, be honest, how bad is that video really?
Popping bubble wrap - humm - not sure that is going to help on the dress size thing :)

Pagwatch · 06/05/2011 08:38

Grin at getting 12 year old to do the Shred.

I took DD to my yoga class. She is 8 years old and a pretty talented gymnast.

I felt grim enough. Then I turned around and looked at my fellow hags and they were clearly deciding whether to kill her first or me.

Pagwatch · 06/05/2011 08:39

Bkackduck.

It is baaaddd. But you feel great after about a week. Of course for the first week you just want to die.

moondog · 06/05/2011 08:40

Ladies, ladies ladies.
Where is your spirit?
This isn't fighting talk, this is going down with the Titanic stuff.
Shift yer arses!!

Black, hope your boy has a lovely day.Lay off the cake, mind. Just a sliver.

JemimaMuddleFuck · 06/05/2011 08:42

She gave up half way through Shock.

I was with her all the way and got very vigorous with the bubble wrap at several points.

Blackduck · 06/05/2011 08:42

I am trying to weigh up if it is worth it - I am not sure I could bear it if ds jumped around and did it without breaking a sweat whilst I collapsed in a red-faced heap on the floor. Tell me the weeks worth of humiliation is worth it? (and could I do it at 3.00 in the morning when the house is asleep so that dp doesn't laugh?)

JemimaMuddleFuck · 06/05/2011 08:44

I had to have a glass of wine and a cigarette after watching it.

Blackduck · 06/05/2011 08:45

MD - thanks - he was up at 5.40 demanding presents and cards (I did point out he wasn't actually officially 8 until 7.09 pm - this cut no ice..). He is having a sports party tomorrow - should I join in to replace missed run?

Lol at giving up halfway through - bored or knackered?

wordfactory · 06/05/2011 08:46

Yay, I have lost three pounds this week.

Have a big party to go to in June and want to aim for further loss of nine pounds, purchase of terrific outfit and a haircut in a more flattering style (i have good thick hair, no grey...just need something more chic, yet easy)

JemimaMuddleFuck · 06/05/2011 08:49

knackered and she swims, plays tennis, cycles etc.
