Happy birthday moondog!

Swedes - I think Eve Pollard has done the sleeves thing (Claudia Winkelman's mum), haven't checked them out but I'm sure I read she'd had the idea and teamed up with a designer.

As for the mirror exercise, I'm now unable to read my iPad when the sun's shining.

On low/no carbing (god I'm jumping around all over the place here - v scattered today) can you get away with substituting rye-type bread - the heavy stuff that's not really like bread but comes in slices in the bread section. It's just I did the boiled egg for lunch thing, sliced it up nicely and everything, but really wanted to put it on something......

moondog · 04/05/2011 14:44

Thank you thank, you all. I feel like the Queen Mum.
Yes, Cointrea, it is a good date. People do a double take when I reel it off.I was born at 3 o'clock too so that makes it even stranger.
Went to the gym, swam, had a sauna, went out and bought a new top in New Look (about as 'on trend' as it gets in my humble locale and the Spectator to read in bed with a cup of tea tonight. Life on the edge eh?

BIWI, ah, very interesting re osteopath's advice which confirms my innate suspicion about people just trying to sell you unwanted crap all the time.

Guffawing at herbaceous cutting a dash in her bootcuts and batwing sweater. Grin

moondog · 04/05/2011 14:47

Eve Pollard's clothes

I'd shoot myself if I ended up looking like her though.
Tarty Home Counties lady that lunches type.

Swedes2 · 04/05/2011 15:21

Clangermum - But Eve is just designing dresses with sleeves. My business plan is just to produce sleeves with no dress attached. My idea is much better.

Moondog - Ugh at Eve Pollard's monobosom shelf.

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/05/2011 15:23

Yes, she does have rather a large frontage, doesn't she?

herbaceous · 04/05/2011 15:26

Right. I had a two-egg omelette, with last night's greens in, and half a slice of toast with a smear of peanut butter, and I'm starving. I thought protein was supposed to fill you up?

Tell you what, though, I've joined My Fitness Pal, and it's rather revealing. You have to log everything you've eaten. Yesterday's diet of muesli breakfast, soup for lunch, and sausages with greens and quinoa would have been great. Until you add on the handfuls of pistachios I ate while cooking, the glass of wine I drank with dinner and the half easter egg. Amazing how you discount these things.

Swedes2 · 04/05/2011 15:26

KristinaM - Which dress did you buy? I just bought two Kaliko maxi dresses (arrived yesterday) and they are both lovely. I think I'm going to keep them both. The sizing on one seems a little generous and the other a little snug. I'm going to try them both on again tonight when I have some time to myself.

herbaceous · 04/05/2011 15:27

Swedes - 'I like your sleeves. They're real big.'

Finallygotaroundtoit · 04/05/2011 15:27

Ha! Zola Bud (who I nominate as a honorary hagsnet member) did barefoot running back in the 80's. Nowt new.
Seem to remember she tripped up America's top runner in the Olympics - Bud's name was mud (did you see what I did there)Grin

Well today I have;
Spent a frantic 10 mins in TKMax retracing my steps to find my lost car keys (they were zipped up in my bag)

Dropped an unpaid for tube of moisturiser in my bag & wandered around Boots ostensibly holding my paid for prescription in clear view

Called someone a 'nice young man'! To his faceShock

When did I morph into a mad old bat?

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 04/05/2011 16:40

Happy Birthdday Moondog.

My positive for today is that I've avoided all bread. Which is a good job because the trousers of truth are a bit tight.

On the downside I've been closely examining my face (bad idea) and realise that my pores are humungous. Shock

I have found my specs - I now have to find a lengthy free spell to read all this!

CointreauVersial · 04/05/2011 16:43

Herbaceous - if you're hungry, have a lump of cheese, or a slice of ham, or a few nuts. As a seasoned low-carber I can even fend off a desperate cake craving with nothing more than a small chunk of brie.

Hassled - thanks for the lip balm info - some people are obsessed with the stuff. A trip to Boots, methinks.

flimflammery · 04/05/2011 16:50

I'm a hag too. Also 44, also just noticed the creased decolletage last week for the first time. Also perimenopausal (does it make anyone else just utterly FURIOUS with everyone the whole time?). Also just noticed the creased inner elbows. My friend talks about the 'goodbye wobble' (wave goodbye in the mirror wearing short sleeves and you'll see). What I hate most, though, is my feet are turning into old lady feet - with bunions and everything.
On the plus side, I did a 25km bike race on Sunday (as part of a relay team doing a mini-triathlon) - the first time I've done any kind of race since I was in primary school.
Also, I can't stop laughing at the word 'gunt'.

clangermum · 04/05/2011 16:57

Grin at monobosom

swedes, I hadn't grasped the sleevy brilliance - I just take a pair, apply to any outfit and voila, am covered up.

I used to think anything eaten while standing up didn't count

have started using someone's idea of replacing wine with fancy cold drinks, and even use a wine glass. I'm not fooled mind.

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2011 17:16

Flimflammery, yes, I am constantly grumpySad

KristinaM · 04/05/2011 18:00

Swedes, it was this one in bright blue. I was down to £41. Not very exciting i know but

perfect length for me ( just on the knee, not tarty or mumsy)
good fit on large norks but fitted under them so doesnt make me look pg
properly cut around armhole so doesn't show heavy duty bra ( pet hate)
heavy weight jersey doesn't cling to every lump and bump ( not that i have any Wink)
knot front / draped style suits my shape

LOL at "relaxed femininity". As opposed to screaming harpie , which i am most of the time

Are you going to keep either of yours? which ones did you buy?

Swedes2 · 04/05/2011 19:39

KristinaM - Nice, love the colour. What would you wear that with? And where would you wear it? (Just being nosy.) I bought this dress and this dress I now need to find things to dress them up for a Summer wedding but I must say both dresses are really very lovely quality and v flattering.

If only I had some dark pink silk organza under-sleeves. The more I think about the sleeves the more I think it's a good idea.

Swedes love the dresses. Just keep your arms at your sides at all times!

minieggfannomore · 05/05/2011 06:23

I have just weighed myself and I have put on half a stone this week! How is this even possible?
I just stopped watching everything I ate and started eating hot cross buns and easter eggs
But in a week!
Depressed now.

Blackduck · 05/05/2011 06:52

I didn't run this morning, but will tomorrow and have signed up for yoga - tad worried as this is at work and I am at a uni so will probably be surrounded by 19 year old young things......

Finallygotaroundtoit · 05/05/2011 06:58

Talking of young things, is it just me or are they getting more beautiful? I'm sure me & my mates weren't that gorgeous when we were 19 Envy

minieggfannomore · 05/05/2011 07:09

Yes Finallygot I think they are more lovely - my son's girlfriend is a beautiful girl but she eats like a horse, drinks and smokes. I did all those things too but I was never a size 8! Envy Envy
