As you did so well with the black, jersey maxi that puddled, I've seen some trousers...

And you can stop with the collective groan. I come here but once a year. Last year you were all marvellous and talked me through a successful shopping trip. Granted I only shopped for around 7 panic-filled minutes but I bought a dress. We all did very well.

Anyway, it's that time of year again. I've taken to noticing what those around me are wearing. It's when the sun comes out I think. People are so much more visible. So, I've seen some trousers. In the manner of a style and beauty thread a la me, the description will be dubious.

Do you remember culottes? I do. In the same sort of way I remember Top Cat and Knightmare. I grew up in the 80s you see. Anyway, they're not culottes in any way, shape or form but something about them is reminiscent of them. They're fairly loose fitting. If you caught the wearer in a gentle breeze and your glance was only cursory, I suspect you might be forgiven for thinking 'skirt'. Not so. They are definitely trousers. I've seen two people wearing them. In two different towns. This is how I know they're out there somewhere, possibly somewhere obvious. Right, dubious description, where was I...

They're blue. They have little flowers on them. They're wide-legged. I'd guess at cotton but as I'm not in the business of guessing materials, natural, synthetic or otherwise, there's a fair to middling chance they're not cotton. They might be polyester mix or hemp or sack or some other fabric that I neither know nor care about. Anyway, I know fabric in the same way I know fashion in general. Namely, not at all.

So blue, wide-legged, floral, loose, sort of swishy, worn by women in Costa and women at street parties.

Have you seen this woman? Did you notice her trousers? I have high hopes.

Aahh, the sound of the first cuckoo, the daffodils nodding in the breeze, Showy's S&B fred - it must be springtime!

I don't usually venture here either, Showy, as I am naturally elegant and well-dressed at all times. And the last time I was here, EdgarAllanPoe and a sidekick were trying to persuade me to buy a maxi dress for £750! I'd expect <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=1.bp.blogspot.com/_vPlRdsfZg4g/TQoRz40-0zI/AAAAAAAADKc/Hp6SEnGTPYs/s1600/Austin%2BMaxi%2B1750%2BHL%2Bside.jpg&imgrefurl=bob-lethaby.blogspot.com/2010/12/austin-maxi-1750.html&usg=__cRfdUs-KnMKgB0-aPMIFwZaZUjc=&h=782&w=1600&sz=187&hl=en&start=13&zoom=1&tbnid=ljcPVni8GFr4hM:&tbnh=102&tbnw=209&ei=P_u_TbGMOMX10gHg55WfBQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3Daustin%2Bmaxi%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Dactive%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26biw%3D1208%26bih%3D651%26tbm%3Disch0%2C864&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=112&vpy=141&dur=139&hovh=157&hovw=321&tx=196&ty=85&page=2&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:13&biw=1208&bih=651" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this sort of maxi for that price.

Poledra, both equally stylish Grin

The second would be cheaper to accessorise.

I might run up a few maxis on my sewing machine and sell them to the masses. Would pay for my SOH tickets. £750? I don't think our car IS worth that much. Blimey.

I was just having a look on Zara website, they have a few similar to pair described.

I went into a Primark btw. It was full of jumpsuits, weird ones with elasticated harem-esque hems on them. And young people loitering about looking bored.

I did see palazzo whatsits. All made from some strange flammable shell suit type material. No lovely, floaty, cotton goodness.

I might admit defeat.
