OP posts:
PORTIA4 · 16/05/2011 21:19

OWWyes they are the boots I wear, but mine have a zip up the front. I also have a pair of black wedge Rick Owen boots that I wear with them.
Emo shame that you didn't get much shopping done, but it must have been a fab weekend.
Am off to London next week for Chelsea Flower Show( A true sign of senior years!) now need to plan my wardrobe for a 2 day visit to UkSmile.

moragbellingham · 16/05/2011 21:23

Ollie, I sent my WC cardi back as I didn't realise it was cotton. I have a thing about thinking it won't dry very quickly so I got this instead. Snuggly and very soft, if a bit shapeless in the arms.

AntPants1 · 16/05/2011 21:33

Hello everyone. Sorry I have not posted in a while. Have been lurking a bit but RL has just been so busy. I will read back on everyone's posts but in the meantime vin have you decided what to do job wise?

carciofi am so impressed that you are not letting a little thing lime being almost ready to pop stop you from eying up non mat wear!!! It would have been no good for me alas as I never pop back into shape after a baby!!

I have been almost saintly this month. As I mentioned a few weeks back my bank account has not bounced back from my maternity leave yet and we had had a few house things to buy so I have bought practically nothing..apart from this dress from redirect which does not count as they send me an email about it.....

www.reddirect.co.uk/p/Accessories_Clothing/GE1-01.htm worth a whorl for work...

Do you remember this DVF dress i was lusting after?

www.matchesfashion.com/fcp/product/Matches-Fashion/womens/diane-by-diane-von-furstenberg-dvf-z-d2765001v11s-dresses-RED/47435 well it arrived and was just horrid on me. Too short and there was something odd going on with the fabric. It was too silky/ thin and highlighted every lump and bump of which I have many and what with the pinky colour I looked like a large pink sausage. Not a look i aspire to. Back it went. Humpf.

Other than that have nothing to report really. I have decided to look at the gaps in my wardrobe rather than randomly buy things when I see them. On this basis I am on the look out for a pencil skirt. I have had loads of wear out of my black gap one so thinking grey. I am struggling a but with this weather. It's lovely spring days in London but not summer. So i would like some spring tops to wear with jeans. I have stripy long sleeved bretons for winter and Ts for summer but what about in between. Also on look out for denim jacket it think. Am maxi virgin still but there are some really lovely ones in Kew. Will hunt link. I tried of bit I think not for my 34Fs. But really lovely for someone else.

Oops massive post. Nothing form me for days and then an essay....oh and wide-awake I was just looking at my myers biggs results the other day I am EJS. I love lists!!!!!

AntPants1 · 16/05/2011 21:38

Oh god forgive typos. Am not (a) drunk or (b) any more derranged than usual but iPad spell check is fierce and I am no match for it!!!'

rufus101 · 16/05/2011 21:40

That is amazing Portia . How did you work that out? Does your DD's name begin with G? PM me and let me know! Can't believe we are within one degree of separation!
Frtizi I love the sound of your dinner this evening. I wear Ash wedge sneakers with mine. Can't link at the moment, as I'm on the phone.
Love the shoes Red . Go for them!
The queen will be here tomorrow. No doubt the entire city will be at a standstill for the next few days. I'm not sure how I am going to get to work, as the M50 will be closed at certain times. Exciting though.

blossoming · 16/05/2011 22:03

Hi antpants, great links. Shame about the DVF, I do love here stuff, but I have a classic black wrap, and a not so classic capped sleeve one. The first shows all lumps and bumps and requires spanx upon spanx. The other is so much more flattering. Fuller skirt I think.

Hope things will be okay tomorrow in Ireland rufus, and hope all Londoners stay safe too.

Morning all!

Nicole Farhi on SecretSales today, some nice silk print summer dresses!

carciofi · 17/05/2011 08:39

Welcome back Emo, hope you got a good night's sleep. Yep, J Crew will be selling here in Sept/Oct, I read. Have you tried blackout blinds in the baby's room? My DD was an early riser last summer and these helped.

Ants, I hope to be back to my regular size as quickly as last time but maybe it is more difficult on the second one. I have not taken the labels off the Houlihans just in case! Shame about the dress, I have a similar DVF that I have to wear a Spanx slip with. Jigsaw have some lovely tops I think. I am considering this but it's quite a lot for a top.

Going to check out Nicole Farhi sale now, thanks Fritzi.

notyummy · 17/05/2011 08:55

Morning all.

Emo - glad you had such a good time. It sounds amazing!

Ants - good to hear from you. Shame the wrap dress didn't work. I don't own one at all at the moment and should probably rectify that at some point. I used have one from New Look, of all places, that was fabulous and everyone complimented me on it. I wore it a lot for a couple of years and then the material started to stretch and sag - possibly because the quality wasn't great.

The last time I did a Myers Briggs I am almost sure I was an ESTJ. When I did my NLP course we all had to find out what method we used to process information (auditory, visual, kinaesthetic, or more unusually, auditory-digital). I was one of the strongest auditory-digital people that the guy had ever seen! Basically it means that I have to make sense of information by 'processing' it in my mind rather then just 'receiving' it in the form of a visual picture or listening to information. The down side is that I am less likely to be spontaneous (apparently!) but the upside is that I am very good at processing info. (BTW - some of these theories are open to question obviously!) But it does sit well with the tests I had to do when I joined the Civil Service, one of which was around verbal reasoning (i.e the processing of written information.) I scored within the top 1% of the population on that one!

This morning I am wearing my Mango blouse with new jacket, wooden heels (that I have been getting soooo much wear out of) and khaki peg trousers that I got in the sale from ASOS Black. They look good from the front with the stripey blouse, but I am less enamoured of the back view. A bit too much excess material around my arse Hmm. I will just have to back out of the room all the time and everything will be fine....

Hope you all have great days.

petitdonkey · 17/05/2011 09:00

Check you out notyummy - think a name change is in order!! You've inspired me to make an effort today. I started Level 2 Shred last night and have just repeated - what fresh hell is this??

FritziGreenEyes · 17/05/2011 09:56

ollie I am allergic to plasters too and had the most horrible welts in the past. There are plasters for hypersensitive skin you can buy at the pharmacy and they usually have them at hospital/doctor's too. I used to treat the damaged skin with a very light cortisone cream that you can buy without prescription here but I am not sure if that would be ok for children. Hope DS is ok!

blossoming · 17/05/2011 10:37

Morning all!
Hope your ds is better ollie.
I can't wait to try on a pair of houlis next time I'm in London.
Love the effort you put in to your outfits ny. I had never heard of those tests before. Great results!
I must get a rain hat. I miss my winter beret dreadfully.
If anyone got the Times Style on Sunday there was a photo of Sam Cam with David Cameron and his polo shirts rocking the 'country' look! Skinny jeans, hunters, tight fit cardigan, missoni type scarf and a blazer. I fancy giving it a go for the races (if it's raining) and would love a flat cap - that locals wouldn't laugh at!

OP posts:
VerityBrulee · 17/05/2011 11:51

OWW poor ds, hope he's ok.

Bloss congratulations on new neice Smile I saw a jacket this morning and thought of you, in Zara, lovely heavy linen blazer in a deep saphire. I can't find it on the website.

Rufus hope you got to work. I needed a quick trip into town this morning and ended up walking due to traffic restrictions. I've never seen anything like the security.

Fritzi good work on the second pair of Houlis, I'm a great believer in buying multiple versions of things you like!

Home now going to watch the Queen arriving here. It's quite an occasion. My Grandad and his brother were WW1 veterans, they would have loved to see this day. Hopefully it will be a safe visit for everyone, it's awful to be returning to the days of bomb scares.

I have a yearning for a breton dress, off for a trawl of the net!

VerityBrulee · 17/05/2011 12:05

Oh the Queen is wearing green Smile

FritziGreenEyes · 17/05/2011 12:15

verity Have you seen WIT's stripey dress. Apparently from Topshop but can't find it on their website.

FritziGreenEyes · 17/05/2011 12:18

For ollie: I adore Maxima, here!

VerityBrulee · 17/05/2011 12:29

Thanks Fritzi will have a look. I loved Maxima at the Wedding, I remember seeing her walk up the aisle in the Abbey, she looked so elegant and self-assured, had to to a bit of detective work to find out who she was!

OllieWollieWoo · 17/05/2011 12:47

Thanks Fritzi - another Maxima fan here! She is so down to earth and natural - and has some lovely things in her wardobe. My friend regularly sees her shopping on Saturday with her daughters in their local (albeit quite posh) shopping street (and she drives them around in a VW Beetle apparently!).
Thanks for the advice re plasters for DS2 too - its just as red & angry (and huge!) today so will take him to the pharmacy after school. A Mum from school who's a nurse said I need to be careful as the allergy can get worse with age and he can also develop other allergies......

Ant nice Kew links
Petit I started Level 2 and went scurrying back to Level 1!

Dutch lesson was hard work today and I was starving when I got home so have just pigged out on a huge lunch - and now am in danger of falling asleep on the sofs and missing the school run!

notyummy · 17/05/2011 13:58

petit - Level 2 great for shoulders, arms and core but yes, there is a big contrast from L1. Keep going!!

moragbellingham · 17/05/2011 14:24

May be WIT squeezed in to this Grin which I've just bought for DDs.

redllamayellowllama · 17/05/2011 14:35

Thanks for all the sandal advice - I'm still dithering, but shan't bore further. Wearing my red skinnies today with a grey ovsized tank and camel cardie And loving it (OWW you must get onboard). Wish I'd thought of wearing bright trousers before, it feels great.

V. jealous of all of these Houlihan purchases. My calves render them unwearable for me, I feel. Always have to give tight-lipped smiles to anyone I see successfully sporting them.

Carciofi like the Jigsaw top, but agree that it is a bit ££ for what it is. Uniqlo had similar top in cotton, could be worth a look?

Fritzi, I was also very taken with WITs dress. 'I stocked up in February' or some such. Well don't bloody show us now when we can't get it. Smug.

Bloss - I know the pic of which you speak and ink you would rock the look at the races.

Emo, glad you had a great time in Miami and hope you catch up on all your missed sleep somehow. DS gets up at 5.45, despite us trying everything to get him not to. At least I don't need to set an alarm clock to get up and Shred.

OWW - your poor DS. Must have been a shock peeling the plaster away. Hope it heals quickly.

Rufus and Portia - too funny. A&W does make the world seem like a very small place (well, maybe not the world, but you know what i mean).

blossoming · 17/05/2011 14:36

verity, did you have headaches when you gave up wheat?

Have just made an appointment for dd to have her hair cut in Chester tomorrow. Nice day out browsing!

I keep losing posts. Anyone else on iPhone Orange the same?

OP posts:
moragbellingham · 17/05/2011 14:40

bloss is it just today? my PC has been very strange but only on S&B today for some reason.

blossoming · 17/05/2011 14:47

I'm pleased you know what I'm talking about red. I will be looking for a cobalt/azure/grape round neck Cardigan to go with outfit. Lkb have cobalt but £££, Lands End have a blueberry that looks azure/Chinese blue and a grape for less.
I would love a fitted tweed blazer in black/charcoal. Not likely this time of year!

Loved your comment re WIT red!

OP posts:
carciofi · 17/05/2011 14:49

Hope your DS will be ok, OWW.

Red, thanks, I will take a look on Uniqlo's website. I was just looking at Ants' Kew links and saw this, I likey.

Bloss, I saw that photo of Sam Cam, I liked her look.

Wan, yes it is a relief to have the childcare sorted. I'm sure that one of my friends would have helped out but I'm happier that she can stay at home with her grandmother.

My bil is a policeman and in Dublin this week to look after the queen so she is in good hands!
