Stunning Wideawake, really elegant and understated...

notyummy · 28/04/2011 13:30

See what you mean about the formality WAN though. Tricky neckline to pull off.

wideawakenurse · 28/04/2011 13:31

Hmmm, in hindsight maybe the necklace was a tad too much.

carciofi · 28/04/2011 13:39

Gorgeous dress, Wideawake, very understated!

redllamayellowllama · 28/04/2011 14:09

J Brand at The Outnet. Might these be a wise buy?

notyummy · 28/04/2011 14:15

They look good Red!

ApuskiDusky · 28/04/2011 14:15

Hello everyone! Glad to hear the holiday makers have had a good time, have only skimmed so still need to read properly/look at links. Apologies for being missing in action, I have been on a massive "declutter and sort the house out" mission, so that if we need to sell then it can go on the market quickly.

Red, DH and I have started talking about Bristol again, as it's looking increasingly likely he won't be able to stay working where he is past the next 6 months. I don't have a job yet, but am expecting an interim offer any time now that I could commute to from Bristol. Thinking about different location now, though, maybe Frenchay / Hambrook / Stoke Gifford for better M4 access. The primary admissions info for 2011 has scared me!

Still not bought any clothes recently, and still waiting for my H&M Hasbeens to arrive. But I've got rid of a good load of old clothes, so am planning on a wardrobe review to see what I've got, what it'll go with and what I still need.

notyummy · 28/04/2011 14:23

I was reminded by the jeans link from Red and have now purchased these in a 28/34. Frustratingly, they do them in their 'tall' range, which is a 36 leg (have TS skinny flares in a 36 leg and like them) however they are all too big. I think 34 will be ok though.

VerityBrulee · 28/04/2011 14:36

Steadily wading through my projects, I'm so over interior design!

Very exciting shopping for me today, I nabbed a bag on ebay that I saw in Paris last oct and have regretted not buying ever since. It is this in navy. Don't tell dh I already have it in black [cblush]

Having prosecco and cakes tomorrow with dd and some friends for the wedding, am v excited about it, may have a root around in the attic for my dress, it's not as elegant as wideawakes sadly.

NY we went to Oz with 3 and 5 yo boys. We went the 'other' way, and stopped off in LA. Stayed in Santa Monica, practically on the beach, had a fab time, swimming and shopping! Just as well as when we got to Melbourne it was winter coat weather Shock, in July. We had planned to stay in melbourne, but quickly high-tailed it to sunny Sydney. It was bliss [csmile]

OK back to work.

moragbellingham · 28/04/2011 14:56

Notyummy - I wouldn't do Bangkok, rather Singapore but what about HK?
Purely from a luggage point of view I would consider going via USA for the extra weight allowance.

blossoming · 28/04/2011 15:07

Well I think you should wear it out in Cardiff wan. You will fit right in on St Mary's St. You might even get free chips down Caroline St!

In other news, it appears DH's team have made the play offs. Their best result in the 10 years I've been with him. Seems it's my duty to head to the games with him. Football terrace chic? I despair. But ihave 2 red scarves, one for winter, and a linen one for summer, so I will be covered!

A funny thing though, I've just seen a video of dh and ds playing frisbee on the eurocamp website for the parc we normally go to! How strange is that? And it was a friend of ours who saw it and told us. From two years ago. Really quite sad, he looks so little.

OP posts:
notyummy · 28/04/2011 15:08

HK = Chinese. We have nothing against the Chinese as people, just don't DH to have to sit through security briefs before going....and a 'darkened room with a bright light in your face' debrief on his return. Thats if he is allowed to go...

I wouldn't mind the US, but DH has 'done' LA and declared it 'all a toilet apart from Santa Monica'. No sweeping statements there then....Hmm. Think I would struggle to change his mind tbh. Didn't realise about the luggage allowance though!

petitdonkey · 28/04/2011 15:42

So sorry everyone for my 'woe is me' post this morning - had a lovely day with a lovely friend, I don't know why I was stressing.

Pickled and notyummy - outfit is for this weekend - I'll post pictures if I'm feeling brave!

redllama - I have purchased Shred but yet to do it - I must start!!

Wideawake - your dress choice was so elegant, I wouldn't be surprised to see Catherine in something very similar!

My only purchase today (apart from WC PJs for the children - why oh why can't I resist them?) was a Ted Baker Royal wedding scarf, links won't work but it's lovely! [csmile]

As ever ladies, you are wise, avid and very supportive - thanks x

PORTIA4 · 28/04/2011 15:43

Am off to London tomorrow to celebrate 'The' wedding! Have outfit and hat all sorted, will get blow dry after work. Our flight is at 6.30 in the morning with us having brunch followed by late lunch, and then home again.[csmile]

notyummy · 28/04/2011 15:47

Oooh Portia - how exciting! What are you wearing??

Glad you had a nice time Petit.

blossoming · 28/04/2011 17:47

That sounds great portia. Have fun! Are you wearing your wedding dress too?

Luckily, my recent purchases have failed miserably. The Isabella Oliver dress was tight and short, not Christening appropriate. I may wear the Bec instead. The long line tunic tops from Wrap looked like aprons, and the long awaited stripey top did not have 'delicate little cap sleeves' but big flappy elephant ears instead.
So after writing out a list of my s/s buys last night and being quite ashamed at how avid I have been (especially since the Boden wedge espadrilles still haven't arrived) I will thankfully be sending them all back (well apart from the pleat front shorts in a different colour Blush).
Can I really be done till a/w though?

pickled, I have the Pour Moi 'azure' bikinis, halterneck and bandeau in gunmetal and black. From last year. They don't have the same colours this year, but I do highly recommend!

Hello!

Busy with lots of house-stuff which I am loving but still managed to accidentally order this.

blossoming · 28/04/2011 18:20

Delicious mrscb.

FritziGreenEyes · 28/04/2011 18:26

Hi mrscb Love the leather jacket! Hope you have settled into your new home and enjoy the sunshine in the garden! We miss you here!

And you too LTEC! Link to bag doesn't work. I thought of you the other day as the weather was getting warmer and wondered if you are still running. You seemed to enjoy it so much last summer.

portia Ohhh how exciting! Oufit details please Smile. Love notyummy's and mini-yummy's dress choices. I will leave work a bit earlier tomorrow, pick up DD from kindergarten earlier and rush home! Will order pizza for lunch, classy!

wideawake Shock at that dress!

petit Glad you had a lovely time with your friend. If it is any consolation I think we all feel bad about how we look regardless of our shape and size.

red Jeans look good! Got my Outnet parcel with bikinis I ordered last week. The bottoms look teeny tiny, I don't even know if I'm brave enough to try them on.

notyummy Wow, great holiday plans! I think I would prefer Oz to the Olympics Wink.

apuski Well done on decluttering. Must be lovely to have a lot of space for new clothes!

verity Hope your work settles down a bit soon and you will be back in love with it soon. You always sound so passionate about what you do. In fact, I would really, really need someone to advise me on interiors. The inside of our house is a disaster and I seem unable to make any decisions.

blossoming · 28/04/2011 19:13

verity, was it just a one year course? Are you done now?

OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 28/04/2011 19:18

Ok, tried the bikinis on and it is was absolutely horrific! I like the way I look in clothes most days but swimwear causes utter despair... Someone advised me to go for triangle bikinis despite my biggish bottom but there is just sooo little material and the sagging bits just look, sad... (sorry if TMI).

Bikini thesis, part 2: Regular bikini bottoms cut right across my middle causing bulges at the hips which is equally bad. On the plus side: Bottom is covered.

Maybe there is a reason that I hate swimming pools? Any advice dear A&W ones? I'm not ready (yet) to cover up à la Nigella!

MrsCampbellBlack · 28/04/2011 19:27

Fritzi - no matter how much weight I lose I always look rubbish in bikini bottoms - its the curse of the indent Wink

I've got this bikini as it provides more coverage of my dreaded tummy area whilst still being flattering.

The only other ones I've tried on that worked were Heidi Klein ones that had a sort of fold-over top like this

FritziGreenEyes · 28/04/2011 19:31

mrscb Links look great, will investigate further! I thought there was no hope for indent-sufferers Smile

MrsCampbellBlack · 28/04/2011 19:35

Oh bikinis are a nightmare - I became truly obsessed last year. I generally think they just don't work terribly well on apples and it takes a lot of trying on and £££ to find a good one.

And you know how obsessed I am with my indent Grin

If only I had Kate Middletons hips Wink
