Where is everybody???

VerityBrulee · 13/05/2011 12:13

Poor Bloss I had the same thing earlier in the week, was confined to sofa except for school-runs. I would have hoped to have grown out of this kind of thing at my age.

Hi Reine hope the cake goes well Smile

Roary love that black retro bathing suit!

I'm so cross with myself, I shrank my best ever skinnies in the tumble dryer and they are now ankle skimmers.

Bucketing rain here, enjoy your run NY

blossoming · 13/05/2011 12:30

I like the messenger bags apuski and agree with notyummy's comments.

roary, I like the stripy swimsuit. I try to emphasize my shoulders in a swimming costume and go for bandeau style and halter neck.
I think this one would be perfect for us: halterneck and serious ruching at the waist, even mine might comply! I have this one in blue that I linked to for emo yesterday. I bought it before I lost weight though and there is excess fabric on the bum. I have to hoik the legs up too, so serious maintenance required!

I forgot the bloody sunscreen AGAIN. Grr. Will be a wrinkled prune at this rate.

I went to a meeting with a very, very impressive lady yesterday (one of the few female Chief Execs in the country of a company the size and make-up of the one she runs.) She was awesome - and I REALLY wanted to ask her where she got her jacket, which was lovely....but I thought I should wait until I know her better as she might take it the wrong way. I also decided she had probably had just a touch to much botox as the forehead wasn't moving at all. She was great though and may be a new role model. No kids though!!

pickledsiblings · 13/05/2011 12:42

Good afternoon all Smile

arrgh Verity about the skinnies, do they work as ankle skimmers?

lol and roary and bloss as spiders (can't quite envisage the spider with carrot tendencies)

NY, where do you run, countryside, pavements, park?

Would you believe it, my Gap order with lots of ts for DH and I arrived this morning. The problem is, they have already cancelled the order and refunded. Do I just call them?

blossoming · 13/05/2011 13:01

pickled, and roary, I have just put some photos that are on FB on my profile for your eyes only! Is there anyone else not on fb?

Hi lovely ladies.

Had such a nice day yesterday; wandering the Kings Road (where I have never been before - how is this?!) with one of my dearest friends, back home for a quick change and baby drop-off and then out to the cinema with another equally gorgeous friend (Water For Elephants - don't bother). Didn't b anything for me, but am still being plagued by this CdesC dress which I am in love with. Any thoughts?

The first friend and I are sending her husband and baby over here for a night in June so we can have a day of uninterrupted shopping and an evening of drinking with no early wake-up. My post-Shred shop I think. Already very excited about this. We've also been invited by the same couple to holiday in France with them at her parent's place in October - she's just sent me the pics and i can't wait.

Have been most wise and dyed my white jeans red; they look great!

Emo - if you're still around, have a fab time; very much looking forward to hearing about it in full.

Hope you're feeling better today Bloss

*Pickled, are you not even a little tempted to keep schtum?

pickledsiblings · 13/05/2011 14:56

Thanks bloss. You look fab in those shorts and the P8 maxi is lovely on you. It looks quite casual (I thought it would look a bit more formal) so on that basis I may have to give it a whirl. I think it would shorten fine and the overall look is lengthening.

red, I love the sound of your plans with your friends. Holidaying with friends is great when DC are little. Love the sound of your red jeans, I may have to dye DD's white jeans as I can't seem to shift some stains so they just look tatty. I am more than a little tempted btw but my conscience wouldn't allow it. I fear something dreadful might happen when I'm wearing the clothes. Total order price is £150 so quite a bit.

pickledsiblings · 13/05/2011 15:31

Just phoned Gap and they told me to keep it. As I would have returned 2 of the items anyway I have offered to go ahead and do this. Result!

OllieWollieWoo · 13/05/2011 15:48

Pickled wow - how lovely for you - good on Gap and good on you for phoning.

Glad you are feeling brighter today Bloss.

Had a facial this morning - using suncream seems to have played havoc with my skin so brought some expensive Yonka SPF stuff that is good for problem skin apparently. Have also been advised to take a vitamin B complex.

Saw on the Promo Codes thread that Dotty P has 25% off code - quite like the look and colour of these houlalikies (also come in navy) here and may also get the grey linen shorts here

carciofi · 13/05/2011 16:28

NY, your skin looks like peaches and cream so don't think you need to worry yet.

OWW, aww, YonKa reminds me of my mother, she always used that range

Pickled, your honesty was rewarded.

Bloss, hope you are feeling better. I am making your red lentil soup at the moment.

Red, I like the dress. I love the Kings road and go there whenever possible. :)

I went to the hospital yesterday and the doctor told me that the midwife gave me incorrect information and I would not be induced until 10 days after the due date. I was so disappointed I couldn't hold back the tears. Not that I want to be induced but it makes it difficult for me to organise childcare and we can't put MIL up in a hotel indefinitely. Anyway, a friend (who is due two weeks after me) said she will be on standby and can stay over if necessary. The doctor said I was very neat and it was a good sized baby but not too big. Think he was trying to cheer me up. :)

I decided a trip to Westfield was in order on the way home and bought a pair of navy Russell and Bromley ballet flats which oddly fit yesterday but not today. However I am sure they will fit again soon. Tried on the White Co maxi and it is too short on me and the broderie anglaise skirt is also a bit short and too girlie.

blossoming · 13/05/2011 16:44

Oh carciofi, you poor thing. The same happened to me. I hated going over my dates and I hated being induced. I felt a failure. And every time I had an examination or 'attempt' at sweep I would cry again! I really thought, what's wrong with me. It is really difficult for you with no family around to help, I hope we can give you some support from here closer to the time.

OP posts:
carciofi · 13/05/2011 16:49

Thanks Bloss. I will try not to be too whiny but apologise in advance if I am!

OllieWollieWoo · 13/05/2011 16:56

You can never be too whiny about something like this "carciofi* - so please, please, please offload on here. I was 2 weeks overdue with DS1 and spent pretty much the last 3 days crying just wanted it all to be over! Wish I'd had MN (ok, W&A) then.

OllieWollieWoo · 13/05/2011 17:01

Oh I LOVE this dress for all you Autumns here

moragbellingham · 13/05/2011 17:54

Random post - notyummy you are the maxi queen? Check this one out.
I bought it but have bra issues so returned it, thought it would be a useful addition for a bursting maxi wardrobe as it's really nice for everyday.

moragbellingham · 13/05/2011 17:55

Oh dear, just checked link. It does come in navy in store also.

redllamayellowllama · 13/05/2011 18:25

Well, there you go pickled; it pays to believe in karma! Good on you. Have dyed my other pair of white jeans 'Bahama blue' - definitely a good move as was too precious when in white jeans. Much more wear to be had from both pairs now.

Definitely get the shorts OWW; have seen them IRL and are definitely a good buy - especially at that price.

Oh Carciofi, not what you wanted to hear I'm sure. whinge as much as you want to here; we've all been there ( I promise now not to utter the words 'any twinges yet?' or similar). I think I'll be making many return trips to the King's Road Grin.

Like the maxi Morag, same bra issues for me though, I fear.

notyummy · 13/05/2011 19:24

Thanks for that Morag - it does look nice! I would need a colour other than black as I have a plain black daytime maxi (in fact I have 2 - long and strappy Blush) I assume a strapless bra would work? If it wasn't for nipple issues I would go braless - there are advantages to my 32 As!

Does anyone know Brussels? I may be spending the day there in July on my own. Any department stores? MAC counters? Good blow dry bars?

DH was 'held hostage' in a meeting in London today, missed his train, missed his connection. No romantic evening for us tonight.
I am excercised and showered. Think it's wine time!!

OP posts:
VerityBrulee · 13/05/2011 22:27

Oh, poor you Carciofi, it's so hard without family around to help out, try not to worry, it will all work out fine Smile

Bloss hope you are having a relaxing evening with the remote control all to yourself, maybe Roma will pop in with some insider knowledge of Brussels

I spied a really lovely Sandro dress this morning, decided to think about it over the weekend which is just as well as I just got dd and ds's bookbills from school which total the exact amount of the dress. Is someone trying to tell me something?

Red sounds like a perfect day. I have always wanted friends with a family house somewhere sunny, unlike ourselves - we have a family house somewhere cold and windy. Nearly managed it last year but friends parents decided to buy a boat instead. How very selfish Wink

I'm off to bed early as I have a crazy day tomorrow, but I just had a quick nosey look on facebook and you are all so gorgeous, really we are a bunch of exceptionally lovely women Smile

notyummy · 13/05/2011 22:51

I feel for you Carciofi. I hope we can help in some small way.

blossoming · 13/05/2011 23:15

Roma's not posting any more is she.
You're right about the uber glamourous-ness of the ladies on this thread. Could give someone a complex. Really. It could.

Dh home, I love him in his best gieves&hawkes suit. Off to bed.

Caciofi how unsettling to have your plans changed like that. I gave birth to DD1 & DD2 overseas, and being the first of all my friends and family to have a baby I did worry . It all worked out fine and I now look back and wonder how I coped( DH dropped me home from hospital with DD1 and went straight to Heliport and disappeared for a week!). It was fine and when I had those moments of what the hell am I doing I did find Dare I say it Gina Ford invaluable to get a routine going. I sometimes think that we women are way more capable than we give ourselves credit for! Maybe Sps does turn out supermums!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, have lots of dropping off and picking up tp do with grinds, gymnastics etc and then another Communion party, think that I will wear Boden dress again.
Really love that maxi Morag

carciofi · 14/05/2011 08:43

VB, I love Sandro and Maje. I will have to look you up on FB.

Thanks for the kind words, it is just what to do with DD that was concerning me, especially if the labour is as long as last time and I am gone for days! DH's boss seemed surprised that DH did actually intend to take his two weeks paternity leave but he made it clear he would not be in and would not be available for meetings either!

Portia, I did do a kind of Gina light routine with DD and it worked well. :o
at SPS supermums. Enjoy the communion.

Everyspring, forgot to say, great about Barcelona.

Bloss, found this guide to shopping in Brussels.
