Where is everybody???

OP posts:

Bloss love the maxi!

Rufus ah bad luck re hair. I always dislike mine for two weeks after doing it no matter what (I have no idea why) but then I like it.... then of course soon it is due for a cut again. Expensive isn't it!

Dh took us out for an impromptu dinner last night. Was really great fun. Has been rather strained for us over last year due to lack of sleep so so happy to be getting on really well again. Next step, babysitter and dinner somewhere really nice.

MarshaBrady · 07/05/2011 11:02

Oh and just had a hilarious chat with my sister in Perth. She went out to dinner last night and ate a 140£ steak.

It had it's own high chair. (some stand thing). I am still Grin over that...

Roary look forward to hear what you think of it all

MarshaBrady · 07/05/2011 11:02

$ not that much...

wideawakenurse · 07/05/2011 11:21

Quick post from me.

I am at soft play hell drinking dodgy coffee and judging other's outfits when I should be in the ball pit, desperatly trying to put an educational slant on such activities as many parents do round here, ie, "shall we count the number of balls in the pit today"

Gahhhh!

blossoming · 07/05/2011 11:26

marsha, that is hilarious!
wan, poor you.
Am at hairdresser's. A bit scared.

OP posts:
Fleecy · 07/05/2011 11:49

Good luck bloss and sorry you don't like your hair rufus

marsha the first time DH and I went on holiday together we ordered the most expensive bottle of wine on the menu to go with dinner on the last night - it still wasn't much money but they made a massive deal out of it with three people parading it through the restaurant in a little convoy, stuck in some fancy ice bucket thing that was terribly ornate and looked like a little throne. We were horribly embarrassed Grin

Nice dresses bloss and llama

wideawake isn't the whole point of soft play a good run around and it's good for physical co-ordination? I've never seen anyone using it as 'education' before - I would LOL I think!

MarshaBrady · 07/05/2011 13:02

Haha Fleecy!

Go to a style consultant everyspring. Hairdressers are crap at suggesting good styles I think.

Almost cried at my salon experience. At mil's and kids don't want to know. I am so going to London next time.

Oh and bought White company bib front tunic in slate navy.

OP posts:
OllieWollieWoo · 07/05/2011 15:28

Bloss sorry about your hair (and you too Rufus). I have ordered that tunic too Bloss after trying it when we were over for Easter - got it in slate (tho did ring round every WC store trying to get it in glacier (pale grey) but sold out everywhere!!!). Dare I say I think it will look good with white jeggings? Did you get it slate and navy?
Oh yes, just spoke with sister and she asked who my new FB mate was as she didnt recognise the name - asked if your new FB name was real (I told her it was Wink)

blossoming · 07/05/2011 17:09

Omg do I sound like a porn star?

That salon was awful. My hair may be nice but underneath the centre parting and nasty hairspray it is hard to tell.

Tunic and maxi are both lovely. There was no glacier in Chester either. Looked great with my black jeans.

I also bought Ian Marber's daily diet book and a Biggest Loser Beach Body Blitz book. Looks like less wheat is needed.

Ladies, indulge me. Have just finished the playdate from hell. All started so well. Lovely friend who is currently battling breast cancer came over this pm with her DS. He is same age as dd and they get on well. We were having a lovely catch up whilst they played. First of all dd came running in with the telephone in her hand and said 'I think you need to speak to this lady mummy.' I take the phone off her to discover that she has dialled 999. Cue me apologising to emergency operator profusely (who had obviously heard it all before.) DD does know this is wrong as we have spoken to her about 999 before. All slightly embarrassing but not the end of the world.

Next the two of them bring a pile of 'medicine' down from upstairs because they are playing nurses. 'How nice', I think. 'They are using their imaginations.' DD asks me for a medicine spoon. I dig one of kitchen draw. THEN I see her squeezing out a sachet of calpol out on to the spoon and get ready to eat it. I rush into the family room (we had been next door in sitting room) and snatch away. It transpires that dd had decided to spice game of doctors and nurses up by balancing a stool on top of chair and climbing up to the medicine cupboard in the spare bedroom. We have a cabinet on top of the wardrobe which has a child lock on, but she has worked out how to bend that back using a knife. I was MORTIFIED. There was no actual harm done but the potential was obviously huge. Obviously riot act was read but so worried about what my friend must think. She is great and didn't seem cross with me... But still.

Argh!!!

blossoming · 07/05/2011 18:18

Oh dear notyummy. Is it too early for Wine? Best leave it if your friend is still there Grin.
You will have a store of stories to regale your dd's future boyfriends though!

Hi all,
Can't believe I've missed a whole week again - must try harder Grin Glad most of you are on facebook now so I see what you look like - I have found the beautiful bloss - who else do I need to complete my W&A collection? Marsha - have you taken the plunge yet?

Shock NY - how embarrassing! I'm sure your friend will understand - probably brightened her day!

I love the idea of a throne for a steak / bottle of wine Marsha / Fleecy.

Haven't been able to keep up with links as have mostly been on iphone this week -have I missed anything fabulous?

Have been to a 1 year old's birthday party this afternoon. Was hoping her famous uncle would be there so made an effort Blush with flares, platform shoeboots & white drapey top. Unfortunately he couldn't make it but I'm sure the babies appreciated my efforts!

Back later after bedtime

wideawakenurse · 07/05/2011 18:22

NY you have to give her 10 out of 10 for trying though, she clearly is a smart cookie Grin If it's any help, I got a call back from 999 this week, as DS had rang them. Yep, mortifying.

Bloss sorry to hear that your salon experience was poor. Just goes to show that when you find a fab hairdresser, they are worth their weight in gold. Love, love, love that Maxi. Am going to investigate the tunic later on the website.

Marsha Lovely to hear that you and DH had a good evening. Sometimes it's only when we get a chance to spend some time together that you realise the toll that DC's can take on your relationship at times, added in with poor sleep, well it can be very tough. Since having DS, DH and I have had some of our best, but moreover, some of our worst moments in our marriage. Good idea that you are going to make it a regular occasion. Thats something that DH and really need to do.

Well soft play was ok in the end. Agree that it's all about rough and tumble and burning off energy. However, there are some very earnest types round here, and therefore counting the balls in the pit is not unheard off. Often from those wearing fleeces and upturned collars on women's rugby shirts. I am a cow aren't I?!

DH bought me a bottle of perfume today, which was lovely surprise. Smells like summer evenings. It's this. I keep smelling my arm and fantasising I am in a beach bar in Goa, looking like Jade Jagger.

In reality, I am sitting in the lounge with DH watching some inane football match between two 3 rd division teams, looking more like Mick Jagger.

Sorry NY but I had to laugh. Your DD is very resourceful.

Rufus and Bloss, sorry you aren't happy with your hair but Bloss, I am glad you will won't be abandoning your hairdresser in London so I can still meet you. I hate getting my hair cut, I'd rather go to the dentist!

Wan, you have a very nice DH!

Does anyone on the thread want a pair of SFAM black cotton flare jeans? The style is called Ginger. They are a 30 waist and 34/36 length and I think I may have worn them once. Blush

Wine for lots of you this evening!

rufus101 · 07/05/2011 18:49

Been there Every. Sometimes I think it would not be good if a film crew wasfilming this!
Love that maxi Bloss bet your hair will look great once you've washed it yourself.
I thought you were someone different NY! (Water)

Good for you everyspring. Hope you have a lovely time.
You could always follow my mantra in all matters related to child rearing: must try harder tomorrow!

I am so annoyed and upset about my hair. I really thought, how hard can it be to just trim my existing hairstyle. FFS.
Lady at the butcher's said, Oh, hi, didn't recognise you there for a minute. You've had a chop haven't you.
And ds said, you look like you did when you were a little girl.
carciofi I have learnt my lesson.

My eyebrows are okay though, and they do Fake Bake there (not done at the hairdressing salon but in a Kalmora Spa in the Debenhams). I may take the plunge before my holiday in the summer. Anyone have any experiences?

wan, this is the tunic. In smokey navy, sorry not slate. But it looks very good with black and I had a slate cardigan over it. Not much navy in it I wouldn't have said! Very forgiving!

Bloss I really feel for you re: bad haircut experience. You have lovely hair, I'm sure you'll never compromise again! Lovely maxi and like the White Co tunic too - I've previously considered in the sold out colour to wear with a pair of toast churidar trousers.

I'm feeling a lot better thanks. Still got unresolved teeth issues but working on it. Also I decided to apply for redundancy; should know the outcome by mid June. Now that I've applied I REALLY want to leave.

NY your DD is a little tinker isn't she? sorry I had to laugh too (although can't have been that funny at the time!).

Can't remember who asked but the Burberry trench has been a really good buy, I've worn it lots.

Off to have a low key evening. Had two lots of swimming today, one was a swimming b'day party (where I had to get in the water with both DC, boo hiss!) so shattered now.

redllamayellowllama · 07/05/2011 20:52

Oh no Bloss! Hopefully you will feel a bit better with it once it is styled your way, with your products. Love the maxi dress; not really like any others I've seen.

Have had a lovely afternoon with friends who have a DS exactly the same age as our DS. They played beautifully together and we actually managed to have a really good catch-up. Lovely. Did make a bit of a duff meal though, which was a shame. Biscuit-base strawberry tart kind of made up for it, but was still annoyed with myself.

Speaking of playdates... NY I love your DD's innovative play. Were I too have been your friend, I would probably have been impressed more than anything else!

WAN I know the soft-play types of which you speak. I once observed someone tutting at my DH (I was heavily pregnant and sitting it out) for encouraging DS in his rambunctious behaviour while her and her DS were counting the blocks in her (and I do mean her) tower.

Good luck for tomorrow everyspring, hope it is as rewarding as it is tiring!

rufus101 · 07/05/2011 21:08

Excuse spelling errors. On a phone! That should have been "waves" not water.
Good luck tomorrow Every

blossoming · 07/05/2011 21:59

I've been curious about that 'water' all night rufus!

Well done on reaching your target everyspring.
