I haven't as yet submitted to the full beard and elasticated waistband trousers. But heck, it's hard isn't it? I absolutely love clothes, make-up, and all that shit.... but I am becoming more and more interested in my garden (not a euph). Last night I went to the garage to buy milk in my gardening clothes.

Anyone else going through the same thing? Have you any tips you can share?

WWWY - I am hardly trying to increase things too quickly - on Tuesday I did half of what you're supposed to do on day 1 (i.e 4 x 1 minute runs instead of 8) , and today I did exactly what you're supposed to do on day 2! I was only going to do 6, but as I felt fine, I did all 8.

Anyway, all that is irrelevant because at the moment it would be unwise for me to contemplate any running, which is a bit depressing.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 28/04/2011 21:46

Sorry I must have mis understood the programme - had a quick glance and had the impression you did pretty much the same thing for the first week.

But if you felt fine carrying on you probably were - only something inexplicably pulled, which can happen to anyone.

I hope your pain goes away soon and you can get back into it.

I'm aiming for a shred or gym tomorrow. Felt much stronger today after yesterday's shred.

mittenkitten007 · 28/04/2011 21:52

Yes BIWI, injuries can happen to anyone -- and at any age. Injured my knee at 28, which was actually the impetus for my beginning to get fit. Muscles and joints are unpredictable . . . it says so right on the weight machines at the gym! [cgrin]

LadyCornyOfSilk · 28/04/2011 22:07

Hopefully it's just a pain from using a muscle that you don't use as much. Sounds to me like you were taking it easy anyway.

hellymelly · 28/04/2011 22:35

How do you time the runs? Do I need a digital watch? How can you glance down to time them whilst running? (bear with me,I am very tired)

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/04/2011 22:46

helly - there's an iPhone app that you can download - it tells you when to walk/run - how long you've got left, etc

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/04/2011 22:48

... and you can play your own music as well, at the same time

nothingnatural · 28/04/2011 23:19

The App for that is Runkeeper It's ace, gives you programmes, to do measures your routes, keeps time/distance etc etc. If you get into running or walking or cycling it's really worth it.

moondog · 29/04/2011 08:40

BIWI, no it sounds as if yuo have been very sensible.
I am just musing over possible reasons for your injury.
Even thoguh I'm fit, i still feel stiff the next day after doing unfamiliar exercise, using muscles I don't normally.
How are you today?

I think it is important to remember you don't need lots of special equipment (my pet hate) to do some physical activity. Reasonable running shoes, something light to run in that wicks away sweat and if you like, some music to listen to. Taht's it.

duffybeatmetoit · 29/04/2011 09:41

Went to my GP due to 3 months of 14 day cycles and loads of peri symptoms and got told to avoid HRT and take Black Coshosh. Gave me a leaflet on alternatives to HRT which said that Black Cohosh (and others) had not been proved to give any relief from symptoms and that it damaged your liver. Stopped taking it and have had lots of people tell me to avoid BC due to the liver damage.

Was offered the ablation but wanted to think it over (and couldn't afford the time off work) since then 3 months without a period so a result of sorts. Getting used to carrying vast quantities of tampons on me at all times just in case Grin

mittenkitten007 · 29/04/2011 09:45

Duffy -- So they told you to take Black Cohosh and then gave you a leaflet that said . . . not to take Black Cohosh???

CointreauVersial · 29/04/2011 12:38

Yikes, maybe I won't stock up on BC just yet.

Deffo going to see my GP; he's very sensible.

AmIAPayne · 29/04/2011 13:07

Just did a google found this:

Black Cohosh

TimeForMeIsFree · 29/04/2011 13:40

BIWI I'm sorry to hear about your muscle strain. I can highly recommend rebounding for those who find running difficult or a chore. I feel as though my whole body has had a work out after just 20 minutes, I'm loving it. Lot's of info on it's benefits if you fancy googling.

BecauseImWorthIt · 29/04/2011 14:00

Glad to report that leg is much better today, albeit probably still not wise to run again tomorrow. And the rest of me isn't stiff either, which was a surprise bonus!

Interesting stuff about black cohosh

soyabean · 29/04/2011 17:04

Hello
I lurk occasionally and love S and B despite being neither... havent looked for ages and have tday come across this thread and read 3/4 of it - all so familiar, thanks all!

Can identify with just about every symptom - but one that gives me particular angst is the fuzzy peach face, complemented by wiry chin hairs and moustache. God, even the wrinkles that make me look permanently grumpy and miserable and the varicose veins that make me dread summer, don't depress me quite as much as the facial hair.

The whole thing is miserable though isn't it? I'm 48, DH and I are struggling, and I look like sh*t. Sigh... I do run and am in reasonable shape as long as I have clothes on, although def have the 'undefined' waist.

Anyway... nice (in a way) to know I'm not alone! Will check in again soon
Good luck with all missions

mittenkitten007 · 29/04/2011 17:10

cyb can you lose some of my weight for me too please?

soyabean · 29/04/2011 17:11

Oh, and flooding - Yes! Shocking to feel unable to 'manage' myself: like a teenager just starting. Was amaemic, unsurprisingly, and GP sent me for a scan - hospital found nothing untoward and fitted a mirena coil - I did have one years ago and had no periods at all so am hoping it will work again. It's been 4 weeks and I am bleeding lightly every day but they did say it would be a few months before it settled and at least I have not had a monster period.

I had my previous coil removed in the hope that it might improve my lost libido - it didn't. So lack of interest in total antipathy to sex is another of my afflictions.

cyb · 29/04/2011 18:41

Yes itdoes seem like a lot in 5 days- shows how much crapola I was eating before Blush

herbaceous · 29/04/2011 18:44

Mmm. Looking forward to flooding. NOT.

Saw a woman at the playground today who was totally grey, and could have been anything from 35 to 50. She looked AMAZING. Like she'd totally embraced the whole ageing thing, and was cool with it. Long pepper-and-salt hair, and red lipstick. Admittedly, she was was very thin and very beautiful. She even managed to wear a navy jersey jumpsuit and to look supercool. I had a bit of a momentary crush.

bigTillyMint · 29/04/2011 19:24

So fellow hagsnetters, how did the mother of the bride manage to look so damn good - she is a women of a certain age too Envy
