Been and had my botox injections in my number 11's so now will wait and see.

Was very nervous but the nurse put me at ease and it was over in no time.

cornsilkily · 02/04/2011 14:40

noddyholder · 02/04/2011 14:45

I didn't need it before mid 40s so not sure how you can tell when to start apart from teh mirror!!!!!

cybbo · 02/04/2011 14:54

corny I've been saving up

Altho I did buy 3 pairs of shoes yesterday

noddyholder · 02/04/2011 14:57

3 pairs! I bought a pair from East (cringe) Have them on today feet are bloody freezing!

cornsilkily · 02/04/2011 15:14

how much did you pay cybbo? for the botox I mean

TattyDevine · 02/04/2011 15:22

Forget what I said about 30s 40's 50's - Noddy is right, its what the mirror says to you. There will be people in their 40's, who if they haven't spent years squinting or frowning or cackling or smoking who look better than 31 year olds who have...etc. Hell my mum looks excellent for 65, no jowls or anything major, just some nasio-labial (between side of nose and mouth!) and her glabellar are bad - if she had them relaxed she'd look 10 years younger without making anything else look bad in the process. Other 65 year olds would look silly with a smooth forehead due to the other stuff going on in the lower part of their face. That's what I was trying to say really...

I think its been established that the longer "damage" and movement is not occuring the better you'll look in the long run. There will be less break down and separating away of the collagen fibres underneath. I guess this will happen eventually so perhaps by 70 you will then "catch up" to other 70 year olds? Depends how long the projection is perhaps.

Noddy it depends a bit how long your dentist has been doing it. I'd ask and try and guage the reaction and how enthusiastic they are about it and what questions they ask you. People sometimes view dentists doing botox as highly suspicious and to be avoided but really they are ideally qualified for this kind of procedure. They are obviously experienced in giving injections, in dosage, have medical training so understand contra-indications etc, and they obviously have the training required to understand the underlying muscle systems of the face and how they interact.

Regardless of qualification, I do think personal recommendation is a good thing. Always promising if you have to wait a few weeks after ringing up because they are fully booked! If they say "are you free today?" enthusiastically then run a mile!!!

cybbo · 02/04/2011 16:40

I ahvent had it done yet corny but he charges £180 for 3 areas I think, £150 for 1

Grumpystiltskin · 02/04/2011 19:39

I'm a dentist and I do no cosmetic intervention (on the face not the teeth) whatsoever. I will say this for my botoxing dental colleagues though. We spend five years (like Drs) at University studying the head and neck (not like Drs who study everything although we do a significant amount of whole body stuff). Aesthetics is very very much part of our training so I think you could do worse than seeing your dentist. Our insurance is £££++ if we do any botox type stuff as well!

TattyDevine · 02/04/2011 20:19

Thank you Grumpy, I've always been indignant on behalf of Dentists who do Botox and get Hmm (there was one on here just the other day, the poster was saying "they seem to think that's okay" or something to that effect) and its not just because I use one.

You have summed up what I was trying to say in better words and with the benefit of experience

Okay here we go - I think Colleen Rooney has recently had botox

What do you reckon?

Observe the (albeit fairly subtle) vulcan brow

I want before and after photos, ladies!

cornsilkily · 03/04/2011 11:29

too far for me sadly appleslice
I like the idea of the Botox stopping damage while you have it - hadn't thought of that at all.

TheBolter · 05/04/2011 10:06

Consultation booked for this afternoon! Aaaargh! Excited but really nervous!

cybbo · 05/04/2011 17:57

how did you get on?

TheBolter · 05/04/2011 18:40

Hi cybbo, well it went as well as a botox consultation could I guess! Dentist v informative, had had it done himself, as had his nurse, both of whom had quite startlingly youthful eyes. No denying that they looked good though, and the effects were subtle.

I'm definitely going to go for it, my only doubts are:

  1. Cost (was quoted £300 for two areas). I know it's not much to some but it is quite a lot to me.
  1. 'What if anything goes wrong' fears, although was reassured of those.
  1. The feeling of slight betrayal because I won't be telling dh... don;t know why, that just makes me feel a bit weird.

Have you had your treatment yet?

cornsilkily · 05/04/2011 20:14

I've found somewhere round here with an 'offer' on. But what if the 'offer' is permanent and they're really shit?

cybbo · 05/04/2011 20:18

No havent had mine, am booked in for easter hols! £300 sounds quite a lot...I think £240 about average ? Nodders is expert, she will know

I'm going to pay £180

Will you go ahead?

CORNY just do it. It only lasts 4 months

noddyholder · 05/04/2011 20:21

Here i am freezer face! Well I was just looking today and I think i need to go back.I had it in November and it is only now very slightly wearing off. Buyt am slightly concerned at how much I liked the effect and how quickly I am hooked. I paid 200 plus 40 for any extra areas. Apparently he is a top bloke and I am v pleased with it. Wish it was cheaper but I don't trust anyone and am a bit of a chicken but can honestly say it is pretty painless and fab£300 is a lot!

cornsilkily · 05/04/2011 21:46

yes think I will take the plunge
I want glue on eyelashes as well, but think I'll wait till just before my hols for that
It'll be a boob job then

noddyholder · 05/04/2011 22:20

I have had the lashes They have all dropped out now and really miss them mainly due to being a lazy arse!

noddyholder · 05/04/2011 22:20

Botox 2 minutes lashes 2 hours!

cornsilkily · 05/04/2011 22:34

are they worth it then? Sali Hughes reckons they're better than botox

cybbo · 05/04/2011 22:48

lol at us lot and our 'interventions'

I think my lady at clinic was mooting a chemical peel as a treatment for me- but I/m def not brave enough for that. Would hate to be red and oozy. I've ggogled before and afters though and the effects can be amazing

cornsilkily · 05/04/2011 22:55

wish I was rich - I'd do the lot Grin
