New thread here!

bloss Good point! Burberry trench would be good investment piece for our fifties. 40s can still be a little bit more flippant, right? Oh God, I think I am a bit drunk already. Finished bottle of Prosecco with DH and will be shattered tomorrow. Night all!

OllieWollieWoo · 01/04/2011 23:18

Am completely sozzled after wine tasting - tried 3 whites and then a lovely rose which was so nice, me and 2 Mums left with the rest of the bottle (plus 2 more) and went and sat in the lounge for a lovely chat leaving the rest to sample the reds (which I don't drink). (Chat included bits of school gossip - at which I made the following faces: Smile Wink, Shock, Hmm and a big Grin that my weight loss have been mentioned amongst some of the Mums - not that I approve of playground gossip you understand esp when I am the subject - but was secretly very pleased! (Less so at the Mum who when I mentioned we were taking boys to a dinosaur museem, suggested I call ahead to make sure they were prepared for my two running around the place!)

Anyway, feeling all warm amd fuzzy so a big mwah to you all - you are all such lovely ladies.

Fritzi - I may be sozzled but can still recognise a good trench when I see one - love the BR one but think the Zara one would suit you more?

carciofi · 02/04/2011 08:13

Burberry trench as a 50th birthday present is a great idea. I want one but don't think I'll get one for a while.

OWW, sounds like a fun evening. I will be buying a very nice bottle of red wine when the baby is here. Scratch that, it'll be pink champagne!

I feel like the wreck of the Hesperus today, sore throat and had just got to sleep when DH came in and started snoring. I went to sleep on the sofa but throat was sore and I got in a temper thinking about my in laws!

This [http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Tops-T-shirts/Short-Sleeved-Tops/WL582/Womens-Twist-Jersey-Top.html?m=3 Boden top]] came yesterday, not very exciting but nice on though quite a low neckline ... I think it will look good with Houlihans.

Bloss, how is the sizing on Wrap t-shirts please? I like this and there is a free delivery code in Red magazine (which I can post later, when the snorer vacates the bedroom!).

carciofi · 02/04/2011 08:17

oops

Ants, hope you are feeling better.

blossoming · 02/04/2011 09:24

carciofi, I have ordered that top too from Wrap, but they're out of stock and not delivering till the beginning of June. Apart from the red stripe one. I think it will be a cornerstone of my wardrobe when it arrives! I'm still struggling to find something that will go with the shorts.
The Boden top does look quite low, and terrible colours for me. The taupe is the only 'winter' colour there. Sorry you had a bad night. My DH is a snorer too.
DH was very appreciative of the way I looked last night. I don't think they realise the time and effort, apart from money, that it takes! And they think we just fling anything on!
Hope everyone has a healthy weekend! It is brightening up here so going to go on a walk/bike ride this afternoon, then tomorrow I'm avoiding the mother's day service this year and taking DS to play rugby a good hour away, but close to my brother, so we can call on them before their new baby comes next month. Hoping to have a carvery pub lunch, but if not, I shall be very happy with a bag of chips on the beach.

ollie Your night out sounds like great fun! And what could be better than others commenting on weight-loss

ants How are you today?

bloss That is a great blazer. Would be perfect for spring in Rome. Your plans for tomorrow sound great!

everyspring Must be a relief for you to get on better with ex but confusing too.

Hello all. Am feeling much better today. Sorry for misery post but I had just reached the end of the line! I know you all know what I mean. Thanks for your kind thoughts. Some lovely lovely links.

exhausted I have seen you in your houlis. You have a wonderful figure. So sorry to see you so down on yourself. As for bras I actually prefer nude now. I get my bras from rigby and pellet in west field. They measure you by sight and are always spot on. My breasts are much lower after breastfeeding two children. I am now a saggy 34F and find it really difficult to get clothes that fit me as a result. I do half heartedly consider breast reduction but am really scared of the surgery. Anyway a good fitting bra always helps me feel better so maybe try rugby And peller (also on regents st).

ooh what great gossip!!

Have just spotted these on the Zara website....may have to get a pair.

www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-S2011/61144/269087/BALLERINA

I am fancying them in orange or possibly red....

petitdonkey · 02/04/2011 14:47

Ants - glad you are feeling better. I had a breast reduction after my second child (I had gone up to a J cup in both pregnancies). I was thrilled with the result but then got pregnant again (unplanned) and they are now not as bad as before but not great at all. It's an invasive surgery though and I wouldn't consider it again.

AntPants1 · 02/04/2011 14:47

bloss the other place with nice short sleeve style brettons is Kew. I have a couple of these and they are great for the summer.

www.kew-online.com/fcp/product/womens-clothing/t-shirts-&-tops/Stripy-Puff-Sleeve-Scoop/99902781

AntPants1 · 02/04/2011 14:49

Oops it was carciofi who was pondering short sleeved brettons....

AntPants1 · 02/04/2011 14:53

Really petit perhaps if we do manage a meet I could have a chat about it. Thing is most people roll their eyes when I tell them I hate being so large but really they give me terrible back ache (for which I see a physio) and and just feel so big on me....I do know that it is major surgery and that does put me off. Also i have two young children so it really would impact on the whole family. That said I stopped breastfeeding in october and I seem to have settled on 34f and unfortunately do not seem to be getting any smaller...

carciofi · 02/04/2011 15:06

Ants, glad you are feeling better. Nice bretons. There is a Kew nearby so might walk over with DD now as we have to get earplugs for me for tonight. :) Exhausted, victim of snoring really made me laugh so thanks!

The Wrap red t-shirt is the colour I want so might order that. I am returning the Boden top, decided that if it fits me now when I am 30 weeks pregnant, it is hardly going to look right afterwards.

Fritzi, have you looked at Weekend by Max Mara trenches? I have one and it is still in perfect condition after three years. Half the price of Burberry too!

Bloss, lovely blazer.

I would wreck these sandals as they are suede but aren't they lovely?

carciofi · 02/04/2011 15:06

Ants, one of my friends had a breast reduction years ago, she said it was the best thing she had ever done and has never regretted it.

HaricotVert · 02/04/2011 15:39

Hello ladies, can I join?
you have been an ultimate spring wardrobe guide.Thank you very much!!

Bloss, i have bought that blazer last week - its v nice, heavy material and good cut.

Got celine sandals from b.alley(sorry can't link them),pleased apart from sizing - 39 on the box and 38.5 in real life..so kept as 38.5 is my actual size :))

carciofi · 02/04/2011 15:44

Hi Haricot, that was fortuitous!

Having a chat with my dd, her accent is now a mixture of English, Irish and American, it is funny. She calls "hey, you guys" when she wants something today.

OllieWollieWoo · 02/04/2011 16:10

What a lovely day - pottered round the nice market we have every Saturday and brought a huge bunch of pale pink peonies (for 5e - one of the perks of living here). Then have spent all afternoon in the garden, clearing all the debris from the winter from the beds etc. Not a big fan of gardening but do like the sense of achievement it gives (sad but true!)

Carciofi - I literally just ordered that Boden top in taupe right before I read your post! I'm hoping it will do as an everyday top to wear with white jeans and pewter ballet shoes. Wrap tops are lovely - shame about the long wait. Hope you are feeling better today. DS1 talks English with a London accent (goodness knows why as I'm don't) and DS2 talks English with a strong Dutch accent - v cute.
Ants great Zara shoes - love the orange ones.
HaricotVert hello and welcome. Lovely blazer.
Bloss am liking the sound of your planned Sunday (esp the chips on the beach part!)
Everything hope you are feeling better too.

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2011 16:12

bouncingberries great news re present, well done your dh.

fritzi I like all three, but considering price difference Zara seems a good buy.

Ollie well done on compliments. Very good stuff. Smile

exhaustednurse I hope you are having a really lovely weekend.

Ants great ballet shoes. Love the colours, might get some too.

Hi Haricot Celine sandals sound really lovely.

Carciofi that is cute, accents are the first to change aren't they. Unless you older then they stay the same for years. Or always.

Party was really, really great. The flowers, food and cake were fab. But the entertainer really made it. He was absolutely hilarious and easily entertained 20 x six year olds. And the friends and other siblings who stayed.

I had an great time, and dh and I have done the post-event discussion and decided it was the best we've done (do you do that; post-event analysis with your dh?) Grin.

Am in massive gardening mode now, and planting loads of flowering stuff and preparing dirt etc.

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2011 16:13

x-post with you Ollie. Both gardening!

ApuskiDusky · 02/04/2011 16:59

Hello all!

Welcome HaricotVert - quick learning on the links! Love the top and Hush dress (can't go wrong with either), both would be great with your new blazer, not keen on the bow dress myself.

Funny how a bit of sun makes us all realise we need more summer clothes!

Marsha, the party sounds great. I have a dread of such things, and have avoided the need for parties by being on holiday over ds1's birthdays so far as he hasn't been interested; but I suspect from here on in we will have to join in!

Ants, hope you enjoy G. Heyer - which one did you get? The Grand Sophy is my fave. And glad you're feeling better now after the fever.
