Hi there ladies!

OP posts:
petitdonkey · 12/03/2011 09:18

Ollie & carciofi - I looked at the adults section of the Joules catalouge this morning and found myself liking some bits!! Wondered if I should step away slowly..... But their children's stuff is lovely quality so I might pick up some basics.

exhausted - I really know what you mean about missing the freedom to have a few hours just mooching about the shops. When I do get some free time it is always against the clock because the children are at school or with a babysitter. I remember when I first lived in London I would just pop into Covent Garden after work and if I didn't get home until ten, it didn't matter!! Even though DH would never try to keep track of me in the sense of telling me what to do, it does always seem only fair to text or call and let him know where I am.... Rambling sorry! Love my DH and DC so much but I do sometime contemplate doing a runner Grin

Anyway, lazy Saturday morning means that I have just ordered these in camel - opinions??? I feel like they might see me through spring. I wore ballet pumps yesterday and was freezing!! Thing I like about ASOS is that you end up buying stuff from places that you wouldn't go into, I never shop in Karen Millen.

FritziGreenEyes · 12/03/2011 09:34

marsha I can relate to feeling bleurgh... Looking at myself in the mirror under the harsh lights at hairdresses and the lines on my face and dark shadows under my eyes are shocking! Hope there will be dim lighting at meet-up venue.

I miss shopping after work too! As I was doing freelance work while we were in London I would often finish work in the early afternoons or had whole days off. Oh the luxury!!! Sad thing is that I never really appreciated it. Felt very lonely at the time.

blossoming · 12/03/2011 10:13

I think it would be handy to have a photo of everyone up this week so I can start cramming for next week! I feel I know you all so well I will feel rude if I don't recognize you instantly!

Sorry for all early risers: ds came out of school crying yesterday as he was feeling poorly. Fell asleep at 4.30 on the sofa, dh carried him to bed at 6 and he slept till 4.45 am. Dh went to his room till 6 - normal get up time.

Well done on the platforms fritzi.

I have worn Joules and dh wore their cords to death.

Off to the post office with even more returns. How to sneak the JC boots past DH?

FritziGreenEyes · 12/03/2011 10:29

marsha I saw pale pink trousers at Zara yesterday but cannot find link as pics are so tiny on iPhone.

bloss It would be great to have a photo of everyone before next Sat. I'm hopeless at memorizing names but I will be easy to recognize: The one in sequin dress, tottering on heels, clinging onto a glass of champagne and getting all her prepositions wrong.

everything I'm speechless at your mother's comment. She should be supportive and praise you for what a wonderful Mum you are. Shove everything that hasn't been unpacked into a room, firmly close the door, lie on the sofa and have a lovely weekend with DS.

I keep thinking: This time next week I'll be in London doing x or maybe y or maybe z, no obligations except having a good time! I'm even looking forward to the travelling part as there will be no calls for drink/food/toilet/reading stories etc etc

carciofi · 12/03/2011 10:33

Lovely boots Petit.

Thanks Marsha, I am fine, just hate the anniversary and glad now that it is over.

I might try Joules then.

Is your DS ok now, Bloss?

pickledsiblings · 12/03/2011 10:36

Morning all Smile.

Everything, it is so easy to get into that kind of cycle. The easiest way to break it is to do something completely different just as you have planned. Don't be so hard on yourself. You have just made a huge step in the right direction in terms of giving both you and DS a chance at a better life. It's bound to be tough initially and you may even mourn for 'parts' of your old life. You are a very brave lady and an inspiration to your DS who will thank you no end when he realises just how brave you have been (it may take him until he's in his 20s to realise though Grin). Looking forward to meeting you next weekend.

Marsh, get that photo up!

petit, nice boots but I'm not sure how comfy they would be (a little high but no platform)

carcofi, I love how you are planning your post baby wardrobe. Hope you are feeling well in your pregnancy. Does DD know?

fleecy, good wishes to you too.

OWW Grin at the image of you in heels. None of us will notice once we've had a drink or four two.

MrsCB are you sure you can't make it?

Fritzi, meant to say, you'd never guess that you are a non native speaker by how you write. That must be more difficult than speaking. Are you German?

I love the idea of mooching around the shops after work. Have never worked in a city so I can only imagine how fab it would be.

MrsJ...the clock is ticking...

FritziGreenEyes · 12/03/2011 10:51

pickled ahh, you see writing is much easier as I have time to think and can pause mid-sentence, plus writing is accent-free Smile. I try not to worry about it too much though and yes I'm German.

MrsMB is not coming? You will be missed!

vinosaur · 12/03/2011 12:37

Ooh weird, I have a sharp bit on the bridge of my nose when I touch it- ave never had that before Confused I could post a pic of current nose but it may make you go 'bleurgh' Grin

I am still really confused about jobs. Because I think I'm going to go for the higher salary, nice, clean, office job- but then I get sad thinking about what I might be throwing away. I have managed to make both think I am slightly unhinged by asking for another week or two before I start- think I will have to just suck it up and take the 'sensible' one and tell them on Monday I don't need extra time, and say no (NO) to the one I want

sorry for being all self-centred and not at all S&B.
On the plus side, I get to wear lots of new clothes to work if I take the boring sensible job- Grin

blossoming · 12/03/2011 12:54

Like everyone, I hope you have a lovely weekend everything. You have been very brave, go easy on yourself.

Your nose is still sounding painful vino. What about some online shopping as a painkiller?

Meant to say earlier fritzi, I was very lonely when I lived in London too. For the first year I lived with my xb, then when we split I realised I knew absolutely no one. I spent a lot of time walking from Islington, through the city and along the Thames to Trafalgar Sq, just to make time pass quicker.
Didn't stop me missing it when I left though!

I have had such bad luck this week with my shopping. I'm going to stop now and wait till next weekend. I want to try on a grey trench in Banana Republic (if they've got them in store), I want to find a great white shirt, and I'm thinking of spending some time with the sunglasses in HN to see whether aviators suit me or not.
DH is fine about it right now, buy I can imagine this will change by next Friday. He hates it when I go away.
DS is a pathetic sight carciofi. The bump from when he fell off his bike last week has resulted in a nasty black eye - all yellow and green. He's really pale and has no energy. He has had ham and chips for lunch (!) and is wearing: A Welsh rugby shirt, with his grandad's red and green stripy tie, with a lumberjack shirt over it (one from M&S with a grey hoody thing attached. He looks COOL!!
OMG I almost forgot. I may not be talking to carciofi, verity, kildare or rufus later on. pickled are you Irish too? Wink.

vinosaur · 12/03/2011 13:02

Fritzi- 'I will be easy to recognize: The one in sequin dress, tottering on heels, clinging onto a glass of champagne and getting all her prepositions wrong' Grin you are hilarious, you will be the supermodel with the perfect English. Your English is far superior to mine! I'm guessing you studied it at school? I mean seriously I think your English is much more accurate and fluent than most native speakers

I did get the VWA top by the way but it's very low cut on me- it's lovely, but probably needs some magic tape to keep it in place at the shoulders- am keeping it as think it would be great for loads of different things and would be good with smart and casual clothes (hopeful)

oh and the paul smith dress - well, the 8 was too small on my legs (great) but the 10 was enormous all over, so both have been returned (wise!).. I also tried on a few in M&S in real life as I work near a large one, but nothing really fitted me very well (I blame the shrunken chest!)

everything sorry to hear you're feeling like that at the moment, but sounds like you've got so much on your plate and you're doing a fantastic job of it all, don't be hard on yourself.

vinosaur · 12/03/2011 13:05

bloss naturally, online shopping is a very good analgesic. I am trying to get on the gap website for some baby clothes as my monster DS is busting out of everything (14 months but 18 months is too small on the giant) but it's not loading on my laptop!

vinosaur · 12/03/2011 13:09

bloss your DS sounds very cool, hope he's better soon.

Well, if gap's not working- where to go.. hmm.. nap..

MrsCampbellBlack · 12/03/2011 15:05

Afternoon - bought this in JL today - nice and flattering - look at photo on model or video to see.

Think it will be a good everyday summer dress.

carciofi · 12/03/2011 16:06

Bloss, DH asked me if my Welsh friend (you) had mentioned the match! He will be disappearing off soon to watch it.

Vino, your poor nose! That top is fab. It must be a hard decision but the money will come in useful for you and your DS. I agree, Fritzi's English is perfect.

Lovely dress, MrsCB. It reminds me of the dress Nicole in the Renault ads used to wear.

Pickled, I am so bored of materntiy clothes! We tell DD that she will have a sister (well, if the scan is correct, hope so or I will have a boy in pink as have been buying some things for the baby!)but I don't think she takes it in.

blossoming · 12/03/2011 16:33

I have just been on tenterhooks watching the Italy France game carciofi. There's no way I can watch the Wales one! We always let Ireland win in Wales anyway!

pickledsiblings · 12/03/2011 17:21

MrsCB, I so wanted that dress but DH said 'no'. He is anti spots which is not great as there are a lot of them about next AW.

bloss, yes I am Irish (NI) but not a follower of rugby. Glad you're enjoying it Smile.

blossoming · 12/03/2011 17:33

I have got MOAMU outfit (day, Sat), sorted.

KILDARE4 · 12/03/2011 17:37

Thought you were watching the rugby!

KILDARE4 · 12/03/2011 17:38

Please share, what are you planning on wearing?Smile

pickledsiblings · 12/03/2011 17:39

What about evening Sat bloss?

KILDARE4 · 12/03/2011 17:44

( you only get one chance to make a first impression!)Grin

kildare, I've been nominated in charge of dd! My NI friend is texting me updates (annoying!).

Let's just say kildare, it is very me, and I will be instantly recognisable at 10 paces!

So Saturday day, Saturday night (DVF Bec, no one else has it in my colourway I don't think!), Sunday breakfast (still working on this one, this may require a bigger bag).

Hope you have a better night tonight everything.

pickledsiblings · 12/03/2011 19:05

Outfits sound great Bloss.

We are having a mad Spring clean here today - arrgh how I hate cleaning! Nevermind, have lovely Easter holiday in Turkey to look forward to.

Haven't given much thought to other outfits yet.

MarshaBrady · 12/03/2011 19:12

Hair done! Tick!

Geez Covent Garden is bad on the weekend. Also reminded me of when I used to work there. Blech!
