Hi there ladies!

OP posts:
vinestein · 19/03/2011 10:00

I've made a bit of a mess of something at work this week- argh- and P turned up at my office with DS in tow Shock I feel like he's stalking me!

In other news what to wear on first day of new job? I think suit skirt and new shirt? Or silk top? or is silky top too girly and unprofessional for a first day? full on suit? black dress? jacket? yikes

OllieWollieWoo · 19/03/2011 10:01

On the garwick express! Am already far too hot on this coat! Wish od brought sunnies!

vinestein · 19/03/2011 10:04

exhausted sorry to hear about little DS Sad and I know the overstretched feeling. I am trying to calculate how on earth I will manage to drop DS off in childcare, get to the station, get to work, and get back to pick him up. The timings just don't work out at all with the locations. And childcare has already booked her holidays this year and I don't see how I can take 3 weeks off work in one go Confused
have been sent a scary induction email with spreadsheeted attendance in 10 minute slots for the first 4 weeks of my new job Shock I usually waft in with pain au chocolat and coffee 15-30 mins late, self direct my work, leave when I like.. oh dear!

ApuskiDusky · 19/03/2011 10:04

Oh no exhausted, sorry to read that ds isn't well. At least you've spotted the work mistake quickly, hope it is recoverable.

notyummy · 19/03/2011 10:12

Exhausted - I know EXACTLY the feeling you describe, and its not nice. Sending get well wishes for your DS.

ABO - Thanks for the lovely message.

Weather is glorious here. Have just been out pottering the garden in my exercise gear and didn't feel cold at all. About to double shred with DH.

blossoming · 19/03/2011 10:15

That's my cardio taken care of. I just ran back up 3 flights of escalators as there is no Victoria line tubes today. I'm in a cab. Oh well!

oh exhausted sending you best wishes - what a shocker of a day you had. It's not easy being a working mum, I hope you have a decent weekend and DS is on the mend very soon.

vin sounds like the curse of billable hours - common in your industry, no? 3 weeks sounds like a long time for your childminder to be off in a row - how are the other parents going to cope? Perhaps you could share with them rather than take the whole 3?
Good luck with the new job and outfits!

bloss and olly love the real time updates, this is v exciting, like "challenge anneka"!

VerityBrulee · 19/03/2011 11:00

Thanks everyone, dd not too bad, but I have her bug Sad I can't believe it. Should be at airport now. Urgh, could cry. Dc are so disappointed for me and being really kind.

Sorry Bloss feel like I am leaving you in lurch re hotel. Will pm you. Got to lie down. Please take lots of pictures.

FritziGreenEyes · 19/03/2011 11:32

Verity nooooo!!!! Poor you, we'll miss you...

I just caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror and I'm as white as a sheet. Feel better now after a huge plate of eggs benedict with hollandaise on brioche and a pot of tea. Will now be reading the paper, ahhh, what an indulgent day Smile

I may have to buy a BR trench. And wear it right away!!

Fleecy · 19/03/2011 12:00

verity so sorry to hear that. What a shame Sad

Am now on train about to depart. Sure I must have forgotten something but too late now...

roary · 19/03/2011 12:55

I too have succumbed to ds' bug. Am hoping to rest and pull myself together by 4 but is unlikely.....so think I will miss you :( :(

Zembo · 19/03/2011 13:01

Verity such a shame but hope you get well soon. I'm also on the train now. Delayed by 20 mins which felt like forever and I had the nasty Heathrow feeling of 'OMG it might get cancelled' I've probably forgotten something too, it was all a bit of a rush at the last minute. Hopefully see some of you soon for food!

notyummy · 19/03/2011 13:11

Verity- soooooo gutted for you. Hope you feel a lot better soon.

Roary- Really hope you make it. Sorry to hear you don't feel great.

Everything- natural to feel nervous for the reasons you have outlined. Hopefully once relaxation and wine are applied you will feel a bit better. See you soon.

At station. Train due to arrive on time.

FritziGreenEyes · 19/03/2011 13:53

I'm exhausted already and need another coffee break or even a little nap in quiet corner at Starbucks. Haven't bought or tried on much but there is still time tomorrow Grin.

Roary hope you'll feel better soon!

AntPants1 · 19/03/2011 14:06

bloss what IO russhed dress?!

vin and exhausted so sorry to hear about your work dilemas. Another working mum here so totally understand. 3 weeks does sound like a long time for childminder to be off. Perhaps you could get together with parents of other mindees share the childcare as someone else suggested???

So sorry verity and roary. What horrible timing! Sat in a pizza expresz eating goats cheese salad, wearing breton! Brought the km trench coat, lovely manager gave me a discount as offer on in holland but not here! Spent lots on new make up too: laura mercier tinted moisturiser & lip gloss , bare escentals starter kit and grey ysl mascara! Will look like clown later!
