Would you wear Converse All Star (style) shoes

I have always loved Converse All Star style shoes but my younger sister and little boy live in them in the summer. I have always been put off thinking I would be to old (even though I'm only 25) and look silly in themSad .

I have lived all winter in jeggings and leggings with denim skirts with Doc Marin boots laced half way with ribbonGrin. The converse would look good with my clothes (not so sure about my size 7 big feet) but I keep thinking Im a 'punk/rock/biker women' not a 'skater girl'Confused.

Do any other mums on here wear Converse All Star's?

I'm 36 and have a black plimsole pair. I need to save up and get red or burgundy this spring.

pointydog · 12/02/2011 13:45

I would, yes. But I went for gola instead.

Lazyem · 12/02/2011 14:41

I've just bought my first pair, but not sure what jeans to wear them with. Tried them with my skinnies and I looked ridiculous (I have legs like Olive Oyl!!) , so would straight leg or boyfriend fit be better?

Oh and I'm 34! Grin

AnyFucker · 12/02/2011 14:43

I wear mine with straight or boyfriend fit

a skinny flare is ok too, but they don't suit me

Lazyem · 12/02/2011 14:44

Thanks! Skinny flare don't suit me either, but have seen some nice boyfriend fit so I'll give those a try.

twirlymum · 12/02/2011 14:50

I have my red converse on today, with jeans, and it's my 39th birthday!

Rhian82 · 12/02/2011 14:50

I'm 29 and I do :-)

NancyDrewHadaClue · 12/02/2011 15:31

I'm 30's and wear them - they are fairly standard school run uniform.

thecatatemygymsuit · 12/02/2011 15:34

42 and yes I do!

DancingThroughLife · 12/02/2011 16:36

Also, we're getting 39 year old DH his first pair next week. Although part of me wants to wait until later in the year when DD will be walking and they can get their first pairs together. Then I might be able to time it with my next pair too Grin

I wear mine with boyfriend fit jeans. Comfiest combo ever.

ragged · 12/02/2011 16:38

No, too much hassle to lace them up properly!
They look fine, on any age imo, just not practical enough for me.

sweetcat · 12/02/2011 16:40

I'm 41 and I love them, shoes only though. I have purple ones and pink ones. Love Doc Martens too Grin

they are a well established mum fashion cliche

AnyFucker · 12/02/2011 16:55

and ?

bambiandthumper · 12/02/2011 17:01

I'm 29 and love my white ones.

Moosemummy · 12/02/2011 17:02

Nearly 50 and they are my favourite shoes EVER

TobyLerone · 12/02/2011 20:59

I have a grey double-faced/double-laced pair (shoes), which my 11 year-old son has taken a shine to, and I have to wait until he's outgrown them before I can have them back Angry

TobyLerone · 12/02/2011 20:59

Ooohh, I'm 33 btw

Tical · 12/02/2011 21:01

You aren't tool old, don't be so silly, woman!

I quite like that Converse / boyfriend jeans look I see some women wearing, but I find them incredibly uncomfortable.

CointreauVersial · 13/02/2011 00:16

I don't think I've ever seen anyone wear them on the school run (maybe it hasn't hit rural Surrey, or maybe it has and I just don't look at enough feet). I keep hearing about them on MN, though.

I last had a pair when I was 18.

What do you ladies wear them with? Skinny jeans? Don't they make you look like a golf-club?

DS1 (who is 11) told me he quite fancies a pair, so maybe we can share, like TobyLerone. Grin

ChablisLover · 13/02/2011 09:36

love them - both the boots and plimsolls. Have about 6 pairs

Was beginning to feel a tad old (35) for them but shall continue to wear them with pride.

Wear them with jeans all the time

MilliONaire · 13/02/2011 10:26

I had a fab pair of plain white leather ones which I wore to death but sadly I cannot wear them anymore as they are too flat for me & I have a hip problem related to giving birth. I have been really struggling to find suitable alternatives to the summer converse/ballet flats I used to live in...Sad

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 13/02/2011 11:04

Hey, you have the same DM boots as me I think! Purple? But I swapped the ribbon for the laces as it kept coming untied...

Nothing wrong with Converse, very classic part of yer emo/punk look.

FluffyMummy123 · 13/02/2011 11:05

yes unless you are yself skinny they do look odd with skinnoids

i HATE coloured ones ewewew

" ooh look at me im quirky"
