Mine...
Bourjois bio detox foundation. One of the worst i've ever tried. Patchy, blotchy, horrid texture, impossible to blend.
Also..MAC's Newly Minted matte eyeshadow. What a disappointment! The colour is gorgeous. I chose matte finish as have quite oily lids and thought it would therefore have better staying power. I used with their Painterly base and it still wouldn't stay put! It creased terribly within half an hour.
Has anyone else found this re Mac eyeshadows? Am i applying wrong? Used a sponge applicator.

the lancome one is fine

coastgirl · 01/02/2011 16:00

I like Benefit dandelion/Thrrob but just bought some light pink blush from Boots Natural Collection (3 items for £5!) and swirled it on with a good brush and it's practically the same. Also, have been told I "look well" today so not bad for under 10% of the price.

Gillybobs · 01/02/2011 16:07

ENorma - have to agree, Ive never used up or re-bought any No7 products. Poor.

wendihouse22 · 01/02/2011 16:28

Lily Lilo....made me look like I'd trowelled it on.

Lancome lippies smell utterly awful.

Dr Nick Lowe Eye Cream - watery and hopeless if you want to put undereye concealer on within 2 hrs of application!

Benefit Lemonaid. Made me look hollow eyed. I went back to the counter and asked the assistant to show me how to apply. She did it for me.....lots of ooooing and aahhhhhing and.......I still looked like I'd been dug up, when I got home.

I think these cosmetics companies see us coming a mile off. Just like the King's New Clothes. We SO, SO want to believe!!

sweetheart · 01/02/2011 16:30

cybbo · 01/02/2011 16:32

Gatineau Eye Cream

CRAp and about £40

Bloody QVC

kerstina · 01/02/2011 16:46

Clarins Superbalm or the cheaper one from superdrug could not see any improvement and made my skin feel tight.
Neals yard frankinsense gave me an allergic reaction.
Also agree the Elizabeth Arden 24 hr is horrible.
Expensive mistakes.

lololizzy · 01/02/2011 18:00

ooh Lemonaid horrid..greasy creasy!
Really disappointed re the MAC shadows as had always read rave reviews ie highest pigment/ best colour range. Yes they do look amazing in the store..All so tempting and 'buy me buy me'! i thought, well if they're so good i probably wont need a base for them..but just in case, as do have oily lids, i forked out on their Painterly base too..what a waste! What is the point of having great colours and high pigment if they don't chuffing stay on!!!! It wasn't just messy in the crease line..it was working its way up to brow and down to below my lower lashes even though had only applied to upper lid. I looked like my 3 yr old niece had applied it with her fingers.
What about the MAC pigment pots of loose powder? anyone tried? how best to apply? or should i really admit defeat on MAC.
To be honest, i found cheaper Sue Moxley and Sleek shadows better.

defending No7 (but not all their products..some are horrendous) the P&P serum really does need to be used with a moisturiser and never on its own. I'm oily and it still dries the hell out of my skin if used alone.
But their Shine Free matte base, and Instant Radiance wand, i cannot live without . I prefer the wand to any other, and the Shine Free is my desert island product. I dab it over the top of finished makeup, it's a godsend for shiny souls..

re the frankincense...i buy a bottle of the pure essential oil and add a drop or two to moisturiser or facial oil. Far more effective as a higher concentration..and economical.

maybelline mascaras,

maybelline eraser foundation

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/02/2011 18:09

ALL maybelline make up in fact.

bag o'shite.

lololizzy · 01/02/2011 18:14

yep just wasted money on the eraser foundation last week..you've reminded me. So shiny/greasy took a ton of powder to calm it down.
Also the byTerry wand concealer..say you get a smudge under eyes and need to wipe with cottonbud..the concealer goes all gloopy and won't budge and leaves a tidemark..so basically unlike the No7 etc wand you can't touch up.
Worst mascara have ever used is Bad Gal (waterproof my arse! not even sweat or hot day proof) and that Bourjois elastic one..does not lengthen, gives panda eyes in minutes.

Umm Sweetheart i did buy Bumpits but at least were only 99p on eVilbay! haven't even dare used as looking at them i can see it's going to look like 'thin hair with bits of plastic poking through'
Am getting married this year and wondering how to get around the flat hair clinging to scalp scenario (am useless at styling)

All Estee Lauder foundation turns me orange.

Yep to 8 hr gloopy brown vaseline. Vaseline vaseline much nicer and smells better too.

Bucharest · 01/02/2011 18:22

I bought one of those posher Olay creams as well- can't remember name, something pseudo scientific. £27 red pot.

Pile o'shite. Really smelly.

MrsMeow · 01/02/2011 18:46

No 7 Exquisite Curl mascara. I fancied a change from my usual (Max Factor 2000 Calorie - amazing!) but wasn't impressed at all.

BelligerentGhoul · 01/02/2011 18:54

No 7 mascara - vile and smelled of fish.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream - nasty, stinky stuff that doesn't do anything except make you sticky and smelly (it was a sample, so I didn't waste my money).

That yellow Clinique moisturiser.

TattyDevine · 01/02/2011 18:54

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage.

Dry as a fuck without foreplay.

lololizzy · 01/02/2011 18:58

Laura M tinted oil free moisturiser was disgusting on me . It was meant to be quite matte but made me look weird..like a greasy shiny glowy ghost

OP posts:
itsalarf · 01/02/2011 19:24

I have never found a more expensive product yet that I rated over a cheapy. All seem the same to me and depend on skin type I think. Agree that Bad Gal is rubbish. No7 eyeshadows no good, but their hot cloth cleanser is gorgeous - I don't even need moisturiser after it. Max Factor mascara and foundation good - maybelline bad.

Alouiseg · 01/02/2011 19:30

If you don't like Touché Éclat for under eyes, use round the lips before lip pencil and gloss. It is magic!

larakitten · 01/02/2011 19:46

Another vote for the really expensive olay face cream that comes in a flashy pump-type-dispenser. I forked out for it, thinking my skin looked a bit knackered tired but all it did was bring out huge hidous pimples along my jaw line. Huge things, all under the skin so i couldn't even pop them...Angry

Oh, and another vote for horrid purple eyeliners. I was talked into one, sold on the basis that it worked amazing when you have green eyes. Yes, I do have green eyes, but they don't look great when I look like I've slept under a bridge whilst rubbing them with rock salt.....

flippineck · 01/02/2011 20:00

I forgot the clarins beauty flash balm stuff. What is it supposed to do? Don't rub it in and look like an oil slick, rub it in and there's nothing there.

(feel a bit guilty about admitting that, DH bought it for me for my birthday, he was really proud of himself because he chose it without any help at all. Well, unless 2 year old DD counts)

Alouiseg · 01/02/2011 20:01

That yellow clinique moisturiser has got acetone in it!!!

It could be used to remove nail varnish Shock
