Mine...
Bourjois bio detox foundation. One of the worst i've ever tried. Patchy, blotchy, horrid texture, impossible to blend.
Also..MAC's Newly Minted matte eyeshadow. What a disappointment! The colour is gorgeous. I chose matte finish as have quite oily lids and thought it would therefore have better staying power. I used with their Painterly base and it still wouldn't stay put! It creased terribly within half an hour.
Has anyone else found this re Mac eyeshadows? Am i applying wrong? Used a sponge applicator.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation.

Saw lots of positive things about it on here but I hate it. £26.50 and I cant wait to get back to my usual Bobbi Brown.

Yes it covers well and it stays put... BUT, it gives my skin a really odd, unnatural colour, makes my skin look ruddy and slightly orange. It's too obvious, I want foundation that just gives me a blank canvas but it leaves my skin looking slightly rough and leathery.

Not good at all. But to be fair I do have v pale skin and very few foundations dont overwhelm my colouring.

If anyone else has the same sort of issue - go to Bobbi Brown, their slightly yellow tones work so much better than anything with even a tiny bit of orange in it (almost every other foundation I've tried).

virgo1979 · 01/02/2011 09:48

I love 8 hour cream and the garnier caffeine roll on thing...hate No7 mascaras though

virgo1979 · 01/02/2011 09:50

ooohhh forgot I bought a MAC foundation once, put it one again at home and it was indeed orange....

valiumredhead · 01/02/2011 10:00

8 hour cream IS vaselline with a dollop of citronella in it - disappointing.

I am always disappointed with Elizabeth Arden foundations.

willybreeder · 01/02/2011 10:02

Any foundation with pinky tones can make someone with yellow tones look orange - such a bad obviously made up look.
I also love 8 hour cream, got given it when had my 1st child for my cracked nips and use on my cracked lips now!
Benetint from Benefit (looks like red nail varnish) is fantastic for getting a rosy glow on cheeks, but if you don't blend quickly and lightly OR if you don't exfoliate regularly it will look crap.
I find Benefit overpriced & pretty rubbish apart from Benetint

bamboobutton · 01/02/2011 10:09

another one who wasted good money on boots perfect and protect serum. it's making my skin really dry so i now have beautiful face dandruff.

good job i had a voucher and didn't pay full price

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/02/2011 10:12

Everything I have tried from benefit has been a complete waste of money. I have come to the conclusion that it is just pretty packaging and marketing of an inferior product. Make up for teenagers or adults who don't really do make up imo.

I also don't rate YSL Touche Eclat as anything other than a highligher. You can always tell people who wrongly use it as a concealer, under lights they have a reverse panda look.

I agree with the Estee Lauder Double Wear - it's useless.

I usually love By Terry make up, but I bought a Kohl pencil recently, and I may as well have bought a Miss Sporty one for a quid. It it hard, chalky and the colour is rubbish. Will be sticking to my Estee Lauder favourite.

Also bought a Loreal Superliner - I have one of these in gunmetal and it goes on very well, however bought a black one and it is glossy - for some reason wet-look liquid eyeliner looks hideous. I feel like Souxsie without her banshees when wearing it.

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/02/2011 10:15

I also treated myself to some hair volume powder from Toni & Guy. You are supposed to sprinkle it on your roots, ruffle your hair and it miraculously boosts the volume.

Yes it does work but (a) you end up looking like you have psoriasis flakes on your head and (b) it cost £18 and you could probably get the same effect with talc at 1/10th of the price.

ENormaSnob · 01/02/2011 10:21

Anything by benefit. Especially the bad gal mascara.

Most of the no 7 products, in particular the mascaras and foundations. Just shit.

Virgin vie nail varnish.

Lancome juicy tubes, just not worth the £££ IMO

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/02/2011 10:24

Yes agree with the No 7 stuff.

DP bought me a big beauty case filled with about 100 No& eyeshadows, plus blushers and lipsticks. I never use it - the eyeshadows are useless, absolutely no pigmentation in 'em.

I had dropped hints that Christmas about the Estee Lauder beauty kits that they sell every year. he got me the No 7 one Sad. I don't drop hints about presents anymore, I give very specific and detailed instructions Grin

Adair · 01/02/2011 10:24

I love Benefit - though the foundation doesn't do anything for me- and it's totally about packaging. Am also def someone who doesn't do make-up

Iatemyskinnyperson · 01/02/2011 10:36

Mac Vintage Selection paintpot - no clour, horrible texture and GLITTER. Made my lids look scaly. And I love paint pots!

For some reason I keep buying plum/burgandy eyeliners - Raisenette and Bordeaux from MAC. They look absolutely HORRIBLE on me. Message to makeup companies - red tones near the eyes are not flattering on anyone!!

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/02/2011 10:37

I agree with burgundy eyeliners - makes me look like a rabbit with myxamatosis.

JulesJules · 01/02/2011 10:57

Hmm. Agree with GetOrf re detailed present instructions. It's like flowers, isn't it - unless you tell them you only like roses, you get chrysanths every time.

I had one of those roller ball thingies too and it dispenses far too much stuff, which you then you have to wipe off with a tissue.. I suspect the "science" behind the cold roller bit with caffeine (?) may be a bit dodgy too...

Maybelline mascaras - I know loads of people rave about them , but I find they make my lashes stiff, spikey and itchy. Every so often I think I'll try one again - with the same results.

Bourjois volume clubbing mascara gets fantastic reviews on Boots - but I thought it was awful, clumpy AND wet - went everywhere.

Mineral makeup looks dry and chalky on me - not the glowy/dewy finish they promise.

sh77 · 01/02/2011 11:03

Armani Eyes to Kill mascara. Waste of bloody 23 quid. Doesn't do what it is supposed to AT ALL. So angry.

Gillybobs · 01/02/2011 11:03

Leemon aid good for under eye circles I thought, but agree useless on lids

Bobbi Borwn Pot Rouge my waste of money - lasted about 10 mins on my cheeks

monkeysmama · 01/02/2011 11:06

This is the most useless product I've ever been embarrassed by the Space NK assistant into splashing out on.

tattycoram · 01/02/2011 11:10

Yy garnier roller ball is rubbish and protect and perfect did nothing for me either

MmeLindt · 01/02/2011 11:11

Monkeysmama
That product sounds rather rude.

Garnier rollerball thing was useless.

Touche Eclat. Just don't get it. What is it supposed to do?

monkeysmama · 01/02/2011 11:16

Grin MmeLindt.

TheGratefulDead · 01/02/2011 11:23

ALL lancome lipsticks. They're oily and smell so strong, they even leave a bitter after taste in your mouth. Yuk!

AmazingDisgrace · 01/02/2011 11:38

Loreal Aqua Physics moisturiser. It is the opposite of what it says on the tin, it actually dries my skin out. Very odd seems to have no moisturising properties whatsoever.

missthing · 01/02/2011 12:15

Another yy to garnier rollerball bollocks. Useless.

Also vair expensive nude skincare - made my skin look like i'd been exfoliating with a brillo pad.

HonestyBox · 01/02/2011 12:31

Sorry but, Bare Escentuals mineral foundation. On me it was orange and sparkly. Lily Lolo was matte and better colours.

cornsilk · 01/02/2011 13:31

I usually get the estee lauder kit at xmas but 2009's was absolutely awful so didn't bother this time.
