THere is a big one in Kingston

Cyb · 27/01/2011 15:39

ooohh yes. One has to brave a walk through it to get to Boots out the other side

I want to pull women away from the racks of clothes and shake some sense into them

Cyb · 27/01/2011 15:40

Dead are you trialling a 'capsule wardrobe?'

MissBeehiving · 27/01/2011 16:50

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Mint Velvet for over 30's birds who like grey Wink. I do.

Cyb · 27/01/2011 17:01

yes I can see myself and in summer with brown legs and flatties

The brown would be fake not the legs

MissBeehiving · 27/01/2011 17:03

lol.

Lovely :)

southeastastra · 27/01/2011 17:04

personally i like esprit, american apparel and la redoute also m and s, some really nice stuff in the massive stores

Cyb · 27/01/2011 17:06

I find american apparel strange

those pervy ads with what looks like pre pubescent girls wearing nowt but ski pants

Dont get it

Gillybobs · 27/01/2011 17:09

I guess its each to their own, but do agree the names you mentioned are all a bit naff. Im a busty size 16 and shopping in those places makes me look mumsy. Fact.

I love:

Oasis
Zara( cant get much to fit me there though)
Mint Velvet
Ted Baker
Kookai
H&M
Limited Collection at M&S
River Island for bags and scarves

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/01/2011 17:12

I don't get American Apparel. It looks like Jean Jeannie circa 1986, but with less disco lighting.

Best shop on the High Stree bar none - French Connection.

I also like All Saints and Mango

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/01/2011 17:12

Oh yes Ted Baker - but there isn't one near me unfortunately.

BelligerentGhoul · 27/01/2011 17:15

I have got a couple of good buys (only dresses) in Phase Eight recently - you have to sift through lot of extremely unpleasant suff to find the nice things though.

Also I've had a couple of nice bits in sales at The White Company and I quite like some of the things in M&S Autograph.

My current thing is to buy very few things but buy better.

I can't stand New Look. H&M has some occasional bits but, again, there's a lot of crap too. V cheap though, if you do find something you like.

BelligerentGhoul · 27/01/2011 17:17

Agree re the American Ap ads - deeply unpleasant.

southeastastra · 27/01/2011 17:17

i guess i just love the sloppy american apparel style

it's supercool but maybe i should grow up gracefully instead Grin and wear twinsets

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/01/2011 17:19

Belligerent - I fell in love with a dress from Phase 8 a couple of months ago and bought it in the sale. Is great for work when i need to look very smart. I bought it online because I didn't want to venture in the shop.

Mittler · 27/01/2011 17:22

I love White Stuff, but I disagree with the MN majority on virtually everything, so this is no surprise. I detest the cheap tat in the likes of H&M, and I detest anything that looks as if it might be worn by a footballer's wife (which rules out slouchy lycra and nylon stuff). I'm also fed up with hearing about Uniqlo - fine if you're within striking distance of London, but stuff all use if you're 300 miles away.

Cyb · 27/01/2011 17:23

I like Zara tops but English arse to big for Spaniard bottoms

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/01/2011 17:24

I have never set foot in White Stuff. I also can't be doing with cheap crap any more - H&M, New Look, Primark, Next, Topshop (or perhaps I am just too old for it)

Cyb · 27/01/2011 17:24

white stuff SOOOO boring

BelligerentGhoul · 27/01/2011 17:27

Zara drives me insane - the shops are so messy, there are never enough staff and nothing ever fits me anyway, even if do (rarely) find something I like. I forgot to mention Hobbs - lots of it is horrible but I like their jackets and accessories - love their shoes too but even the size 3 there is too big for me.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 27/01/2011 17:29

God this thread is hideous! All turning your noses up at ordinary shops like you're loaded....well if you are good for you...but gt some CLASS to go with your cash and stop mincing about like princesses!

All that "God I detest this and can't cope with THAT!" about shops which most people use regularly...it's all probably bollocks anyway! I bet the worst offenders LIVE in M&S and Debenhams!

Whipmawhopma · 27/01/2011 17:30

Cyb, that's such a Mumsnet thing to say (the White Stuff comment, that is). Grin

southeastastra · 27/01/2011 17:31

at mincing about

Whipmawhopma · 27/01/2011 17:34

Wimple, would prefer fuddy duddy M&S and Debenhams over tacky H&M and Zara any day. Smile

EdgarAleNPie · 27/01/2011 17:35

surely we are allowed to have one item of clothing from each place? it's just being a head-to-toe mannequin for Emma Ness is bad.

i think this one coul dbe approved though they don't make the clothes look v. nice in the pictures. I live too far away to visit their shop

and Get Cutie surely would be approved for at least one item?
