Don't get me started on ready chopped onions

midnightexpress · 27/01/2011 17:26

Yes it is Geordie, but the thingumy lady works in the EK one. Also, the top floor of the EK one is a bit depressing. Like a room full of unwanted Xmas presents.

However I am completely transfixed by the fish that nibble the dead skin from your feet in EK shopping centre. WHAT?

geordieminx · 27/01/2011 17:33

Oooh they have them at SB too, but it is always the hairy hoofed mingers that are queuing up to have a go ( most likely because no one else will go within 10 metres of their trotters).... Would you really want to put your feet in the water after them??? Grin

midnightexpress · 27/01/2011 17:35

Eww. The only person I've ever seen on the EK one was a schoolboy of about 12. I reckon his mum was using him as a guinea pig.

RIZZ0 · 27/01/2011 17:54

Errr GetOrf - do you make any exception for Sofrito?

FluffyMummy123 · 27/01/2011 17:54

dorothy perkins is an OLD store though - been around certainly since 70s

Nah.....Debenhams depresses me horribly. When I go into Chester, I find myself in there (Debs) to play at the Mac counter.....but beyond that, I can't wait to get out of the place.

It reminds me of C&A.....remember them? A load of poorly presented tat!

I like Whitestuff. Don't do Fatface. New Look too young for me. Will now venture on the internet to shop at Seasalt, Phase 8. Also, visit the charity shops up here in Cheshire and have got some stuff that I regularly get complimented on!

NorbertDentressangle · 27/01/2011 18:27

Has anyone ever set foot into M&Co .

Now that is grim.

I went into our (admittedly small therefore limited choice) town with a school mum friend and she insisted on going in there. Not only that she bought something and she's younger than me FFS.

Its another of those shops that doesn't quite know who its aiming itself at. Maybe 50+yr old secretaries called Pauline who still like a night out down the local social club every Saturday.

Ingles2 · 27/01/2011 18:30

I got a lovely Betty Jackson leather handbag for Xmas from Debenhams though...
I've got a choice of Debenhams and Fenwick.
Fenwick wins everytime

FGM · 27/01/2011 18:35

I find Debenhams dismal too. I had a £180 gift card and it took me 5 years to spend it as I just couldn't be arsed to go in and sift through rails of embellished, thin poly-viscose trash. Still got £12 left.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 27/01/2011 19:25

The only big store we have is Debenhams Sad. Thought I was doing so well avoiding Per Una.

southeastastra · 27/01/2011 19:26

blimey fgm couldn't you have spent it on cosmetics or lovely face creams/perfume?

Meggles76 · 27/01/2011 19:30

Dreadful shop - the only time I ever venture in is when it's bonus time at the Clinique counter

SleepyCaz · 27/01/2011 19:30

Am I missing something? Ours is nice. Good kids clothes, good adult clothes, decent home stuff. I'm confused....

RIZZ0 · 27/01/2011 19:35

Norbert - there is an M&Co near me. I am tres confused by it and where it's supposed to stand in the market??

SleepyCaz · 27/01/2011 19:35

SoMuch - I have Greenwich, I love it :)

NorbertDentressangle · 27/01/2011 19:39

RIZZO -exactly! When I walk past and glance in I try and spot the "average" M&Co shopper but there doesn't seem to be one.

FGM · 27/01/2011 20:30

SEA- they don't do Bobbi Brown- so cosmetics no good and I have annoying spot prone skin that only agrees with a couple of internet-only products.

What to spend that annoying last £12 on???

TBH it's also situated at the end of a horrid shopping centre full of the kind of shops that leave me cold. I end up thinking "life's just too short for this"

StarlightPrincess · 27/01/2011 21:18

Meh, I like Debenhams. I get loads of free stuff from there...I'm not a shoplifter I promise! The latest things being a rather lovely Jasper Conran leather tote and a Julien McDonald charm necklace!

CointreauVersial · 27/01/2011 21:42

Now I'm quite often to be found in Debenhams.

Their homeware is good (just bought some leurvely fluffy towels), they have decent not-too-pricy handbags and accessories, they do Elizabeth Arden (so I can buy my fave mineral foundation), and best of all they seem to have a perpetual sale on, so I can stock up on cheap presents (i.e. shirts and stuff for my dad/brothers).

In fact, now I think about it, I can't remember the last time I paid full price for anything there. Not a great sign for a retailing success, is it?

I will even admit to being a Debs Account Holder (you get an extra 10% off, you know).

pooka · 27/01/2011 21:52

THe lighting is always sub in Debenhams. Darkand gloomy interspersed with staring-at-the-sun bright spots. Stinks too.

THe designers at Debenhams stuff is usually soooo tacky. Bloody butterflies and lots of black/bright prints.

The john rocha kids wear used to be OK (well, actually, the 10 percent of things that didn't have Rocha JohN Rocha emblazoned all over them). Still remember dd's coat when she was 5 with wistful smile. Was beautiful.

Since then though - all shit.

Not as bad as BHS though (apart from lighting and homewear).

I agree with Sophable re: Jigsaw. It used to be great but now is so dull. Nice kids clothes last time I looked but £££ for kids clothes.
