Marvellous!!!

so, my suspicions were right then. They normally leave it 45 minutes, but with the Groupon offer they only leave it 15. Obviously trying to make up the cost, but this is not going to gain them repeat business if it doesn't last, does it?

JustAnother · 24/01/2011 07:14

is it? (too early to get my gramma right)

SoundTheOctoalert · 24/01/2011 08:29

I was at a place in Glasgow, but they clearly still had to save money from their usual price somehow.

whoneedssleepanyway · 24/01/2011 09:00

this is why i am always sceptical of these groupon deals, because they tend to be places trying to build up business so perhaps are less experienced and also they are offering such a massive discount they have to recoup the cost in some way. I guess the idea behind it is that they build up a customer base and benefit from repeat businses but I think a lot of people just go to get the intitial offer so these places are now having to cut corners so they don't run at a huge loss.....will def steer clear of groupon offers on brazillian blow dries having read this.

JustAnother let us know how yours is on Tuesday.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 24/01/2011 09:18

Oh no! Sad DH bought me one, have the voucher have not yet used it... Any recommendations for a sloan I could use it that does it poperly...?

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 24/01/2011 09:20

Juat looked - the voucher says 'living social', and the choice of salons is Camden, Charlotte St or New Row in Covent Garden? Any view on these places...(hopeful)

Havingkittens · 24/01/2011 10:05

Hmmm, I think I might say something when I book mine. Ask how long it will take and if what they say is considerably less than it should be I will question it before I even go.

I like the idea of doing it at home. I think I will have a look on ebay next time.

whoneedssleepanyway · 24/01/2011 10:29

MrsGuyofGisbourne is it Eclipse that you have your voucher for, it looks like that has 3 salons in Charlotte St, Camden and Covent Garden.

eclipse

Had a quick look and some mixed reviews...

charlotte street

covent garden

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 24/01/2011 10:42

WNSA - thank you - yes, just checked, it is Eclipse Sad - the Covent Garden reviews are pretty damning! Will go for the other place and call them in advance to check who /how long etc...
VERY gratefukl to you for your help - thanks!!!!

BecauseItoldYouSo · 24/01/2011 11:35

I have had lots of Groupon/Wahanda/Living Social/KGB deals and some are great and some are so-so. I always check out the details before I book. Just investigate before booking, they are not all bad.

I only get my hair done/beauty treatments/waxing etc this way now (via deals) because of the huge saving on cost and I have been to some brilliant places (which are popular and busy) with amazing service.

Monadami · 24/01/2011 17:08

The Salon I'm due to go to for my Groupon Brazilian is in Commercial Street, London E1. Has anyone been there?

Perhaps these companies who offer Groupon deals feel because the client is paying less, their treatments should be cut in half too!

Havingkittens · 24/01/2011 18:20

Well, that's not really a special offer then is it? It's more of a pro rata offer!

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 24/01/2011 19:04

Dh just emailed me (yes, we communicate mostly that way Grin) he is a suckerhas bought another special offer form Living Social - cocktails & cheese or some such for us on the 39th floor of some building... on the pro-rata rationale, amybe theyll give us just the bread & no chees, and half a glass.. Grin still, the thought is there, luv him...

Boohooyou · 24/01/2011 19:29

I had mine done a few months ago - £80 was great.
Some days I barely had to comb my hair and it looked good.
I'm going to buy on Ebay next and try myself.

Boohooyou · 24/01/2011 19:30

lovingthesun any particular one on ebay to go for?

Mummyinthedark · 24/01/2011 19:43

I had this at the end of August last year and it was fab - and my hair still has some of the effect in it, so it has lasted mcuh longer than advertised. I have been using Tresemme products on it, which are salt free (supposedly salt free products prolong impact of the treatment).

I will go for another one as soon as I think it's not helping the texture any more.

JustAnother · 25/01/2011 09:44

actually, after all, it is not so bad. I washed it this morning and it is very silky and manageable.

Havingkittens · 25/01/2011 11:06

Phew! That's good news.

whoneedssleepanyway · 25/01/2011 11:08

That's good JA!

Funnily enough the groupon deal today is a brazillian blow dry...£75 at a supposed award winning salon but I did a quick recce on the internet and there were some damning reviews from people trying to redeem groupon vouchers there! think i am going to save my pennies and go to my trusted stylist at my regular salon!

sweetheart · 25/01/2011 11:11

loving the sun - can you link to an Ebay one - would love to try it myself.
TIA

CatIsSleepy · 25/01/2011 11:13

ooh ooh! i want to have this done for my 40th!
am quite excited about it Grin- a life without frizz, bloody marvellous

does it take ages?-i have lots and lots of hair

merlin · 25/01/2011 12:00

I am very pleased with mine. Just amazingly smooth and frizz free - quick go with the straightners on the odd random wonky bit where I've laid funny and I'm good to go!

I was going to book one of these blow dries. I had a cut and colour in Blackfriars with Groupon last week and it was fab. Have got a half price voucher so will go back. Maybe have the Brazilian hair thing done there...

Clayea · 26/01/2011 10:45

Any recommendations for where to get this done? Also I need to colour my hair on very regular basis- not brave enough to go grey yet- does this negate the effect?
