Would I be stupid to buy a wedding dress from this site?

I cannot afford one from a shop. These seem nice, and a bit of quick googling shows positive comments on bridal sites etc.

But I only trust the opinions of wise MNetters. So, any thoughts?

Another option is Oxfam - they now have 11 bridal shops across the uk, and lots of the dresses are donated by designers so you can truly grab a bargain. It says on their website that the average dress cost £250. Hope you find your dress. x

DON'T DO IT! You may never receive anything. And if you are sent something, and you don't like it - remember who you are dealing with - you probably won't be able to return it and get your money back no matter what the site says. And as someone says above, you will be hit with customs duty and VAT. Here's a duty calculator which is very helpful. Not sure if VAT is covered in the calculation. If not, add 20%.

Most importantly, remember you will wear the dress for such an important occasion and you want it to suit you. You're better off buying something in your price range which you have seen in real life.
