Morning bunny. Thanks for the compliment. Umm, no I'm not returning the red pashmina, it goes too well with my charcoal/slate palette!

Romanholiday · 21/01/2011 06:51

Gah Daily Mail. Why make that daft Cold War comment about Henry K in the middle of an article about dresses? He was the instrumental figure in the rapprochement of US and China and re-establishment of diplomatic relations.

Anyway, morning! Am also totally inspired by Bloss. Inspired to be more positive and cheerful.

I agree over discounts - nothing is a bargain only because it's 50% off. If you wouldn't have taken a second glance at full price then don't look at it in the sale. That's the problem with Outnet isn't it - you think it's a bargain, but mostly it's a jumble sale.

Romanholiday · 21/01/2011 06:52

establishment, not re-establishment, sorry

bunnymother · 21/01/2011 07:07

"Why make that daft Cold War comment about Henry K in the middle of an article about dresses?" Because if their journalist has read HK's Wiki entry or done a Google search on him, they want to try and inc. some commentary indicating they know who he is Grin. Its the most appalling paper in all respects, except for their celeb photos, which tend to be most comprehensive. I do cringe to think that the DM shapes anyone's opinion though.

Re being positive and cheerful - I think its a smart way to approach things. Things are what they are, so I tend to prefer to look at life through rose coloured glasses - makes me feel better. Hope that doesn't sound too preachy!

bunnymother · 21/01/2011 07:08

Ha ha - Daily Mail is the anti-Playboy magazine: please DON'T claim you read it for the articles!!

Well, hf at this hour it is prob the easiest newspaper to digest (being the intellectual equiv of fairy floss)... OUCH BUNNY DON'T BE A CAT!

hf128219 · 21/01/2011 07:30

I love it and get upset if the local shop has run out at the weekend

Romanholiday · 21/01/2011 07:41

Sorry have resolved to bristle at DM in silence Grin

I actually even buy the magazine Love It! sometimes. Great stories- such as 'my wife is a man' and 'I gave birth to a dog'.

Sheer escapism!

Agree that Bloss has a fabulous attitude and glad that the mini meet went well.

All this talk of the MOAM outfits is worrying me!

OllieWollieWoo · 21/01/2011 07:49

I like the DM for a quicky morning roundup, the celeb gossip and the Femail stuff but totally agree you have to careful with the 'news' articles and any viewpoint the DM tries to impose. I hate all the 'outraged of Milton Keynes' types comments too!

OllieWollieWoo · 21/01/2011 07:52

Tupperware Party was ok - I got a few things as hostess esp as people seemed to spend quite a bit - I was surprised. All the Dutchies brought cheese storage containers - made me smile - they love their cheese here!

mrsjuan · 21/01/2011 07:55

Morning all.
You make me laugh bunny Grin
Ah, the screaming stage. How I loved it. Not long until they start getting more interested in what's going on. I bet DD1 will be a great source of entertainment for them soon!

I need new foundation so my try the LM one on everyone's recommendations. Thanks.

Nice shoes sophable - you should get them cake.

I like the chainy ash high tops RLYL. I have got regular ash high tops and wear them all the time. I am short and chunky calved as well but they are fine under jeans.

Another edleman bargain www.tkmaxx.com/black-bow-ballerinas/invt/25115179/here if anyone likes them.

Ouch Plum. Arnica any use?

OllieWollieWoo · 21/01/2011 07:56

I like this idea of this navy star print dress but its shape would do nothing for mehere

mrsjuan · 21/01/2011 07:58

It doesn't do much for the model either OWW so no hope for the rest of us! She looks like she's wearing a pillow case.

mrsjuan · 21/01/2011 08:01

hf - those sort of magazines are my guilty pleasure too Blush I don't buy them but always look forward to the dentist's waiting room.

ReineDeSaba · 21/01/2011 08:07

mrsjuan I used to be a demondriller dentist and can assure you we only had Harpers and Vogue(sniffs snootitily Grin )

I sneakily look at DM online but sulked massively when DBil in States made me buy them for the free Cliff Richard dvds and my neighbour saw me..the shame!!

morning everyone Smile

ReineDeSaba · 21/01/2011 08:12

had to get up for an hour with dd2 in the middle of the night because she wanted to play Confused and refused to stay still in our bed.how on earth you manage this twice a night for the girls' feeds bunny and look so glowing I really don't know.definitely no signs of hag on you.

redllamayellowllama · 21/01/2011 08:13

Star dress looks lovely OWW, although I reckon the fabric is gong to let it down.

Thanks for advice re. Ash chains, nearly bought and then thought that if I'm going to get some Ash high-tops, would I not be better off going for a more 'classic' pair?

Re. DM, I have followed links there and their celeb pages are the best there are. Feel a little guilty for doing this as I swore I would look at the DM no more after they published the disgusting Jan Moir / Stephen Gateley article. The Liz Jones article I looked at the other day where she followed the footsteps of Joanna Yeates was also such bad journalism. I think I need to stay well away for fear of bursting blood vessels in the delicate areas of my face.

Cake Tuesday after next sounds great, likely to have both DC's in tow. Any good for other SE London ladies?

ReineDeSaba · 21/01/2011 08:14

couldn't follow your link mrsj but are they the leopard ones..love them but not my size, luckily

mrsjuan · 21/01/2011 08:15

Missed all the posts about the BR sale.
Has anybody ordered / got opinions on

this

or

this?

I would have looked forward to your waiting room too then reine Grin I always wanted to be a dentist but unfortunately discovered boys at a crucial point in my chemistry A level!

mrsjuan · 21/01/2011 08:17

Yes, they're the leopard ones. Not sure why the link doesn't work. I'm not sure about them - there's a bit too much going on in one small shoe for me! Leopard, quilting, studs, cord bow and patent toe!

bunnymother · 21/01/2011 08:38

Sounds like many of us agree re DM - good for celeb pages but not for "real" news ie serious current affairs unless I married a dog and the like count Grin. A guilty pleasure read. Although have met some whose views on immigration etc seem to be lifted straight from it's pages. Did not enjoy the conversation - depressing.

Right, climbing off soap box for quick pre-playgroup nap. I need my strength for "head, shoulders, knees and toes" etc.

hf128219 · 21/01/2011 08:51

May I ask a question?

Last weekend we had a birthday party for dd. One little girl and her parents didn't turn up (no text/phone call or reason given) - although they said they were coming. These particular people did exactly the same thing last year. They have also done the same thing to 3 other parties I know of!!

I just think this is so rude - and also quite strange.

Is is just bad manners? I have seen the mum in question twice at nursery drop off - and both times she has been on her mobile (or pretending to be to avoid me!)

I'm not sure what my question is but I just think it's a shame that the girl keeps missing parties.

Confused
