ouch plum!

oh, speaking of butterflies (re the FC tank from this morn) lots of butterfly print in new LA ranges. The girlswear is really sweet, similar to mini Boden I guess in terms of being 'fresh' 'pretty' etc but nicer I think. I would not dress my dd in mini Boden but I some of these bits I would, iyswim.

Some nice homewares as well for your domestic goddess types

launch video from last November I love the orange Hothouse stuff... some of the botanical prints are nice too although not my style

AntPants1 · 20/01/2011 17:22

Oh plum I am sorry. Bruising your coccyx is one of the most painful things you can do. I did mine about 5 months ago. I missed my step whilst walking down the stairs after doing a nightime feed for Ds as silly o clock. I simply surfed down the stairs banging my coccyx on every tree. I was in tears for days. I could not sit down I had to either lie down to breastfeed or recline sideways. Absolute agony. My GP prescribed cocodimal - very strong- I was quite simply stoned for days and also an anti inflammatory. I also saw a physio. It took a couple of weeks but eventually I could feel the pain start to reduce. Oh and one other thing a tens machine. Really. That helped a bit and something called a cocctyx pillow which I got on line. Hope some of these help. I am really sorry for your pain.

bunnymother · 20/01/2011 17:33

Notyummy- oh dear, your poor friend - so awful. V thoughtful suggestions on this post.

Cakey - loving the Alice Temperley Mini Lou Lou dress!!

Thanks for all your feedback on the shoe boots - have now ordered. Will report back. Have blown monthly budget, but somehow they were all necessary - am not joking! Although does sound a bit Hmm

Plum - broke your bum? Not good! Hope you can get comfy somehow. Ouch.

OK, babies are now past the lovely sleepy phase - screaming intermittently through the day and evening. Not fun. Am not really suited to young baby phase - much prefer when you can interact w them. Although they are my beautiful darlings, don't get me wrong. Who are crying again - they form a stereo effect...

dexter73 · 20/01/2011 17:46

LTEC - will the girls clothes be coming onto the website? I used to buy their clothes for my dd and they were really lovely, especially the pinafore dresses. I wanted to get something for my niece for her birthday.

notyummy · 20/01/2011 18:52

Plum - Sorry to hear about your coccyx!

Good tip re the LM foundation - may need to seek it out!

Well, my bargainous Banana Rep order has arrived. This in purple, which they dont appear to have any more - is FAB. The small fitted me fine,(am a 10) so I am sure many of you could fit the XS. Really warm, soft and felt good quality.

This dress is a nice dress, but not great for my body shape. I am returning a small and medium so they have some left shortly! It would really suit any of you who have good shoulders/legs, but is not so keen on your tummy. It skims that area really nicely and is elegant.

notyummy · 20/01/2011 18:54

BTW, the small fitted me Ok, so I would size down.

Had the uneviable job today of ringing round the rest of my friends who know my friend with the breast cancer to tell them about it. She has specifically asked me to do this, as she finds telling people so draining, and obviously I want to help in any way I can. Hasn't been a fun job though Sad

blossoming · 20/01/2011 19:33

reallygrumpy, thanks for that!

MarshaBrady · 20/01/2011 19:43

Macmama the one thing they didn't have at Heathrow was Laura Mercier. So I bought Dior tinted moisturiser. I don't wear it in the day, but good for night. Not sure if it is as good.

Are you going away? Might be different at other airports.

MarshaBrady · 20/01/2011 19:46

NY that sounds so hard. I had a horrible time last year as I am the London person who then lets the o/s people know. It is hard.

Fritzi hope you are ok.

Had lovely time tonight with friends tonight, ds only just now doing his homework....

redllamayellowllama · 20/01/2011 20:28

Ouch indeed Plum, hope bruising isn't too bad.

NY what a lovely friend you are. Must have been very hard to repeatedly break that news.

Blossoming, polka dot dress and cardigan sounds great. You're bound to have to teach a class as part of the interview and you want to feel comfortable and like yourself when doing so, as well as appearing to be smart and professional for the interview bit. Despite my tender-ish years, I was 2i/c in my last department and had to do observations for posts. The more smartly attired people were, the more they seemed to clam up during their lessons and surely a good lesson where you have a good rapport with the class is the most crucial bit of the process. Reading your posts about the process is getting me all excited. I do look forward to venturing back into the classroom.

blossoming · 20/01/2011 20:37

llama, I used to be HOD and have been on the other side of the process. Are you with me that a suit is a bit too much?

roary · 20/01/2011 20:39

NY your poor friend. You are a star to make those calls, it must be wretched.

I really liked the Kindle idea for later on - I was in hospital for 3 weeks after DS was born and it would have been a lifesaver.

redllamayellowllama · 20/01/2011 20:43

A suit is absolutely too much. The one profession where you can confidently say that I think. Polka dots say chic, professional yet relatable I reckon. If you did go for a suit, you'd only want to wear the jacket for the interview bit itself.

Zembo · 20/01/2011 20:43

Plum poor you! Hope ur DH is around to look after you. Hopefully you've taken something for the pain and are more comfortable now.

On the getting older subject, my 24yr old sister said she hopes she looks like me when she's 40 today. She also told me that the average 40yr old she sees (she's a junior doctor in hospital) looks a mess!! I was wondering what 40yr olds look like today. It's easy to forget when surrounded by such beauty on this thread!!

LetThemEatCake · 20/01/2011 20:47

Well done notyummy very hard and very brave.

bloss am very excited about your possible wardrobe opps in teaching!! also love that you are feeling so good in your skin, you deserve it.

what does anyone think of these?

Zembo · 20/01/2011 20:52

Bloss your outfit sounds perfect to me. Lovely to hear you so happy (generally) and also enthused about this job.

NY you've done your friend a huge favour, I'm sure it means a lot to her. Not the same thing but I still haven't told any of my immediate family about my miscarriage because it's so emotionally difficult. I've been getting a lot of severe cramping pains and think I may still have a gynae issue. My sister was grilling me about the pain today ( as like you I'm very rarely unwell) and was a bit awkward as she doesn't know my recent history!! Will make appt to see GP .

Zembo · 20/01/2011 20:56

Cake the boots are okay but I prefer the SEs that you have. These seem a bit wide at the top and you have slim ankles don't you?

eshermummy · 20/01/2011 20:57

OWW - I have very fine very straight chin/jaw length hair and I think big hair is good. I got it at christmas and have only used it a few times but I think the finished effect lasts noticeably longer than my usual bowdrying efforts. The only negative things I would say are that the brush head is very large so quite hard to get much volume in at the roots and athough easy to use it is time consuming - hence the limited number of usages, not enough time on a school-run morning although I am getting quicker so maybe it's just a matter of practice?

Another Laura Mercier fan here - I use the tinted moisturiser daily. I have her foundation too but only use it on super-haggard and spotty days Blush as it is quite heavy coverage. I was recently persuaded to buy the LM primer too and I would say it does give a better finish/lasts longer when used in conjunction with the tinted moisturiser.
I also swear by this stuff for added glow. Not currently wearing blush as have been wearing a lot of very strong lipstick recently and I find both a bit too painted laydee but I rediscovered this the other day and was re-smitten.

Finally had My Wardrobe delivery (4 days late but they say they will refund both delivery charges as a result Smile).
Having said that one item at least would be going back it would appear that I was wrong Shock. I LOVE the coat, although, if I am honest even the XS is a little bit too over-sized on me but at 70% off I can live with it.
Gilet is cute - more brown/black than choc brown which is good and I rather like the balancing effect it has of making my fat arse and hips look comparatively smaller than my bony slopingshoulders. Too lazy to have tried on the dress yet Blush but looks like a good shape and nice quality.

I like Boden for my dd's but will deffo check out LA's new range. Although LTEC can you feed back that the LA website is rubbish, thanks Grin

eshermummy · 20/01/2011 21:02

LTEC - I have those boots and I love them. Seriously, one of my best buys of the season - are called "Kirsty" on My Wardrobe, also went into sale on MY W iirc.

redllamayellowllama · 20/01/2011 21:08

Like the boots very much LTEC and you've drawn my attention to these, which I think are really quite nice. Or am I very misguided?

Love the coat Esher, looks so cosy.

redllamayellowllama · 20/01/2011 21:10

DH thinks they're the most disgusting things he's ever seen. I rarely listen to him but fear he may be right on this occasion.

eshermummy · 20/01/2011 21:10

OOOh love those chainy Ash hi-tops.........Smile

ReineDeSaba · 20/01/2011 21:11

notyummy what a good friend you are to take that on..as roary says utterly wretched.

sorry you are still battered physically(as well as emotionally) from your miscarriage zembo ..lovely compliment from your sis.

am itching to get down to space nk now..LM sounds like it does the job.

am a bit 'meh' about those boots, sorry, don't really know why exactly.

plum that sounds hieously painful..hope you get some efficient drugs soon.

redllamayellowllama · 20/01/2011 21:13

Or maybe not Grin. How would I wear? Hi-tops last sported with bad jeans when I was 12. A similar look now (ie under skinnies)?

blossoming · 20/01/2011 21:14

esher, I wear the primer too. And you so don't have a fat arse.
zembo, I hope things will be okay. I wouldn't mention mc either. I hate people feeling sorry for me!
Great boots cake, and you know you love Ash.
I'm now drinking wine, as I'm designated driver on Saturday night(!) will wear new IO ruched jersey dress in black with sky high shoeboots. It's a good look, maybe for moam!!
