New thread

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 11/01/2011 17:53

just quickly to say thank you for all of your kind messages, both here and via Pm. Not for the first time, I am Smile to see how much genuine loveliness there is on this thread, as well as style and avidity Wink

I am okay. Unfort several health issues to be addressed, nothing life threatening! but the drag is that it's a bit of a chain thing "do this for a month and then we can investigate X" and "take these for a week and then we run tests on Y" So just dragged out and no real answers (yet) which does not suit the immediacy of my temperament at all.

Anyway have cheered myself up by trying on new Rupert S metallic shoes with number of dresses during dcs' bathtime and noting that a) they go with everything b) they make my legs look pretty long and slim and c) they glitz up the navy Janice beautifully, stepping in nicely when opaques and Edelmans are no longer doable (August!??)

bunny are you okay?? I know you are not opposed to surgery but that does seem quite full on - do they not just kind of knit back together themselves?

Sorry so many of us are having trying days.

carci that is a massive downer. Hope it gets sorted.

dexter73 · 11/01/2011 17:55

Glad to hear you have cheered up, but sorry to hear about your health problems. Hope it is nothing too serious.

traceybath · 11/01/2011 17:58

Oh lordy lordy lordy.

I fear for my taste sometimes.

DH has ordered a new tv - now we have one teeny tiny tv in this house as are not massive tv watchers and I consider big tv's to be a little ummm common Blush

So I looked at link and saw hd/internet blah di blah di blah and anyway mentioned it to my sister who laughed when I said the size as its 42 inches - thats enormous isn't it??!! Oh god - if I sit watching that wearing the my-wardrobe gilet - well I'll no longer be welcome at the meet-up will I Wink

Did try to cancel gilet order after reading what you said but too late so now will undoubtedly hate it and have to faff with yet another return.

But thank you for all feedback re scarf/dress. I took a close look at the dress on the video on NAP and it looks rather see-through so will perhaps (ok definitely) try and get the blanc coreil scarf on Friday.

Have pta coffee morning on friday but may ditch that to order scarf instead [shallow]

dexter73 · 11/01/2011 18:05

tracey - 42" is positively tiny! My dh bought a new tv for his birthday and it is 50"!!! I thought it looked huge at first but now it just looks normal and dd's friends are hugely impressed by it!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 11/01/2011 18:13

bunnymother I'm guessing you have diastasis recti? Do you know how big your seperation is?

MarshaBrady · 11/01/2011 18:23

Bunny I had a quick look at that link. I now need a pale soft cashmere jumper, deeper plum pencil skirt and blueberry type belt. Hmmm

But I'll give the gratuitous boob shots a miss!

KILDARE4 · 11/01/2011 18:34

Love the shearling gilets Tracey and Pickled

Mac my heart goes out to you, the pain of you dc being set upon by others is so tough.

Roary and all others having a bad day -
big hugs all round.

Battery about to goSmile.'Back later!

LetThemEatCake · 11/01/2011 18:41

another one feeling disenchanted with idiot dh here.

Have managed to do some work today when L slept (about an hour) as P&C were both at nursery 9-3, but have a big project on at mo and am in fact billing more than dh for the week.

So he promised to leave work at 4 to come home and do bedtime, allowing me to start work for the evening at 6.30 or so instead of the usual 8.30 (in theory allowing me to either get more done or simply go to bed before 1amt for a change!)

So I just called to get ETA ... cue guilty voice (his) "oh sorry was just about to call you .. .sorry am really snowed under .. haven't left yet .. will prob leave about 7.30" (it's 90 mins away)

He left at 8am this morning.Angry Surely enough time to put in an adequate day of work??

traceybath · 11/01/2011 18:45

How frustrating LTEC - and I don't suppose there's any chance he can go to work late tomorrow to free you some time in the morning?

What time will the dc's be in bed?

PlumSykes · 11/01/2011 18:45

Blimey, Bunny, is this the GP who told you to 'Lose some weight fatty' when DD1 was 6 weeks old?

I think she might need to send you for some physio first, not just get the chaps with the scalpels to get choppy with your lovely tum!

notyummy · 11/01/2011 18:52

Am going to Leeds tomorrow and have an hour to kill before a meeting - had hoped to hit this amazing shopping area - one the best I have ever been to. However I will be there too early. Grr!
Probably better for the bank account I can't though, given various weekends away, personal shopping thingy and the boring matter of my car insurance to be paid....

Glad to hear that the health problems are not serious LTEC. It is frustrating when things can't be sorted quickly - I am exactly the same! I get bored of what I should be doing and end not doing it.....and then get worse and it makes me even grumpier.

We have a fairly big TV that DH bought fairly recently. Not sure about the width tbh - its not really enormous though!

notyummy · 11/01/2011 18:54

Oh how annoying LTEC. Be scary. I find this sometimes works for me.

(The phrase 'How Dare You' has a place in every relationship! Grin)

FritziGreenEyes · 11/01/2011 19:07

bunny Couldn't you just change doctors? The DDs are still so little how dare she suggest something drastic like that?!

cake Sorry for troubles with DH. So frustrating... Hope you'll get everything done anyway and that meds from doctor's will help. I'm also behind schedule with my writing, have promised to hand in manuscript by tomorrow night to push myself to do it. Oh dear....

tracey Your "lordy" exclamations make me smile every time Smile. You never know, maybe the gilet is for you! I hate TV and media gadgets in our living room too but as I haven't really found a clever solution to hide it all, I have resigned for now.

blossoming · 11/01/2011 19:46

Hi everyone!
Back from teaching and rugby training.
fritzi I wore the jersey autograph dress with the phase 8 jeggings and my slouchy grey r&b boots. I have been 5 times, and have run out of dresses. Do I start over, or buy the dress I linked to yesterday? (It is taupe, it is winter appropriate!) here.
What am I saying, I'm dreaming. I have over a £100 in my figleaves basket waiting for a magic code, and the truth is, if I found the perfect pair of smart trousers, I could wear loads of different outfits! How much have I spent this month already?!
verity, what's the water situation like now? It's gone off news rather here.
Pure has a really long delivery time, but the jacket has been despatched. Also despatched is a Mypashmina stole, so I'll be ready to go! I have a teacher's training day in a large hotel on the north coast on Friday, and it is supposed to very mild. If it's not raining, It will be just the ticket!

Very modern languages chic! I realised today that aswell as 'be the best I can be', 'to be chic' is my daily goal. (Shallow emoticon).
It constantly amazes me the wealth of expertise we have on this thread, and here comes apuski with inside knowledge of the Post Office. What a force to be reckoned with. (Although nobody has contacted me for information on verb conjugations yet..!)

Catching up slowly, but reflux is such a pain. I used to watch other mums taking their babies to cafes and knowing I could never do that with my DS. Luckily DC2 had it diagnosed and had Gaviscon and Ranitadine to control it. Very distressing for everyone involved. DD is so easy compared to them. She walked on her own today!! Late compared to other babies on this thread, but still!

ltec, hope things get resolved

blossoming · 11/01/2011 19:50

ltec hope things get resolved soon.

traceybath · 11/01/2011 19:56

Oh well done baby Bloss! DS2 didn't walk until 16 months - to be honest he'd still rather be carried and he's now 3 - so laid-back/lazy Smile

Fritzi - is your job going better now?

pickledsiblings · 11/01/2011 20:07

carciofi - bed is from an old boarding school in Kent and revamped by me. It is a full length narrow single and is one of a matching pair, as are the shelves Smile. My 2 boys decided to share a room just as tracey's decided to go solo.

OWW, duvet cover (also one of a matching pair) is fairly recent and is from www.featherandblack.com/Childrens/Bed-Linen/Boys-Bed-Linen/Shelby-Bed-Linen.ice Feather and Black]]. The other colours are lovely too.

NY I love the VQ in Leeds...Harvey Nicks, VW, Colman's Mustard Museum Grin.

LTEC, How fab that the shoes go with loads. What a pity DH couldn't make it home earlier, you could probably do with a cuddle after frustrating/annoying docs appt. You could get quite a bit done between 8.00pm and 9.00pm without him there to distract you Wink.

carciofi · 11/01/2011 20:08

LTEC, your dh is very bold, as my dd would say!

Bloss, that is a lovely dress. I still recite beau, bon, court, grand, gros, haut, jeune, joli, long, mauvais, etc, when I can't get to sleep! What about the Joseph trousers Hells bought? FIGL10 works for 10% off at Figleaves.

Crumpet scarf arrived and is lovely.

carciofi · 11/01/2011 20:09

Great job on the bed, PS.

KILDARE4 · 11/01/2011 20:12

Blossoming The M&S 'Essentials' dress does look a bit essential, doesn't it?! I really like it.

How tall are you? as I think a bit of height would be required to look best in this dress Smile.

Roma you put me to shame, your travel attire sounds so smart, am flying to London on red eye on Sat for the day, and now am planning outfit - like Blossoming I too 'would like to be the best I can and chic on a daily basis' - whar's shallow about that??!! Grin

LTEC Could have sworn that was my dh you described earlier ! he's still not home and I am waiting to return to office!

pickledsiblings · 11/01/2011 20:19

Feather and Black link (oops)

hf128219 · 11/01/2011 20:25

Evening ladies. Sorry to all those who have had rubbish days with doctors/post office/housework/daily drudge et al.

Hopefully things will be on the up soon.

Bloss Nice dress. Just buy it!

I like having a 'budget' - it really makes you think twice. Although with this crap weather my mind is more focused on holidays and furniture/soft furnishings.

Has anyone sold anything on nappyvalley.co.uk Our utility room is full of stair gates/car seats/moses basket etc. The £££ are appearing before my eyes!

Tracey It depends what you watch on your new TV - you only have to worry when you see some of your friends or relatives on Jeremy Kyle Grin

notyummy · 11/01/2011 20:31

I am watching The Sinking of the Laconia.....it's an emotional rollercoaster .

blossoming · 11/01/2011 20:33

Kildare, did you look at the video? It's divine! I'm 5'7, but my heels are 4.5' high!
Love the chant carciofi! And thanks for the code!
pickled, my bed is from Iron Bed Co which Feather & Black took over. I love that company!
tracey wise decision. That dress could be bought again. I just renember the disappointing jigsaw linen dress last year. This must be better don't you think?

traceybath · 11/01/2011 20:34

My bed also from iron bed co Smile

Pickled - shelves look fab!
